When I told my Welsh friend we were spending a couple of days in Merthyr she was somewhat surprised. We don't own a car and travel everywhere by train so breaks are partly determined by where the trains run to. I noticed the Brecon Beacon mountain railway and if the weather was miserable there was a castle we could visit...

Stayed here again. Another warm welcome. Secure parking for motorbikes. Clean and tidy room. Lovely breakfast. Not luxury accommodation but good and homely in the quirky building with the handy bar downstairs and straight onto the high street.

We were greeted with a warm smile & each given a bag to put our soggy attire in. As others have mentioned,...

Really pleased we stayed at the Imperial, we had a little fun trying to find the place but that is down to the Sat Nav and the town one-way system not playing nicely. Parking very secure, felt comfortable leaving my bike in the car overnight. Perfectly located for BikePark Wales. Showers very good and the bed comfortable.
