Clarita and Orlando are very friendly hosts, and their home is a comfortable and clean place.
My room was big, had a table with chairs, AC, a fridge, a safe for valuables and a private bathroom.
(There was a TV too but I never used it.) Clarita always answered my questions and had great advice to give.
My Spanish is not good, but we managed to communicate well. Clarita was always willing to offer help and it is clear that both Clarita and Orlando care about their guests. They want you to have the best possible stay in their home and in Cuba.I highly recommend anyone to stay at Clarita and Orlando's house!

I highly recommend staying at Claritta and Orlando's house. They are very helpful with guests and give great recommendations for places to eat, museums and venues/bars. The house is beautiful and the room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable. Claritta also speaks good English if your Spanish is not so good (mine is not…)

If you're lucky, you'll get to eat some delicious home-cooked food from Claritta. She also offers coffee or tea to guests in the morning for no extra. It is in an excellent location near the Malecón, a short distance from Old Havana and the Vedado neighbourhood.

To those who have read the negative comment, please know that everything posted is false. I got the opportunity to stay in Clarita and Orlando's home and I would go back in a heart beat if I could. It was such a welcoming place. Sooooo warm, prices completely reasonable, amazing food, and complete comfort. The negative review made the home sound homophobic which isn't true because I am a gay individual and Clarita's family practically adopted me as their own. The negative review also said there is a curfew which is not true because many nights were spent with me feeling the freedom to come and go as I pleased (even on the last night when I came back at 5;30 in the morning). Staying in their home is one of the best decisions a traveler could make when traveling to Havana. Please do not let the factitious ignorance of one person influence your potential enjoyment!

It´s too bad but I cannot recommend Clarita and Orlando´s House. I feel very sad for Clarita and her husband since they are honest, hard working people that have spent the last five years building a successful enterprise with satisfied customers. I chose their establishment since reviews from previous guests were so positive. However I had the misfortune to be accommodated with an elderly relative of Clarita and Orlando. The moment I left my room this elderly woman went through my luggage. I realized that 600 euro were missing and also tiny things like socks and ball point pens. No other persons had access to the apartment which was guarded by two dogs that barked at everything and everyone. It felt like a safe place. I could not prove that this woman stole my money. I was travelling alone and there was no one to back up my story. She denied my accusations and eventually I had to go to the police to report the theft, an action that Clarita and Orlando seemed disappointed with. I do feel sorry for them. None of us can choose our relatives but you can choose another accommodation if you are planning to stay in Havana.

We was lucky to be at Clarita & Orlando’s house. It’s a very nice house, clean, quiet and Clarita was very friendly with us. But during our stay we saw that other person were not so lucky than us.
To be honest this house doesn’t have 5 rooms. It’s an apartment with 3 rooms, one room for the owners and two rooms for rent. Many person get to the house with a booking confirmed and they are relocated by the friendly Clarita to other neighbor houses.
We didn’t like to be witness of that dishonest behavior because one of those person could be us.

Hello Mrs or Mr, it's a shame that you through this website where travelers write their opinions to help other people who want to travel, you question a house with four years in the business and has received awards from TRIPADVISOR in 2013 and 2014 and never people who really have visited our house, have complained. Our business have 5 bedrooms, 2 in my house, 2 at my daughter's, who lives in the same building and one at my aunt's who lives in the same building at penthosuse, we are a working family. Thanks.

This will be a 2 part review, as I was very late trying to book any where to stay in Havana when Clarita offered to arrange a room with her neighbour I accepted. So I will review Clarita and Orlando's where I had breakfast here and do a separate review of Carlos Manuel (where I actually stayed).
The actual building was a bit of a surprise, it is a tower block of about 6 floors and looks a bit grim from the outside but do not let that put you off. On arrival, lift up the 3rd floor to Clarita’s who took me along the corridor to Carlos Manuel. There are a number of Casa Particular’s in the building and Clarita will find you a room in one of these if she can not accommodate you herself. Clarita provides a very good breakfast. She speaks excellent English and provides any information that you may need. When I was discussing with Clarita about finding the bus station to book ticket to Trinidad she offered to arrange a shared taxi instead, which was for me a better way to travel. Clarita asked if I required help to arrange accommodation in Trinidad, which I accepted as I had tried to book on line and had not been successful. Over breakfast I spoke to a number of different people who were actually staying at Clarita and without exception they all said Clarita and Orlando's was the best place they had stayed in whilst in Cuba. Altogether Clarita could not have a better and more helpful host.

This was my third trip to Cuba , as I am tour leader.I decided to contact this house, because it is very central in the description of the house says it has 5 bedrooms and also has very good reviews on the web. What me uncomfortable when we got home does not really count with 5 bedrooms , has only 2 rooms, very nice and comfortable , but only 2 rooms. Therefore the group could not be in the house that 's how we had planned for three months from when we booked directly with the owners by mail. always assured us that we would be together and it was not, the lady of the house very sympathetic and gentle when we informed us that we could only have one room of her house but she would help us find accommodation in the neighborhood.

Gracias.

My friend and I stayed for six days in Clarita and Orlando’s House.
Situated in the Malecon, the house is very well located, in Centro Habana, between Old Havana and Vedado, you can easily walk to all kinds of restaurants and bars and to the main spots in the city.
Rooms are spacious with private bathrooms. Both hosts, Clarita and Orlando, and their daughter Clency as well, were extremely nice and helpful! The whole family got very involved in hosting us and they all made sure we felt that nothing was missing. They organised our transportation from and to the airport and bus station, and offered their help in every aspect, including touristic information. I must say that breakfasts were the best we had in Cuba, and Orlando cooked some lobsters for us that were really DELICIOUS!!
Highly recommend this Casa to anyone who is planning to stay in La Habana and would like to experience friendly Cuban hospitality, great atmosphere and delicious food!

My husband and I stayed in a casa particular for the first time January 2012. He is from havana, and I am from Texas, of Indian origin. We loved Casa Clarita! THe location cannot be beat -- just down from Vedado, with a view of the malecon from your room and the dining room. Clarita and her husband Orlando are very hospitable. Both have worked in the tourist industry for their entire careers so know the ropes and can give you lots of other connections (like casas in other Cuba cities) and can help you with things like booking a cheap cab in the city or to the airport. They both cook delicious food for a price much less than eating out, and more convenient. I cannot say enough good things about them, and we plan to stay with them again when we go next! We met Clarita when we arrived but found we were staying with Klensy and Donny,
We stayed 4 nights with this delightful couple. We felt very welcomed and we enjoyed our stay. Our room was a bit crowded as it had two bunk beds in it but our bed was comfortable. There was a shower room with plenty of hot water and a large fridge containing cold drinks we could buy. There was another small room with a window which had a view of the sea and was useful for storage. Neither my husband or I eat bread but with a fruit platter and a fresh cooked omelette. Bread , jam, honey and cake were available if wanted. There was juice and tea or coffee. What we had gave us a good start to the day and we didn’t need much else until the evening. The accommodation is around a 5C taxi ride to the Park Central in Old Havana but in the evenings it cost 10C to restaurants not that far from there. Klensy was always happy to hail us a taxi. It was a lovely walk into Old Havana along the sea front. There was some rough weather during our stayand the sea splashed over the wall closing the road some of the time, however we braved the walk from the land side of the road several times. If you want an interesting cultural experience, don’t require luxury accommodation and don’t mind being a bit out of the centre I would thoroughly recommend staying here.
