Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were there for a wedding. It was amazing. The rooms in the castle are beautiful and luxurious. We were part of a group of 50 family and friends and stayed as a family in one of the cottages. Great accommodation with plenty of bedrooms, livingroom, kitchen and bathrooms. Beautiful views. Would highly reccomend.

Great location and staff were extra helpful. Loved the access to lough and kayaks/paddleboards and being able to go straight into the water from the cottage. Good recommendations for local restaurants. The cottage itself (Bridge Cottage) was a little tired - nice space however the furniture/decoration is pretty plain. The sofa in the lounge is from a conservatory so pretty uncomfortable. The kitchen had what we needed however the appliances were all basic level. This was a pretty expensive booking so would have expected more. Overall really enjoyed the break. I think the estate is possibly up for sale which would explain limited investment in furniture/equipment.

Terrible. We arrived to celebrate a 60th with 15 family members to find that despite requesting houses together we had been placed as far apart as possible - one in courtyard one at the entrance near the bridge around a km away and the other off the island across the bridge. The distance was unworkable with a disabled party and 7 small children including two babies. The roads were too dangerous to walk between the houses and with no lights at night it was pitch black. The manager was extremely unhelpful and made it clear they would do nothing as we had booked through booking.com and not directly with them. We were told to book taxis between houses. There was a broken shower in one house and no highchairs provided despite being pre requested. Calls to the number provided went unanswered for hours before finally being given long after the children had gone to bed. Really disappointed overall. We paid over £1000 for this weekend and would not recommend or return.

Response from Belle Isle, Other at Belle Isle Castle and Cottages
Responded 19 Apr 2023
Dear Brendan, Further to your review we wish to make a number of points regarding your booking to give an accurate account of your reservation. Your booking was made by yourself directly with booking.com and not directly with Belle Isle. At no stage did you contact Belle Isle regarding your booking, nor did you request that you wanted your accommodation together. Had we known in advance we could have arranged this. We note your reservation was made with booking.com on the 27/2/2023 for the 24th March. The accommodation you booked with booking.com was the accommodation you selected online with descriptions included. We received confirmation of your bookings from booking.com and duly provided the accommodation you selected. We explained this to you upon check in when you first made us aware that you wanted all accommodation together. We apologised for the oversight regarding the highchairs and cots but rectified this early on the evening on your arrival. We were unaware of any issue regarding a shower until check out and had we known we could have easily sorted this maintenance issue upon request. Unfortunately all our other accommodation was occupied by another group, hence the availability of the accommodation you booked on booking.com, that had arrived two days previously so we were unfortunately unable to offer alternative accommodation to facilitate your group. We feel disappointed that had we known of your family celebration in advance we could have provided what you wanted rather than receiving a poor review for something that we were completely unaware of and had received no communication on. Kind regards, John O’ Neill General Manager

We stayed in Coach House number One for 3 nights. Having stayed in self catering in many countries we were very impressed with everything. This has a large sitting, dining and kitchen area downstairs with everything you would possibly need provided. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms, both with large ensuites, there is also a downstairs toilet and a picnic table outside. The whole house is furnished and decorated in a style according to the age of the building. Having stayed in many self catering places this rated as one of the best and we will definitely be back. It is beside an amazing castle and lovely walks in a quiet area with beautiful scenery. You need a car to get here and bring your own food as you will not want to leave once you arrive. Enniskillen is only 20 minutes away where there are a lot of things to see and do, so you can have the peace and quiet of Belle Isle as well as the shopping and sights of the city. The staff were very helpful and we loved the 2 donkeys. The WiFi signal was very good.

We stayed for two nights in the Walled Garden Cottage. It was well appointed and had everything we could have needed. The location of Belle Isle Castle means it’s very quiet and peaceful. There was ample phone reception and the WiFi worked perfectly. Our only complaint was that the light in the garden didn’t work meaning the garden was pitch black which wasn’t great for our dog’s night time toilet breaks. Apart from that the cottage was comfortable, warm and cosy. The walks around castle grounds were lovely, albeit muddy and the donkeys were very friendly! Would definitely go back!

Superb visit staying in Bridge house. We were last here around 10 yrs back and it hasn’t changed. They’ve a completely laid back approach which is fantastic. Nothing was an issue and we got to check out an hr later as nobody else was booked after us. It was amazing value with dogs allowed and a bottle of wine on arrival. I’m going to book again for January or sooner. The peace and quiet was something else and it felt that we had the run of the island. Everyone we met was welcoming.

We rented the castle at Belle Isle for a 4 night private event with 30 guests. I can't say enough about the venue. The location and grounds are stunning. The venue's dinner caterer -- Horseshoes & Saddlers -- is top notch. The dinners were unbelievable delicious and the service fantastic. They easily dealt with any allergies/restrictions any of the guests had (gluten, vegan). Especially great was our coordinator, Emma. She did a wonderful job helping with the planning and with ensuring everything went well during the event. A great place! Highly recommended!!

Our family of nine(including) dog stayed for the weekend. The 4 bed cottage was really lovely in terms of comfort and decor. It was very spacious. The wood burning stove took a while to get going but it really did add to the ambience. The cottage was extremely well heated! A well equipped kitchen and lots of towels. Quiet and peaceful surroundings. Staff very helpful . A very enjoyable relaxing weekend. The boys( 5 and 9) really enjoyed the experience and were particularly pleased to meet the resident black cat!! One suggestion would be to add a second shower . While there is a spacious main bathroom the only shower is ensuite to one of the bedrooms. All in all we had a great weekend in a lovely cottage located n beautiful surroundings.
