I have stayed here twice and I prefer the Villa La Mar to the Mar del Sur. The rooms have balconies, the beds more comfortable. The food is decent by any standard and as good as any other Cuban budget hotel. I never got sick here, unlike some Cayo Santa Maria hotels. Clean hotel, decent service, but watch out for...

Hotel was surprisingly in good condition for a 2 star. Food wasn't very great but one night they had a seafood dinner which I enjoyed. Staff were great and resort was surprisingly very clean (even cleaner than some 4 stars in Cuba that I've been to)! I went with a buddy (two 20year olds) and it was perfect for just...

The place is being closed to the public and being taken over by the Military..therefore the maid I had on the third floor did nothing more than make the bed. drinks were very limited, I enjoyed the capiccinno. the food this year was deplorable and barely edible.. Spent most of my money eating off resort. The staff were pre-occupied by...

Thank God when you pay for 1 you play at 2 (Mar Del Sur) so I slept at Villa La mar but spent all my time at Mar Del Sur. Villa La Mar is closing for good on May 1,2014 and is being turned into a Military hotel so needless to say all the workers are out of a job...

Went back again (last April/May), with a friend instead of the gf. That in itself was a learning experience. My friend loved it because: a) he's frugal like myself, b) plenty of cubans around (in and out of the resort) c) CRAZY people seem to gravitate to this resort. The regular entourage consited of 3 canadians, a potential tranny and...

Recently went to Villa La Mar for a week. This is definitely only a place to sleep while in Cuba. The food at the resort is not so good, I fed all my "meat" to the cats that hang around outside. Even tried the à la carte one night and it wasn't very good. My boyfriend and I decided to...

So some of the other reviews are a little scary, but honestly this place isn't that bad. It's a little run-down, but it's clean and the staff are friendly and eager to please. On our arrival, the room we were given had an overwhelming smell of mildew. We simply couldn't breathe, so we asked to change rooms and they happily...

The stright filigt from Helsinki to Varadaro and vice verca was excellent with Finnair and Santours,The location of hotel was one of the best things in Varadero.I spend three nights in the hotelroom where I could not close the balcony door and safety kees where lost.Of course that was a bit complicated for...

First of all, it was my first trip to Cuba. Beach was AMAZING no doubt. I went on the third week of August and the weather was PERFECT, HOT & clear sunny sky to be precise. The hotel: Food was good, Idk why people are complaining, I'm not picky, I'm not fat either. Pool was not so crowded, played reggaetton&...

This was our second year at Hotel Villa La Mar, and it felt like coming home when we walked back in to the place! We spent 7 weeks at Villa La Mar, and while our friendships haven't changed since last year...a few things have!! You still experience the intimate feeling and warmth of a small hotel, but you now have...
