This place was bad from the moment we arrived. Please do yourself a favor and look at other places to stay in Punta Cana. This place caters to locals & Spanish speakers. They do not tell you that they offer cheap weekend packages to locals and they literally bus them in to this place. Bus after bus after bus… Lines were extremely long, locals extremely rude to non-locals, so many people that the pools were just people stacked on top of people. They were doing things that I wouldn’t want my kids to see. Staff only paid attention to the locals. Arrived on Friday afternoon around 3pm, and the lobby was packed. Tried to check in, and was told that I had to stay in line. Found the line, stood in line for 2 hours, line didn’t move, and finally had to start acting upset before the desk clerks started allowing people in the line to check in. It’s hot in the lobby, no organization, no welcome, no drinks on hand. Just repeatedly told by staff to stay in line. Problem was that they continued to let locals go directly to the counter to check in & bypass the line. So all of us non locals were just stuck and waiting. I was sweaty & frustrated & ready to turn around and go back home at this point. Lighting in bathroom was non existent. Could not see to put on make up, etc. Bathroom ceiling leaked for 3 days before they fixed it. Housekeeping never got the towel situation right. Toilet handle was broken & hubby had to fix it. The mini fridge was only stocked when I left a note with tip asking for water. (Btw- bottles of water are not sold in the market. The only way to get them is through your mini fridge.). Sheets on bed felt like sandpaper because they had been washed so many times. Walls are thin and you hear EVERYTHING going on next to you. The buffet is absolutely terrible. Basically the same food over & over. Bland. Disgusting. The lines where they make hot food for you are super long, and the food is not even worth it. Birds fly in the dining area. They eat off the buffet line & leave special gifts all over the floor, chairs & tables. Service at the buffet is so-so. Most days we were halfway through eating before wait staff approached us to get our drink order. Over the weekend when the locals were there, we had to clean off a table, fetch our own silverware & drinks, and we never had a wait staff even approach us during weekend meals. As for the restaurants, not all of them are open. You make reservations at the guest service office (something they neglect to tell you at check in). The Japanese was the only good meal we had all week. Mexican was okay. Good luck trying to get pizza at the pizzeria. The pool is okay through week, but too crowded on the weekend. The swim up bar is not open at all ever. The beach is the only reason to stay at this place. Go by the lifeguard stand #1 (there are less people & the sand is better & use the pool bar as the service is better & bathrooms are cleaner over here.). Over by lifeguard stand #2 , it is nice but more crowded, sand turns to rock in the ocean, and there is always a line for drinks at the beach bar. Overall, service is bad here. The language barrier was a huge problem. I used as much Spanish as possible, but I had workers actually tell me “no hablo English”, roll their eyes, and just walk away. Btw- I was asking for directions to places because their map of the facility is wrong. I really thought our biggest problem on vacation would be remembering to get the Covid test to come home. Boy was I wrong. We just had issue after issue. And we were treated so poorly. (They do have Covid testing which they offer every day except Sunday from 8:30 to 10 am with same day results. Front desk will tell you to go to the Internet cafe for the test. To help you find this… because the front desk staff told us incorrectly. The Internet cafe is on the 3rd floor and the sign on door is library and business center. Remember 8:30 is approximate to these folks. We waited until almost 9 before they showed up.) Every non local from multiple different countries that I spoke with stated that they thought this place was terrible & they were just trying to make the best of it. When we ran into each other around the resort, we all shared our negative stories with each other about the place. If you decide to stay here, GOOD LUCK.…
Awesome staff and the cleanliness only thing that i felt missing was bathroom needs to be updated and Restaurant and buffet needs to have more food choices for vegetarian food and for some culinary experience
This was our first time at this location. Hotel is big and clean, all staff wore mask if that is a concern. Beautiful on location beach. The pool area is nice and spacious, but when booking they listed that the swim up bar was open but it was not, this was a big thing bc we love to be the pool. No worries, there is a poolside bar and restaurant. A special thanks to Samuel at the poolside bar that went over and beyond to take care of us in the pool. There is a huge open buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner in the hotel. I found the food to be okay (fruits were great), the breakfast foods that aren't from the grill, need to be hotter. Actually the buffet in the smaller poolside restaurant tasted much better to us. Wi-fi was terrible... And their definition of Airport Transfers, means they will call a taxi. No shuttles to or from.…
we really enjoyed this holidays in Punta Cana, we from Austin and loved the place, the beach is amazing (no seaweed), the people and even the food despite some bad comments we have read. we suggest rooms in the 1 block, the seaview is very calm and inspiring. this hotel is the younger brother of Big Barcelo Bavaro, but can compete with it, specially since the rate is almost half compared to Barcelo. i expect we are repiting on 2022.
Unfortunately this hotel used to be a great one, this was my second time visiting, and we are so disappointed with it, HORRIBLE FOOD, DRINKS, MAINTEINANCE, I have never posted anything before but is good for everyone to know about this, sometimes you have couple options for food but at this place everything was disgusting, rooms after moving us couple times finally got a good room for us my friends/ family couple, got a double bed, but anyway Raquel Rodrigez the new manager that half of the staff didn’t know she tried to make our stay a little better. I will give this property a 2 star just because the good staff. I not go back to this place or maybe to DR because going in was a terrible experience getting trough customs or immigration was another bad experience. SORRY.
