We took refuge here on a very rainy day while exploring the Glens of Angus and it was the perfect place to warm up, grab some food and recover from the bad weather. The food is your typical pub food but it is well cooked and tasty. And the staff was quite friendly and gave us good tips for exploring the area.
Decided to treat myself to a spot of lunch. All fresh and tasty and the sweet potato soup with in house made bread was delicious. Home baking was excellent too. Service was spot on too. Will definitely be back
Just spent the weekend in Glen Clova and couldn't fault it.. Perfect from the minute we walked in - Food, staff, rooms and scenery!! Already planning to go back at the beginning of next year!! Amazing hotel.
First time back here for years and what a transformation! It's a great setting in a wonderful part of Scotland and the place has been renovated and restored into a lovely bar and restaurant. We had burgers - but made with local venison and partridge and they were delicious. We'll be back again as soon as we can.
Turned up at lunchtime after a walk up the glen only to be told very tersely that no food was available in the Climbers Bar as the restaurant was fully booked. Ordered some coffees to drink in outside area, these arrived but server was again very snippy when we asked for sugar and something to stir with. Friends who were about an hour behind us and arrived after we left were treated in a similar manner. Perhaps the hotel staff need to remember that walkers and climbers have played an important part in the history of the hotel and should not be treated as second class citizens. We will certainly think twice about going back.
