Pros: near Malecon and main spots. Original decor Friendly staff Good breakfast Big rooms Clean Cons: Shower didn't have holder, really bad if you want to wash your hair. There was some hair in the shower box. Apartment on the second floor, with steep steps.

There is no internet, even they are encouraging to book by "wifi available" photo. The cockroaches was running all around. One of the rooms was being renovated, so there was dust everywhere. The owner is not very helpful and can't speak English.

The stairway leading up to the apartment is fairly steep so those that have issues with stairs should be warned. But my wife and I in our 60s had no issues going up. The apartment was nice and had multiples beds, tv, and small fridge. Also we had our own bathroom with shower. Our room also had our own air conditioning with cool air. We signed up for a daily breakfast which was fantastic. an omelette, toast, coffee, fresh squeezed juice and also a bowl of fruit. cost was $4 per person per day. Sarita's son was very helpful and offered advice on best places to go and where to catch taxi or directions to central park. We usually rode on the bicycle taxis. we were there in june 2016. Had a room 1, twin beds and private bathroom. The room was very simple but very clean. Towels and tissue were available, bring your own soap/shampoo. Breakfast was ok (4CUC) and served with smile. Air conditioning was good. Kind-hearted service, lovely people. Some minor communication problems. Location is good, near to the sea, Capitolio and old quarters. Restaurants Barbra and San Cristóbal were good and near, Barbra just in the next block. People with walking difficulties may have problems in this casa because of plenty of stairs at the entrance. As a matter of fact, walking in Havana can be a little tricky for anyone. Luckily there are plenty of regular and bicycle taxis everywhere. You can also ask for airport pick up (25 CUC daytime, 30 CUC night time). They use a taxi agency. Our driver Zuleyk was very friendly and on time.

I do not recommend to stay at this hostel. Not all staff members are as friendly. The shower is poor: there is no pressure and nothing to attach the shower sprayer to the wall so hard to wash your hair. Also, not all staff members speak English so not all customers can communicate with them. The breakfast was OK but not great: no cheese and ham, no butter. The rooms do not have street views so also no balconies available in the room (my booking website did mention this). I think there are much better houses to find for this price in the same area. People smoke in the living room. My room did not even have a working ventilator, and I could not change the mode of the airconditioning so it was either very hot or very cold. I asked them to change rooms, which they did. These are actually also 2 apartments connected to each other. They also did not help me to arrange a taxi.
