I've been away from home since 14th August on a solo 5,000+ mile bicycle ride round Britain to raise sponsorship for Alzheimer's Society. Too cold to camp now 😄 and therefore having to be VERY cost/value conscious with regard to a night's accommodation. So - having turned up like a frozen waif at reception (not looking or smelling good!!!) -...

Visited it twice while on holidays. Lovely people...friendly cosy place and absolutely stunning food!!! Well worth the money! My husband had a burger and he said it was the best one he ever had👍👍👍 I wanted something light ...ordered scallops (from the starter menu) ...I was not full ..the portion was a tiny one , but very tasty. Stayed only for 1 night on business. Very sad to leave. Room excellent, welcome and reception very friendly...nothing too much trouble...all staff polite and easy going and very informative...thanks Adam!! What a true gentleman. Dinner in the bar with roaring fire most pleasant. The best Shepherds pie (with peas) and mashed carrot and sweet I have ever tasted. The chef...

We went on the recommendation of a friend and booked a table in the restaurant rather than the bar The initial impression was that the restaurant room was a little cold and overly bright, not particularly conducive to a romantic date and a contrast to the pub itself, but we were made to feel very welcome by the staff and...

We stopped off here yesterday afternoon and don't think I could possibly say enough good things about it. It is absolutely stunning. Very oldy worldy with big thick walls, low ceilings, slate floors and open fires. The young girl behind the bar was wonderful. Food looked delicious. Probably one of the nicest pubs I have ever been in. Anyone passing...

2 night mini break in this very comfortable hotel. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable - only slight let down by noise of the kitchen underneath evening and early morning. Good standard of freshly cooked food - same menu in bar and restaurant. Very friendly staff. Good base for exploring the area.

Spent a couple of nights here recently. Room was decorated to a high standard, comfortable bed with quality bed linen, and the shower room was spacious with a great power shower. The staff were helpful, friendly and charming. We ate at Y Talbot both nights and the food was delicious and high end restaurant quality. Top marks to everyone at...

We stayed here for 2 nights in October. What a surprise in a fairly run down town to find an oasis of tranquility and quality. Everything here was just great, large room (14), spotlessly clean and such friendly staff too! Breakfast was great. Only downside, we thought the food prices in the bar/restaurant were rather steep!!

As we are local to this pub, we use it regularly when family & friends visit. We always use the pub side rather than the restaurant as it has more character. Its best to book the table in the small dining area . as the bar area is not as cosy for eating in,but has a great fire in the winter. The...
