Booked for 2 nights, but left after one. Plus side - breakfast is very good and the 2 ladies working there are friendly and helpful, even if the language is a bit choice! The rooms, sadly are not very clean and would benefit from a great deal of TLC. Bed was held together with extra screws and there were mdf...

Stayed for a couple of days to visit a friend and couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Breakfast was delicious, and we got to have a chinwag whilst eating - despite being an hour and a half late downstairs! The rooms are what you would expect for the money, but there is no doubt that the people who...

Stayed at the Tredegar for 4 nights. Sam is a great host and very accommodating. Even gave us a lift to nearest town. Debbie who runs the place does very professionally making sure you have everything you need during your stay. I would stay here again and recommend this place. Cheap comfortable and clean. Well done Sam and Debbie.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An 8 bedroom, fully ensuite, family-run hotel located 20 miles from Cardiff and just 5 miles from the Brecon Beacons National Park and just 200 yards off A465. The Hotel was built in the late 1820s and was originally owned by the Global Iron and Steel Barons Guest, Keen and Nettlefold (GKN). In 1900 the hotel was sold to John Basageleo whose father came to Merthyr from Italy to work as a miner and found work in a local drift mine. The Hotel has been run by the same family for the last 10 years in which time we have built a good reputation serving fine ales and beer. We have ample car parking at the rear of the premises. The hotel bar is also fully licensed featuring a range of ales, spirits and soft drinks. You can enjoy a tasty bar meal with a lunchtime drink or sit and relax with friends. Pasta, seafood, curries, salads and a choice of fresh-cut sandwiches are always available. Tredegar Arms Hotel has a policy to maintain the highest standard of service. ... more   less
