Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely house in lovely location and highly recommended. View from bedrooms and balcony to die for. .

Ideal for walking the coastal path. Solva and harbour on the doorstep and St David’s and peninsula a short drive away.

Owners helpful and unobtrusive.

Would love to return and soon.

The room and the bathroom are spacious and well furnished. The hosts are amiable and the breakfast is very good. There is a nearby pub, but if you want to eat at a restaurant you have maybe a twelve minute walk down to lower Solva. The only other drawback is the sloping ceilings. You will probably knock your head against them at least once before you condition yourself to avoid them.

Glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. As you say the lower part of the village has a very good restaurant. It also has a lovely locals pub, another 'Brains' pub both serving good value food. There is also a great little cafe beside the river.

We have spent 4 nights at Pen Y Banc bed and breakfast. We appreciated the large and very confortable ramsey room with a spacious bathroom. We have been served very good breakfasts and have been offered to choose the day before what pleased us. We had a warm welcome and our hosts were very nice, pleasant and attentive. We recommend this b&b to anyone who comes to Pembrokeshire.

I had a lovely relaxing stay at Pen Y Banc during the summer. The room was light and airy with a lovely view of Ramsey Island, and the hosts welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed the opportunity to explore this area of Wales with some excellent ideas and information from the booklet in the room which provided ideas for excurions whatever the weather. The breakfast at PenY Banc is one of the best I've had at a Bed and Breakfast - ordeing what you want from the comprehensive menu the night before and saying what time you want to eat means that everything is cooked to perfection and hasn't been 'kept warm' for hours.

Thank you for a lovely stay, I'll definitely return next year when in need of re-charging my batteries once more.

Mike and Penny are perfect hosts - helpful, thoughtful and friendly. Location is superb and we were able to spend a long weekend without ever using the car as there are plenty of pubs within walking distance

The room was very clean, spacious with beautiful views. The bed was comfortable and a good size which we needed after a five and a half hour journey. The hosts were extremely easy going and understanding even after our massive delay. The breakfast was generous and expertly cooked. We enjoyed the walk down to the quay and the pubs in Lower Solva. There is easy access to the coastal path and St Davids is nearby and well worth a visit. We would definitely recommend Pen Y Banc as excellent value as a place to stay and hope to return next year.

We stayed for 4 nights at the beginning of may in the Skomer view room. A cosy room spacious and clean, with great views out to Skomer. The breakfasts were lovely, the bed was really comfortable and Mike and Penny were perfect hosts. We highly recommend Pen y Banc for an enjoyable stay.

Considering the room was lovely & the views out to sea were beautiful, I really wish our stay had been better at Pen Y Banc. Things started out badly when we found out (upon arrival) that Pen Y Banc had lost our 2-night reservation. Luckily, a last-minute cancellation meant a room was available for one night. For the next day, however, we were on our own (and I don't mean that figuratively, as apart from being told the name of the B&B down the road, we were left to find alternative accommodation on our own). While I appreciate that the situation was pretty awkward, my husband & I were left feeling as though we weren't welcome & were relieved to be on our way the next day.

I was so saddened to read this poor review! As Sockmaze said we were very embarrassed that there was a communication problem with their booking. In fact we hadn't received a confirmation email from them from Jakarta, Indonesia and had therefore assumed that they didn't want to book with us. A possible explanation was that it had gone into our spam box. Anyway, we were very happy to be able to offer them a room with us, due to an earlier cancellation. This suited us very well so I am at a loss as to why they felt 'unwelcome'. As we pride ourselves on our welcoming and open house attitudes I found this particularly upsetting and indeed confusing. I know that the reviewer's husband was unfortunately suffering from a heavy cold, so maybe that had an influence on their stay with us. The next day they said that they had decided that they would prefer to stay in nearby St Davids and we suggested asking at the Tourist Information Office there and gave directions on how to find it - as they had the whole of the following day to find accommodation I thought they would be alright. Unfortunately, you can't always please all the people all the time, but we continue to do our best. In this case we can only apologise for having fallen short. Please see the latest review received today :)

Light airy room with great views (Skomer room) Comfy bed and spotless shower room. A wonderful base to discover the Pembrokeshire Coast with the best breakfast we have had in a long time - very well cooked. The only drawback is it is about 10-15 mins to walk into Solva for dinner if you don't want to drive- but we are fit and had a great time. Thanks.

Glad that you enjoyed our spacious 'Ramsey View' room and rest of your stay with us. Just to clarify the point made about our location within the village. The nearest pub serving food is about 600 yards down the hill and the local shop and village shop about the same distance. If you want a wider selection of places to eat, the lower part of the village is about a 10-15 minute walk. Hope that is helpful.

We spent 3 nights at Pen Y Banc recently and were very pleased with the experience. A very friendly welcome, spacious room (Ramsey) with amazing views of the bay and Ramsey Island. Very clean and cosy with good facilities. An excellent cooked breakfast was enjoyed on all 3 days with plenty of choice and taken in the dual aspect dining room with fantastic views. Penny and Mike were, as someone else has said, 'very helpful whilst not intrusive'. We are only too pleased to recomend this B&B and will certainly be staying there again.
