Just returned from a week long stay with our best friends. Site is very well maintained, showers and toilets spotless. A very short stroll to a beautifully clean beach.

We hadn't been aware of the charge for showers, and while 50p isn't much, when you multiply this by 4 people and 7 nights, it adds to the already very expensive charge per night. We weren't told that shower cards needed purchased from reception, and when went for a shower on the first night, we didn't have a card, and reception was closed.

Other downside was being unable to stay on the same field. Tents and Campervans are unable to be in the same field. We respected this rule, however disappointed that this rule didn't seem to apply to everyone. Had we been able to camp alongside each other (there were only 3 other tents in the field), it would've been perfect.

Site was very quiet during our stay. Most touring caravans are seasonal and had very few people staying. This made the toilets very quiet, which meant they were always spotless.

Overall we had a great week

Had a truly lovely holiday here; 2 adults, 3 children and one dog. Booked the van privately from a friend so can't comment on the sites booking system/caravans. What I will say is the vans are nicely spaced out so you don't get much noise/disturbance from your neighbours! The club can get a little loud until about 11pm ish but didn't disturb our children.

The facilities are good; nice, well stocked shop that allows card payments (£3 min spend), a play park, chip shop, pub/restaurant and leisure centre. Chippy was expensive but gorgeous food freshly cooked so well worth it.

Pool is quite a small size and can get very crowded when busy, especially on rainy days, but kids loved it. The staff there were a bit hit and miss though! First couple of visits we were served by a young lad who was lovely. He allowed my children to borrow goggles from a big box he kept behind the counter and he put lots of floats out for people to use. When we went on day three there was instead a slightly militant older lady who didn't put out any floats and demanded 50p per pair of goggles. We queried why they were free the first two days and not now, but just got a sour glare and a repeat of the charge rather than an explanation.

The locker keys are given with no charge, which is handy. The changing rooms are small with only two changing booths, so if you are shy about changing in front of other people this could be an issue for you on busier days!

Site is very handy for beach access; only a ten minute walk from the shop, and a lovely stroll through the dunes.

All in all a very nice little site in a fantastic spot for exploring Barmouth, Harlech, Portmeirion etc., and only an hour's drive to Snowdon. Already planned out return trip :)

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here over the jubilee weekend camping. I must say the site and pitches are exceptionally clean good size pitches. The shower and toilet block was absolutely spotless and the free shower cards reception gave us were greatly welcome. A lovely 10 minute shower and 30 minutes on either the phone charge or hair dryer was fantastic.. Reception staff were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for you . I will definitely be back and will highly recommend it to all family and friends .
Thankyou Dyffryn Seaside Estates

The site itself is lovely and very close to the beach however if you want a shower and that’s a necessity to you don’t come here unless you want to be going back and forth to reception and then back and forth from the shower to figure if it’s going to work or not as you have to have a shower card that gives you 8 mins . Out of. 10 cards we only had 8 that worked ! The lady that cleans the toilets was so lovely and gave us some to try so we could get a shower and went out of her way to bring them to us to the tent (7 months pregnant and several trips to attempt a shower was tiring !!)

Reception however replace the cards but it’s just try it and if it doesn’t work come back - who has time for that ?

Real shame as the rest of the site is lovely ! So many people have this issue so be aware if it’s essential jusg re think and camp elsewhere.

We have just returned home from a relaxing holiday here. We stayed in a lodge which we have done on a few occasions. The accommodation was spacious, clean and home from home. The lady manager is always friendly and pleasant. Her Husband, never has a smile on his face, comes across as very arrogant!
The only negative i can give regarding the lodges are that you are situated between lodge owners, who seem to think they are better than you. Not friendly at all, and whilst trying to relax we had someone by us all week jet washing every night from 4pm up until 10pm. (The same piece of decking area too). We booked the lodge area as we refuse to stay in the caravans, as we always ended up with rodwy folkes next to us, either getting drunk, blasting music, or having fights! Didn't want my children witnessing these things again, so the past few occasions we have paid extra for the lodge site.

There was another owner who got into trouble for allowing her dog to run wild off the lead chasing the wild rabbits, then shouting I don't give a toss what that jobsworth lacky tells me to do, i will do what i like i own this place! But apart from that great site and a lovely view of the mountains...

The beach is lovely, you can walk for miles, clean and just golden sands. Nice blue sea for everyone to enjoy, Just be aware of the hidden riptides.

The chip shop and cafe have got very expensive, I would recommend you take your own food. £8 for a sandwich (a best) £4.50 for sausage and egg. The chip shop roughly £25-£30 for 3 meals, and not a lot in either, we were still hungry.

Theres a guy parked just passed the shop charging £4 for parking not sure what thats about, as this applies to park users too. So people who have mobility or breathing issues and probably drove to be closer to the beach entrance, you will now have to pay.

The general store on site is great, Good for everything you need. Friendly male owner who is always appreciative. And the store is very well stocked daily.

Been camping to the sites around but never to this actual site before now.

Lovely site. Decent amount of camping pitches level with water and electric for each pitch. Very spacious - easily enough for our setup or a very large family tent plus car at the side.

Food at the Dyffryn Inn was absolutely gorgeous the roast on Sunday was delicious and definitely check out the chip shop and breakfast cafe in the morning.

The shop on site was a little pricey ( as you would expect I suppose) but has most things you could want and was open from 8am I think until 9pm at night every day.

We didn't use the leisure/swimming facilities as my son was wanting a break from swimming training so was glad to be out of the pool for a change LOL, but I did read the rules regarding children were quite strict so I would not have been happy if I had had to go in with him due to his age and level of swimming ability.

Toilet facilities and chemical disposal perfectly fine and clean although there were a couple of locks on the toilets that were broken. Showers again perfectly fine and clean although these could have been slightly updated (being very picky). I welcomed the use of the card and limited shower time as some people could have been ages in the shower especially if it is busy so restricting the time (can't remember what it was now) is a very good idea.

Didn't use the washing up facilities as we had our own.

The site was very well kept, clean and tidy and I never saw a warden on the camping field although they were around maintaining the site.

Nice touch to have the mobile toilets on each field but here is a negative - why lock them during the day????? not everyone has camping toilets and if you are like me and need an emergency wee or number 2 might not make it to the main toilet block if you don't have chemical toilet facilities.

Just a couple of points which could improve the site and they are::

Have a drainage system at the water points as the water may made the ground sodden and muddy.

A personal light at each pitch would be a nice idea.

Update the toilet and shower blocks.

Do away with locking the mobile toilets during the day.

Other than that thank you for an enjoyable stay and we hope to visit again very soon.

Came again this year hoping they may have taken note of peoples reviews and comments but it seems worse than I remember.
If you have the wether then it’s ok your kids will love the outdoors but for the cost I would recommend taking them somewhere more for families
This site is very clean and tidy and just a few mins walk from the beach but

For £3k site fees on a tourer you would expect the swimming at least to be part of the package but no it’s over nearly £400 on top for the season or £30 for two day pass every time . The pool is clean but very small, you’re not aloud to have fun. The changing rooms again are tiny and no good if you come in with small children .

The park is lovely for kids but that’s about it

The club house, well I wouldn’t call it that
You have a few machines for the kids to play on but nothing else .
It expensive and they do not like kids .
Our family were the only ones in there and spent a few hundred pounds yet our kids were told to go play outside (even in the rain) they do not put much on for kids even in holidays
The food there is lovely but again
quite expensive for what you get.

This will be our last season providing the weather is ok and the kids can play outdoors

We camped for 7 nights, over the Jubilee weekend. The pitches are very large each with its own tap. At the end of each Paddock a Portaloo which is opened at night to save a walk to the shower block. Ardudwy itself doesn’t have much to offer, a Spar and garage although the beach itself is the best beach we’ve been to in the UK. There’s a nice old Mill pub called the Ysgethin Inn which is about a 1.5 mile hike away in Talybon. You can use the site as a base to explore, the train station is about a 1 mile walk away, we discovered a footpath through the fields which knocked 10 mins off the walk, but it would have been helpful if the site staff could supply a few maps to show short cuts!!

Minus 10 for me! Wouldn't recommend this site to families. We've been twice, once at the beginning of the year, and now just come back from a week there. What can I say, apart from, stay clear. They're not at all family orientated. Big bust up happened in the pub the 3rd night, which one of the fights was instigated by the owner of the site, whilst kids present. Not a friendly guy that you'd want running an established/business that he's meant (meant said very loosely) managing. A little lad was bitten by one of the holiday makers' pets, not once was that little lad asked if he was okay by management, disgusting. Having to pay a £10 deposit for a piece of plastic to let you in the toilet is beyond ridiculous, maybe a couple of quid, but £10! Money is at the forefront of their minds! Wouldn't dream of staying here again!!

Response from Darren Bowater, General Manager at Dyffryn Seaside Estate

Thank you for your review. I would firstly like to apologise for the incident that occurred during our charity event in aid of Macmillan, none of the incidents were caused by myself or staff, we do appreciate that it was unpleasant for anyone to witness, we never normally have trouble like this in our pub, my family and I have been running the site for the past 50 years. I would also like to clarify a few of the comments that you have made. I did not start any fights in the pub during the "Big Bust Up", I was assisting the manageress of the pub when I was punched in the eye by a young man who had for some reason thought I was arguing with her (the manageress of the pub), she happens to be his mother in law, a few other arguments broke out and I escorted a few people off the premises, the original instigator of the trouble was a middle aged lady who was arguing and intimidating a lot of the customers and their children, the manageress was attempting to remove her from the premises but she was proving very difficult by thrashing out at other customers. With reference to the young lad who was bitten by a holiday makers pet, perhaps you did not see my wife and a trained nurse (who is a caravan owner) treating the young lad and discussing the matter with the young lads parents, they were discussing if he needed to attend A&E, his parents decided that he would be ok. Whilst my wife was with the young lad and his parents I was visiting the Touring Caravan owner who's dog had bitten the young lad so that I could find out what had happened. With regards to the £10 deposit for the "Barrier access card", as you said, we do ask for a £10 deposit for this card, it is a refundable deposit and we clearly state on all of our booking forms and price lists that we ask for this refundable deposit to be paid. The reason we have had to install the barrier system together with the controlled access to the toilet and shower buildings is due to the fact that there is a neighbouring farmers campsite without any facilities, these customer were constantly using our facilities.

First visit here and, hopefully, not the last! Our family had a great week. Some of us stayed in the caravans and some camping. All the facilities were excellent and having a dishwasher in the caravan was an unexpected bonus! The children loved the freedom of the safe site and the proximity to the dunes/beaches was perfect. We even saw a dolphin on a couple of occasions. Surrounding area has everything you need for the perfect holiday. The staff were all lovely and friendly, including the lady who apologised to my family who turned up 5 minutes too late for swimming last entry time and were denied entry! Probably the only tiny negatives were the set hours/entry for the pool as quite busy as well. Also having the timer on the shower on the outside of the cubicle so the occupant didn’t know when their hot water would run out! If the estate improved their website they would probably have more guests, but I guess with so many returning guests they don’t need to! Thank you so much for a wonderful place to make happy memories.
