Built in the 1800’s, Yr Hafan is a delightful holiday complex of 2 lovely stone built self-catering cottages and a boutique B & B set in 1.5 acres of landscaped gardens and access to 2 large fields - ideal for dog walking. Yr Hafan enjoys an enviable location in the Pembrokeshire National Park. Situated just 1.5 miles from the pretty fishing village of Porthgain with its galleries, famous pub - The Sloop Inn - and award-winning fish restaurant - The Shed, Yr Hafan is only 6 miles from St. David’s and some 9 miles from Fishguard. Within 2 miles are the sandy beaches of Traethllyfyn, Abermawr and Abereiddy (with its famous Blue Lagoon) and just 6 miles away is the Blue Flag beach at Whitesands, one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Once again the perfect stay in the perfect location with the perfect hosts, Jane & Anthony, it’s doesn’t get any better than this…Ya Hafan.
Been visiting for 6 years and usually stay in Pencear cottage which is our favourite home by the sea. This year, as only a short break, stayed in the boutique B&B suite, Abercastle, for the first time. Furnished with style and elegance as well as being extremely comfortable, we thoroughly relaxed and enjoyed Abercastle.
Jane & Anthony provided delicious breakfast choices, fantastic quality, thoughtfully prepared and presented.
The gardens are so peaceful with plenty of places to sit and soak up both the flowers in garden and the stunning far reaching views out to sea.
We enjoy returning each year to revisit the fantastic coastal paths that surround the area, amazing views and scenery on endless walks, as well as the small but stunning city of St David’s with its impressive cathedral. Porthgain is a gem of a harbour that thankfully remains unspoilt, a great local pub, restaurant and shop with excellent art gallery. Also a starting point for more glorious walks.
Above all though, it’s the magic that is ‘Ya Hafan’ that keeps bringing us back time and again, this magic is created both from the stunning location, quality accommodation and by Jane & Anthony, their personal welcome, useful knowledge of the area and friendly approach have cast the perfect spell on us!
Many thanks indeed Ya Hafan ! Thank you Jane & Anthony We will be back Rose & Dave

We stayed in Pencaer Cottage, a wonderful cottage for 2. It was immaculate and had everything we needed. Jane and Tony take great pride in their cottages and this shows in cleanliness and quality of items/furnishings in the cottage. They had thought of everything. There was lovely patio area at the end of the cottage which was quite private and the views were stunning. The weather allowed us to have our evening meal outside and enjoyed the far reaching sights. The location of the property was a 35 minute walk to Porthgain where we had meals in The Shed and drinks in The Sloop. We could not fault our week away and definitely look forward to our return visit. We would not hesitate to recommend Yr Hafan. Thank you Jane and Tony.

Yr Hafan exceeded our expectations in every way. We stayed in Abercastle, a beautifully appointed room with high ceilings, exposed beams, underfloor heating and stylish decor. The breakfast, which was brought to us in a quaint picnic basket every morning, was delicious and generous. The owners, Anthony and Jane are the sort of people you would love to have living next door to you, just lovely people! We had a perfect 4 night stay.

Well what a lovely stay were having here. I waited so long to stay here as I had to put it off a couple of times due to my gall bladder flaring up. Bev was so kind and let us defer the dates as there was no way I could have travelled. The house is so warm and cosy and has absolutely everything you need for a home from home comfortable stay. Spotlessly clean fresh towels and bedding there was nothing we needed. We did bring blankets for the furniture as we have a bad habit of letting our dogs on the sofas to cuddle up with us. The location was also brilliant. The weather was a mix of sun and showers but it didn't stop us from touring around. If you didn't know where to go Bev has a book that she has made up for you with places to visit . They have thought of everything here and we'll definitely be coming back again soon. 💖💖😡

I spent the month of August traveling in the U.K., and Yr Hafan was one of my very best experiences in terms of accommodations. Cordial hosts, spotless cleanliness, beautifully decorated rooms, extensive grounds, what more could you ask for? Oh yes, a lovely distant ocean view! I stayed in the B&B section and it had every amenity you could imagine. I did not have a car because I was walking the Pembrokeshire coast path so I walked to Porthgain for meals. This is quite doable by taking the walking path from Llanrhian. If you are traveling in Pembrokeshire, give yourself a treat and stay at Yr Hafan.

Hr Hafan was recommended to us by a friend who had stayed there and loved it. We stayed from 3rd to 10th April 21. We were the first guests at Pencaer Cottage after lockdown was eased for travellers from Wales. The cottage is beautiful. An independent company is responsible for the cleaning and the standard is extremely high. Pencaer Cottage is warm, cosy and very comfortable. We felt that we could relax straight away. The kitchen is very well equipped to self cater. The owners Anthony and Jane made us feel very welcome and we were encouraged to explore their fabulous garden. It is clearly important to them that their guests have a wonderful holiday. Lots of little touches that make Yr Hafan a very special place to stay. Great advice about local walks and places to see. Pencaer Cottage has the most wonderful views of the coastline from the cottage and the pretty seating area. It was tempting just to sit and look at the sea all day. The cottage is ideally located to explore the area either on foot or by car /public transport. It was our first visit to Pembrokeshire and we loved this particular section of the coast. Anthony and Jane have got it just right. Thank you. We look forward to returning.

Very welcoming host, beautiful gardens and great cottage. It is obviously right on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, so great for walking and visiting nearby coves and harbours and a nice beach at Whitesands for bodyboarding etc. The cottage offered a good little book of cicular walks in the area. We are also keen cyclists and the roads are a revelation; great surfaces, even the side roads are quite wide with good passing (if needed as the traffic was very light). The house is on National Cycle route 4 and 17 is just down the road at Fishguard. We used 'Lost Lanes - Wales' for some ride suggestions, but just a map would do. The roads wind down to beautiful coves and lighthouses, but the road out of Fishguard into the hills was a revelation, miles of wooded, atmospheric lanes into the hills. Great shelter from the wind from the miles of natural 'walls' as well. Cycling paradise, with climbing!

Yr Hafan is situated in a really great spot with stunning views of the sea. Tony and Jane were really wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is beautifully decorated with lots of lovely little touches which make all the difference. Very kind people and very much want their guests to have an enjoyable stay. Just back from a week at Pencaer Cottage. Lovely 2 person accommodation (which will also take one dog).
Hard to write a review as torn between wanting to let people know just how good it is and wanting to keep it quiet so we could book again more easily!
Firstly, accommodation is spot-on. It has everything you need, was spotless, well appointed and it also has its own private patio area with a view overlooking the coast (perfect for sunset (and sunrise…if you’re up that early!)).
The owners, Anthony and Jane are great. Friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the local area (ask for advice on anything including the Coastal Path walks).
Finally, explore the gardens of the cottage…they are the icing on the cake; lots of places to sit and read or just admire the gardens themselves (keep eye out for foxes and badgers in the neighbouring field as well).
Will visit again.

We had a wonderful stay in the Abercaslte Suite. Anthony and Jane, our hosts, gave us a very warm welcome, which made us feel very comfortable straight away. The great view from the beautiful garden invites you to relax on one of the many seating areas. I also recommend everyone to take the delicious and varied breakfast - it was perfect. We already miss this beautiful place and hope to come back someday.
