Our family (2 adults, 2 kids 12+13) were at the Arenas Doradas Feb 19-16/07. Started off slowly, we had brought walkie talkies-didn't read quite all the info about Cuba...they were confiscated at the airport. Long procedure...in triplicate, and Spanish. Airport transfer was painless, with a humorous tour guide letting us know where we were, and some tips about Cuba, Varadero, and...

Just got back last week from Varadero! The weather was ok, we did have 3 cold days but the hot days made up for that (saved me from having a sunstroke). The hotel was great, in Cuba's standards it was ok! The food was great at dinner and breakfast, a bit disappointing at lunch, as the main buffet is closed...

I came back on Feb. 16 after a nice week at the Arenas Doradas. I travelled with my sister-in-law and we are both in our 30s. It was my 6th time in Cuba, 2nd in Varadero. I had stayed at the Sol Palmeras in 2005, which is not worth the extra money. Back to the Arenas Doradas: - Rooms: basic,...

I would like to make sure those reading this review dont think I am a typical whiny tourist. I lived in the Dominican Republic for 10 years, and have been in the "deluxe" and roughed it. This time we travelled with 5 adults, 3 kids (ages 12, 8 and 5). My major complaints about the Arenas Doradas circulate around what...

This resort was super for the price. The staff were always polite, the rooms were cleaned immaculately, the maids were always appreciative for the tips/gifts we left for her everyday. The bartenders always enjoyed filling up our travel mugs with beer and other alocoholic drinks - Cubans pour alcohol like there's NO tomorrow! The grounds were always kept well, the...

Went to the resort in 2005. First off, the resort is beautiful, the weather is wonderful and the service is good. The food is pretty good compared to a few places I've been to, lots of selection. ONE THING TO WATCH!! is look for bed bugs in your bed, if you do not leave the cleaning ladies $5 on the...

A friend and I stayed at the Arenas Doradas from January 22-29. We were in building 7, which would have had an ocean view if not for the trees en route to the beach. Not complaining though, palms are my favorite trees. The safe in our room wouldn't set so we had to meet maintenance at our room at 8pm....

My wife and myself traveled on our wedding anniversary. HOTEL LOCATION: Located about 20 minutes drive from downtown varadero. This would reduce or eliminate the number of locals on the beach. ROOMS We had a nice size room on the ground floor. Room location was very good, close to all restaurants, pool and beach. The maid service was very good...

Just returned from our trip to Arenas Doradas in Varadero, Cuba (Jan. 12-19). The weather was unbeatable...hot and sunny everyday...it was windy, but we loved it because it made for some awesome waves. The resort put up colour coded flags to inform you about the ocean...(Yellow-you are only able to swim) and (Green-you can participate in all water sports, ie...
