An ideal location for exploring the East Coast of the Island. Pimento Lodge is idyllic with a superb location above the Caribbean giving exceptional views. The rooms are comfortable and clean - each with a balcony/terrace facing the sea and all with aircon when the heat and humidity are high, but the gentle breeze due to the elevation is often all that is needed. The restaurant/dining area is a gem.... the excellent hosts (Kate and Lloyd) prepare superb local dishes with many ingredients sourced from the gardens of the hotel and there is a bar to provide the drinks. We spent a few of our evenings chatting away with Lloyd and Kate after our meal and they can give advice and contacts regarding the local excursions and places of interest (the river rafting was an example - their contact here, Steve, is the man to captain your raft). Other places nearby (apart from the beaches) are Porto Antonio, Boston Bay (home of Jerk) and Reach Falls The location, local ambience and owners - 5 stars all round. First of all, I can't thank enough Lloyd and Kate for their hospitality. Everyday during the breakfast we'd a good time talking several subjects with them, from soccer to politics. They made everything to help us. The place is a piece of heaven, with lot of green area. Nice pool also. The cleaning is something to highlight also. I can't recommend enough Pimento Lodge!

We really enjoyed this hidden treasure location in the mountains. This beautiful hotel has been build by the owners (Lloyd and Kate). It has 8 rooms and can host around 20 guests. We enjoyed the pool with a stunning ocean view. Over and above the breakfast the owners offered us a self cooked dinner every night. Most is cooked organically straight from the garden. The bar offered a variety of drinks to accommodate dinner. The warm hearted owners provided us a serine ambiance to recharge and relax. This location is great to explore the east part of the island: Range Falls, Boston Beach, Frenchman’s Cove (our favorite beach) Rio Grande rafting and various mountain hikes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this part of the island.

If you're looking for a true Jamaican experience while visiting the island you could not ask for a better place to stay than Pimento Lodge. Kate and Lloyd are warm and welcoming. They are truly like your best friends that you visit. We spent many mornings and evening chatting like we've known each other for years. They were so helpful as well, from arranging a guide for rafting down the Rio Grande to putting us in touch with a mechanic when we had an issue with our rental car. The lodge sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean with breathtaking views but is just a short walk away from the beach. The room itself was bright, spacious and very clean. The grounds were nicely kept with a garden of fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs. Breakfasts and dinners were wonderful, from the food to the conversations. I feel lucky that we've found this gem of a place and will definitely return!…

We stayed for 6 days and enjoyed every minute. Lloyd and Kate are absolutely delightful people and very soon make you feel like you are visiting new friends in their wonderful, great home and not simply staying in a hotel at all. When you learn that Lloyd personally created this beautiful property from the ground up, devoting love and attention to every detail, you understand why this is such a special place. Here you immediately are comfortable, Lloyd and Kate are ready to help you find your way around, and there are fabulously beautiful coves and waterfalls to visit during the day for a swim, for snorkeling, or even to learn to surf. In the evening, you can walk down from the hotel to an excellent seafood restaurant (called Secrets) that is right on the beach and dine to the sound of the waves. I cannot recommend Pimento Lodge highly enough. We went as a family (ages 23 to 70) and every one of us loved it. We all feel incredibly lucky to have discovered it and spent our vacation here!…

Share Pimento Lodge with only your truest friends and family. This is the edge of paradise. Lloyd and Kate are the perfect hosts for your relaxing trip to the most green and serene part of Jamaica. We absolutely adored this place! Lloyd and Kate are the perfect hosts; the views are beautiful and peaceful; the room was completely comfortable and spacious; and the beach is a five minute walk away. We chose to not rent a car on this trip (we usually do), so Lloyd arranged for a driver whenever we needed one. Since we came back home, there hasn't been a week where we haven't said that we'd like to just drop everything and go back to Pimento -- and I look forward to making that happen.

I've never seen such an array of flowers and fruit trees in one location. Lloyd and his wife have created a heaven inside heaven. Port Antonio Jamaica must be the most forested area in Jamaica, the mountain rises from the ocean like a volcano, but the only thing falling is rain drops. It literally falls everyday. This is a good thing because if you are looking for relaxation and clean air - this is it! The Pimento Lodge Resort is hand crafted and carefully curated as a garden with accommodation and food. Garden first, because healthy green trees are everywhere - the most striking view is from the pool deck built on the side of a cliff overlooking a real life forest and into the yarning ocean below! Let's talk about accommodation, everything was neatly appointed and modern. First of all I felt very secure because of the high walls that surround the building and the way each individual villas was perched to give maximum view out and over the property. The bed was majestic with four huge royal posts. The bathroom was also nice appointed, Lloyd the owner was very proud of his solar water heater, since ecological conservation was always on his mind. Food - that first night we got in late, maybe around 11pm (hey it's Jamaica mon - it could have been 10pm) . The team of Lloyd and his wife stayed up for us and whe nwe told them that we drove 4 hours through the night rain to get there, they welcomed us with a warm meal of steamed fresh fish. Breakfast was included in the price for the room and that was served 5 star style. The people - We meet Lloyd and his wife the first day, that first meeting felt like meeting old friends, but the best part were the team who went above and belong to served us graciously. Jamaica has a wealth of hidden gems for the inquisitive tourist. The Pimento Lodge is one of those priceless jewels that offers far more than just an alternative to the all-inclusive experience. Huge rooms with comfortable beds, air conditioning, and glorious views of the Caribbean Sea are just the beginning. Katherine and Lloyd are superb hosts, excellent cooks, and go out of their way to insure you have perfect stay and want to come back. We stayed here for a week three years ago and had an amazing time. Lloyd and Kate went to great lengths to ensure our stay was excellent. We are a family of 5 (kids 14, 12 and 9 at the time) and our family room was perfect. The gardens are beautiful and really well looked after and the pool was gorgeous. Lloyd was the perfect host and we spent many hours chatting over a beer or cocktail. The food was great- lots of fresh local fruit and they introduced us to local foods whilst also accommodating our fussy children! The views were to die for and the local beach was totally untouristy. Lloyd helped us with arranging trips to nearby waterfalls which were amazing and a fantastic river rafting experience! He even cut fresh aloe vera from the garden to help soothe one of my daughters insect bites! Although it has taken us over three years to write this review (sorry!) we still often talk about our wonderful holiday at Pimento Lodge and would love to return one day. We hope all is well :)…
