Just had to commend the excellent emergency catering provided today, at very reasonable cost and at a moments notice, by the staff of this hotel when a Rotary Club entertainment and tea was let down by the caterers for the event. A testimony to a community working together
3 Of us stayed here in an apartment for 1 night 1 bedroom ( double and single bed) and a single bed in the lounge, has a kitchen with microwave, fridge, plates etc Very friendly and welcoming place - would stay again if we were in that area again.
We arrived at 4.30pm and our room wasn't ready. Getting it ready seemed to take ages. We were offered a cup of tea but we had a cup just before. We were on the point of leaving but it would have been difficult to find somewhere else at this time of night. It had a bath which was great, 2 bedrooms and a kitchen with a microwave. No bulb in my room and lamp didn't work and some of the rooms in need of decoration. Couldn't get TV to work but we were so tired we crashed out early. Woke up early and decided to miss breakfast and start walking.
Stayed here overnight as missed the last train home and it's just over the road from the station. Although it was I late arriving I was given a free pot of coffee and a cake when I got there which was very nice indeed. The room I had was ok double bed sink kettle tea and coffee it wasn't on suite but the bathroom was literally just down the hall. After a comfortable night sleep I went down stairs where I was given the best breakfast I've ever had at a b&b/hotel !! And best of all it was only £25 for the night so would defiantly stay here again
The most distinctive feature is the big lounge adorned with classic movie posters, cult film and TV memorabilia, a giant chessboard, and shelves full of secondhand books and comics for sale. I was given a complementary cafetiere of coffee on arrival which was very good, my breakfast was also up to standard. My bedroom was spacious, with a coffee table and two-seat sofa. (Please note that not all rooms are en-suite). The place seemed a little chaotic - no blankets or tea-milk in room on arrival, and showers were missing shower gel! But staff were friendly and helpful and happy to comply with requests for things I needed. Floors were uneven in places and I found the internal layout a bit confusing - more signposting of bathrooms and bedroom numbers might help. Overall I was very happy with my stay and at the price, £25 per person per night - I was prepared to overlook a few flaws.…
