To be honest, I didn't really know much about Byrdir before we arrived (my other half had booked the stay, I'd just nodded and agreed) but I was absolutely delighted with her choice. OK, so it's a little off the beaten path, but nothing wrong with that in my opinion. Our room was, I think, the smallest of the accommodation...

A gorgeous place to stay, up a narrow country road, in a beautiful part of North Wales. We had one of the studio apartments (in the renovated outhouses) and also a room in the main farmhouse. The rooms were comfortable and had everything you might need, and some treats like a decanter of sherry! Breakfast was delicious, with a large...

We stayed in "Stabal" which is a converted stable with a ladder up to your bed . Nice and quirky , you are left alone by the friendly owners and can come and go as you please The breakfast is excellent and this is a good base to visit Barmouth, Harlech & we went as far as Aberystwyth. You have...

My wife and I have just come back from a 4 day stay at Byrdir. The comments from all the other reviewers are fully justified. Great welcome, Gwion is a very friendly and entertaining host, location and set up is great, Dell greets you as soon as you arrive, the ducks seem content on their small pond. We stayed in...

Had the most relaxing time staying here. Brilliant location and exceptional, relaxed service from the owners (and the dog and goose). A great mix between the freedom of self-catering facilities and having a big cooked breakfast prepared for you every morning. A perfect base for walking in the hills and down on the beautiful coastline. The service you receive here...

What else can I say? Unfortunately we could only stay one night, but it was fantastic. We arrived by motorbike and had not even got off when we were greeted by the family dog, a stick was kindly dropped on my partners foot, this started a long game of fetch! As we walked to the front door the two ducks...

We had a lovely 3 night stay. We were also able to semi self cater in the studio rooms. Louise's breakfast were lovely and Gwion was wonderfully welcoming. We had stunning weather and enjoyed the cheap local transport and wonderful coastline walks. Coming 'home' at night to Byrdir with panoramic views and quiet countryside was both relaxing and refreshing.

We stayed at Byrdir for 3 nights with our 6 month old baby and really enjoyed it. We were looking for somewhere quiet to spend some time together that was close to the beach and in a beautiful location - Byrdir was perfect. Our studio cottage was well appointed with a very cosy feel. It had a first floor balcony...

I have been going to Byrdir since 1987 and always found it a delightfull place to stay. It is a mile above the village of Dyffryn Ardudwy and you could not find a more peacefull place. All the rooms are comfortable and well equiped, plus there are a number of self contained studios with a great view out to sea....

This was the second trip to Byrdir. We were not disappointed....it is impossible to beat the welcome, accommodation, breakfast, view and home comforts. Attention to every little detail is taken care of....this is the perfect place for a short break or holiday, the mountains on your door step. All five of us walked to the Rhinogs from the B&B -...

“Nant, part of a converted barn, was warm and cosy. Twin beds are in the downstairs bedroom. The double bed in the upstairs loft is accessible only by a set of steep steps. If you are very tall, you may find the loft a little uncomfortable. Great view from the window tho'!”

“I've now stopped in all 5 bedrooms. They all are great. Ty Gwair doesn't have a sea view, but you can watch the ducks in the pond and experience the sunrise without getting out of bed!”

“If you are a couple, ask to stay in one of the rooms away from the farmhouse, where you climb a wooden stepladder and sleep on a platform. Ask them when you book, they will know what you mean!”

“If your not good with steep stairs or ladders try Beudy as you can have the beds dowstairs, but my other half has problems with stairs and didnt find going up and down the steps in Melin a problem at all.”
