Just a lovely place to stay. Two warm and comfortable bedrooms with lovely power showers in the en-suites. The front bedroom has a super view across the countryside and the larger, extended bedroom has a sitting area overlooking the fabulous garden up the hillside behind.

Breakfast is served in the spacious kitchen and has a really good selection of local and homemade produce, catering for many special dietary requirements and tastes delicious.

Location is a few minutes drive outside Merthyr with a good range of restaurant and pub options nearby. Ideally located for walking and biking local trails, the reservoirs and Bike Park Wales. And just 10 mins from the new zip line

What makes the difference here though is your hosts! Super friendly and really helpful - whether for local insight or storing bikes and dealing with soggy gear (it’s Wales after all 😉) Always our first choice for somewhere to stay and already booked to go back in September.

Booked Arfryn Guesthouse via booking.com and anytime there’s any questions, the owners (Alun & Sally) would answer my questions ASAP. Upon arrival at the property, I was welcomed and given a beautiful and large guest room. Breakfast is included but dinner can also be served (with additional charges). This property is very near South Welsh highest mountain - Pen y Fan and inside Brecon Beacon National Park. A large reservoir/ lake Llwyn Onn is just across the road from the property

Lovely location, delighting the senses and making a wonderful base to explore South Wales and its winsome landscapes. Our hosts were very friendly, made us feel welcome and were attentive to our needs, going out of their way to ensure we would not lack anything (supplementary meals, delicious vegan options, thorough instructions) as Wales was just in the process of reopening its doors to the larger public. The additional measures they took to ensure the safety of everyone under their roof (hand sanitiser everywhere, limiting the number of guests, sensible distancing) was done a way that felt organic and human.
Our room was perfect, as was every aspect of our stay; we shall be back. Thank you for your hospitality, Sally and Alun.
Take good care!

What a lovely couple! Sally and Alun really made our stay special for us. Stunnung setting. They calm ouir worries given the recent flooding and assured us withn a welcome of mugs of tea on arrival. Their hospitality was second to none.
The room was immaculate and welcoming. Lovely bed; spacious bathrom and great view across the reservoir. Lovely garden with bird-feeding to mesmerise! Breakfast was plentiful with eggs from their chickens/ hens, homemade bread and jams.. Wonderful service to meet our needs and great service and conversations during breakfast.
We went off walking each day - drying rom for our clothes if needed. We were so at home and we will be back again, and again!!

Welcoming hosts, very comfortable room with a large seating area, excellent shower room and a comfortable bed. Sally & Alun provided a wide range of tasty breakfast choices and the addition of evening meals during covid-19 restrictions was very welcome. The covid-19 precautions taken made us feel very safe. Our hosts were keen to provide us with local information and to make our stay an enjoyable one. There is plenty to explore in the area and we plan to return!

We stayed for three nights to celebrate my birthday and explore Brecon Beacons National park. It was a wonderful stay, made even better thanks to Alun and Sally who run the place

Location: Extremely convenient, right on A470. There is a secure parking spot if you drove. If you are arriving after dark and from Cardiff, you need to be a bit careful as you may easily miss the house and there are no streetlights.

Room: A very nice, clean room with very comfortable bed. The bathroom is also very well appointed and clean. There is a small seating area within the room overlooking the vegetable patch and a hill side with a small waterfall. There is a fridge, tea/coffee, cookies and fresh milk...all provided free of cost.

Breakfast: yummy breakfast, delightfully cooked fresh to order by Sally. Alun also contributes with his yoghurt berry compote. Even better is the conversations my wife and I had with Alun and Sally. We ended up having one hour long breakfast thanks to the conversation.

Helpfulness: Alun is a wonderful ambassador of the area. He showed us the way to the four trails waterfall and the devil's staircase...both of them were spectacular. He even let me borrow his walking shoes when he realised I don't have the right shoes! Very kind and gracious of both of them

If you want to go for a quiet break and there are only two of you, I will recommend this B&B any day. I wish them all the success. Thank you for having us.

Wonderful stay in a light, spacious, ensuite room. There was a wide choice available for breakfast and our hosts were happy to give us tips and recommendations for hikes, cycling trips and restaurants in the area. Overall, a lovely B&B with welcoming hosts!

We have had an amazing 2 night stay. The room was absolutely stunning. The bed was so comfortable and the seating area looking out through a big window was a lovely touch. Sally and Alun were welcoming, friendly and helpful, providing plenty of information on the local area, including places to go for dinner and hiking trails. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. The location was perfect for exploring the Brecon Beacons and Bike Park Wales. We will definately come again!

Our stay at Arfryn House was amazing! Hosts Sally and Alun were fantastic throughout - very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was spacious with a large en-suite bathroom and both were very clean. Breakfast was great and served with a smile. Precautions against coronavirus were taken sensibly and we felt very safe. Highly recommend!!

We couldn't of asked for better hosts and BnB!
Alun & Sally were so welcoming , warm & knowledgable. They went above and beyond to make our stay in the Brecon Beacons perfect and we miss the 'special breakfast' already haha.
They made sure we had all the information we needed for each day and nothing was too much trouble.

We cannot wait to return (with a better bike) and explore even more of this beautiful part of the world!

Thank you again,

Bethany & Luke
