Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were welcomed by Kat after a day of exploring Wales. The food and drinks were reasonably priced and the hosting from Kat was second to none. The bathroom does have a saniflow toilet which is to be expected in such an old historic building that has been retrofitted to modern standards. The amenities were good and the rate to stay was well priced. Access to the Pembrokeshire coastal path was close and well marked. The room was well suited to a couple who are looking to explore the local area. We loved the pub, atmosphere and chatting with the locals. No complaints at all from our visit and I cannot wait to stay again.

Food excellent and value for money. Most importantly it’s a real pub with character. Simple pub food delivered with honesty. ‘Long live The Ship and all who sail in her’. PS The beer is great as well.

Stayed here for a couple of nights. Room was airy and bed very comfortable. Really looked after by the hosts Simon and Kat from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Fantastic local scene in the bar and the food was really top notch. Easy to explore the local area from here to which we did. St David's is 10 mins down ghdcroad and easy access to local beauty spots as well. Will definitely go back and stay again.

Stayed one night, very basic accommodation in dated rooms. Duvet was the thinnest I’ve ever encountered, bathroom had a horrible macerator toilet that switched on whenever a tap was run. Shower needed a good clean too. Basic breakfast. Chose to eat our evening meal elsewhere. Landlord friendly enough though, but guess he was getting £80 for a pretty average room.

We did arrive early (around 2pm) but were told in no uncertain terms that the room was not ready and we should come back at 4pm. We spent a lovely time in Solva and came back quite a while before 4pm. We sat in the bar for just a short while and were then shown to our room so all was well. It was comfortable with a good breakfast in the morning. We didn't eat here so are unable to comment on the evening food. I have to comment on the rather hilarious mirror in the bathroom which (at 5'7" I'm not small) but I could barely see more that the top of my head - it was hung so high. This was the cheapest hotel on our route of walking the Pembrokeshire Coastal Walk (£65 for a twin room) and it was perfectly adequate and decent value for money.

Having spent the morning by the river with the family and the dogs I went for a wander into the village. Checked out the little pottery shop and popped into the Ship for a swift livener. Very warm welcome to myself and my Irish Wolfhound. Friendly chat with a couple of the regulars. The Inn has 3 bedrooms but not 'dog friendly' due to previous bad experiences. Can't blame them for that. Some dog owners can be inconsiderate. Stop off for a pint, I'd recommend it.

A small village pub that’s stereotypical. 3 bedrooms. Simon and Kathie are great hosts. The room was small (everything is in this pub) but nicely decorated with Freesat tv, coffee/tea etc. Hotels.com says WiFi in public rooms but they’ve since added a guest network upstairs. Solid WiFi signal throughout Breakfast (included) was an excellent full English. Meals were from the Marston’s menu, which is extensive by pub standards. They were perfectly prepared and presented. We ate well!! Promos offered excellent value too. Curry night was to die for! Parking is almost next door but is local authority. Free from 17:00 to 09:00. If you’re taking a leisurely breakfast before heading out then pay £1 at 09:00. If walking the paths around Solva £5 gets you all day (including leaving and returning if needed). Parking attendants are a wealth of local knowledge and very helpful We’ll be back!

What a characterful pub in every respect in a delightful fishing village. Great beer, pub food and clean and friendly, what more can you want ? We will definitely be back next summer and it seems to be a great base camp for a walking holiday.
