We stayed at the Oloffson based purely on the history of the place. It's a stately old property (classic "gingerbread house") that we enjoyed staying at for a couple of days mid-trip around Haiti. Our room was quiet (not in the main house) and very large. We had good hot water,

Most of the reviews sum things up fairly well, so no need to repeat in detail: this is a remarkable hotel showing faded glory. That said, it somewhat speaks to Haiti today. Nice bar, decent rooms, and of course the music. Even if you're not staying, a nice place to have a

The atmosphere is unique with a bar and a terrace overlooking the bay. Its also not far from the downtown. (I walked to Champs des Mars in 15 minutes). My last night there I heard drums from the garden and went down to an open pavilion where a group of dancers were starting to

If you require the Marriott, don’t stay here. If you need good food, great and not over-priced drinks(!) and if you really want history and local color - this is the only place to stay. We stayed twice. The first time in the suite in the main building. It is old and a bit

Reception can organise a driver. He has an A/C four wheel drive and took me to the airport. Negotiate the fare beforehand, prices are very elastic in Haiti. I actually walked from hotel around the city. Daytime and it did feel weird as I so stuck out. Absolutely no tourists around but people were cool, not friendly but not hostile either.

You need to check - Thursday is the night - it starts late (11-pm) but sometimes the band is out of town. You can have the hotel arrange transportation or, book the Night Tour.

Take a taxi at the airport or ask the hotel to book one for you. No reliable bus. The hotel is a bit far from the city centre.
