We stayed in The Snug for one night when visiting a relative nearby. It was a beautiful location with countryside views and easy parking, just a few minutes drive from Caerleon. It was spotlessly clean. We were 2 friends travelling together, not a couple, so the arrangement of one bed upstairs and one in the lounge downstairs was ideal and made this much better value than needing to book 2 separate rooms. The shower-room and bedroom are open plan upstairs - no doors, but that's fine even for friends as one of us stayed in the lounge whilst the other showered. The toilet is enclosed and at the top of the stairs, so can be accessed at night by whoever is sleeping downstairs if needed. The kitchen had a fridge, 2 ring hob, counter top oven and microwave plus cookware so everything you needed to prepare a meal. The beds were comfy and there were curtains and blinds for all windows. A bonus feature was Brian the host who is very friendly and helpful. He cooked a lovely breakfast and took the time to sit and chat with us, which we really appreciated. He had also thoughtfully provided a pint of milk in the fridge plus tea, coffee and sugar and even little things like washing up liquid. I would recommend this place and enjoyed my stay.

This B&B has 3 lettings, but only one allows dogs, so is suitable for both travellers with dogs and those who don't want to stay somewhere which has had dogs in it. Brian is a very friendly and personable host. The Snug, which is the dog friendly unit, is the best of both worlds, being let on a B&B basis but also having a fully stocked kitchen with fridge, microwave, small oven and hobs, allowing you to self cater your evening meal. It has its own entrance, so nobody else is disturbed when your dog wants to go out at 4 am (and the stars are amazing if it's not raining), and a lovely garden to wander around with them. I will definitely be back if I need B&B in the area again.

Just stayed for the one night as we were attending a concert in Cardiff. Superb location for that, but what a beautiful area too, which I wish we had the time to explore. Brain, our host was fantastic, helping with directions and very friendly. The accommodation was very clean and perfect for our needs. Would definitely recommend.

Host welcoming, building and grounds lovely. OK for an overnight stay, personally I wouldn't want to stay any longer than that. Bedding and beds lovely, rooms tidy, lacking a bit on coffee/tea tray...only coffee and tea. Would of preferred the option of a cooked breakfast, seemed only things on offer were cerals and toast.Felt too laid back to be honest, to the point of you were staying at a friend of a freinds house, not giving off b&b vibes. OK for some, sadly not for us.

We arrived at the Granary and there was no one to meet and greet - no prior warning that this might be the case. Eventually found a scribbled note with a mobile number which we rang and got a rather unfriendly response. The quality of the décor/furnishings in the our area was shabby to say the least. There was only a half consumed carton of UHT milk in the fridge. Can't recall the last time we arrived at a B & B and didn't get a welcoming cuppa and piece of cake. What saved the day was that the owner took us to Newport and Caerleon in the morning when our taxi failed to arrive.

A last minute decision to visit South wales for the Eater break was made and we were recommended by a friend to stay at the Granary and it did not disappoint. We were staying in the Den, which had a double bed and a single bed on a mezzanine level with the living are and kitchen facilities and bathroom on the ground floor. It was a perfect base for us to visit nearby Usk, Caerleon and foray in to the Brecon Beacons.

The host Brian was extremely welcoming offering lots of local knowledge, lending us his maps and making a hearty cooked breakfast in the morning. Parking is secure and we even visited the dairy farm opposite t watch the cows being milked.

We would definitely stay again and recommend to all.

We stayed for 2 nights in the Snug during July .We had good weather so was able to enjoy the lovely outside gardens at the Granary .
Brian and his family were very welcoming and we enjoyed the cooked breakfasts .
With safe parking this place ticked all the boxes for us .
The snug was very comfortable, and with plenty to see in the area this was a good start to our trip round Wales .

This is a ba nd B with a difference!! There are three units with two self contained with kitchen units. The setting is idyllic and the hosts very friendly. At a reasonable cost with Breakfast to the highest standard and withihn the counctry kichen of the hosts. Very recommended. Just inside the welsh border it is within easy reach of the beaches of south wales, the city of Carfiff and yet just across the bridge (30 minutes) to bristol and Bath. A Roman fort is close by and well worth a vist. Try it! We will certainly be back!!!

My first stay here was in 2005. Brian and Deb are so friendly and so kind they add to the wonderful experience of being in the hills of the Welsh countryside. It is so peaceful and quiet and a great place to unwind. My husband was a bit of a talker and joker and he and Brian became fast friends. My latest stay in August, 2015, was like being home. My "place" is the Snug. It has everything anyone could need. It is comfortable and quite large. Breakfast is an experience. Brian will cook you a proper breakfast if you can eat that much. I may have her name wrong, Maggie the Labradoodle, would bring me a stuffed Teddy every morning when I entered the main house. I can't say I have ever stayed anywhere like this. Sit on the patio and enjoy the beautiful views, the gardens, and the farm animals (chickens and geese). It holds a very special place in my heart.

"The Snug is good for self-catering and lots of space for family or couples, but be careful with the beams - my husband hit his head several times! We also like the loft window very much - you can see lots of starts at night."
