We very much enjoyed our holiday in this wonderful cottage. We stayed in Apartment Shiel, which is very well and tastefully equipped, spacious and light-flooded with a great view from the terrace. There is lots to see and to do - next time we would like to stay longer. Thanks for a great stay!

This is our 6th year at Garmoran Square. We return time and again because of the location and the quality and cleanliness of the accommodation. Every time we visit, the accommodation is spotless and I know Susan does a deep clean and refreshes some of the furnishings and equipment every year. The cottages have everything you need and Susan is very welcoming and friendly. It’s such a great holiday destination and well worth our ten hour drive every May. Can’t recommend this place enough although don’t really want to in case too many people start going. A wonderful, relaxing, Scottish holiday again with a great host and plenty of beautiful walks around. Thanks again Susan! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🐶 We never want to leave xx

This was our second visit to Garmoran Square: two years ago we stayed in Shiel with out daughter, this year our son came too so we chose Somerled. Both lets were extremely comfortable and well equipped and this is easily one of our favourite places to stay. Kenneth and Susan are wonderfully helpful, providing the excellent welcome pack (including fruitcake which kept us going on many excursions). We love the location too: as cyclists, the countryside and roads are great for travelling round by bike and, despite the occasional hill, very enjoyable. Castle Tioram, Ardtoe and the Silver Sands are all worth more than one visit and good to cycle to but we still haven't made it to the Singing Sands and Sanna - something left for next time. Tobermory remains a delight (whisky distillery, Mull Cheese Farm, Tobermory Chocolate, An Tobar - all great). Sunart cycle hire in Strontian were really helpful, delivering and collecting the one bike we couldn't carry on the car.

Somerled is very large and would definitely suit six people; for four of us, there was perhaps too much room! We spent most of our time when at Somerled in the kitchen (the extraordinarily rampant midges kept us from the decking) but the weather was excellent and allowed us plenty of opportunities to explore the area. If it does rain, the house is warm and there are games galore. We will definitely go again and I strongly recommend it. The only thing I would change was our bed but the (grown up) children assured us theirs were extremely comfortable and we are notoriously fussy!

Many thanks for your lovely review, I am so very pleased you found your second stay still as great as the first, we do work hard to ensure our standards are maintained, but it is always helpful to know that we are getting it right, or indeed not right, so we can rectify that. We hope to welcome you again to Garmoran Square in the future and we can discuss the beds to find out what changes you would like to see. Thanks and Best regards Susan MacDonald

This is the second time we have stayed at Garmoran square as part of a large group of friends.....and we are looking forward to the third. The accomodation is five star with luxury toiletries, bath robes and beautiful bed linen . The interiors are light, comemporary and luxurious. Each cottage has amazing views from an enormous picture window in each living room. The owners, Susan and Kenneth have thought of everything and styled this place beautifully. Local produce is wonderful - best langoustines I have EVER tasted!! The surrounding area is beautiful with loads of great walks and stunning views. Susan and Kenneth - thanks for caring and thanks for sharing !

Late is not a problem, we are just happy to get the great review - thank you. As always it is really appreciated when people notice the level of details we have tried to get right with regards the style of the accommodation and also the equipment we have put in to them to ensure that guests have a great holiday. Will also mention to the fishermen that they are managing to catch the best langoustines - I think a lot of it could be the short time from sea to table as they are still live when they arrive with you to cook. Many thanks and Regards Susan MacDonald

You could not ask for better accommodation for a family holiday. The cottages were all beautifully equipped with everything you could want for your stay. We were a party of 12 and the owner very kindly set up a dining situation for us so that we could all eat together. For those wanting to eat our there were choices in the village and within 20 minutes most of them dog friendly. Plenty options for the kids with all the books and games in the cottages. Lovely views from the accommodation great setting for a family barbeque and of course the Ardnamurchan area is stunningly beautiful.

We left it really late for booking somewhere on the West of Scotland and came across Garmoran Square quite by accident.

The only "apartment" available was "Somerled" (which actually sleeps 6) but as there was only myself and my husband to cater for I asked if there was a 2 person discount, which Susan kindly obliged with.

First off I would like to say the owners couldn't have been more helpful. All my queries regarding the property were answered swiftly and Susan provided lots of information relating to the area etc.

Susan greeted us on arrival for our 8 night holiday and showed us around Somerled. We couldn't have been happier with the property. Beautifully decorated, stunning views, a huge kitchen, a spa bath (which only got used once due to the scorching hot weather we had) a wood burning stove in the living room (which again was only used once) and an open fire in the kitchen (which was never lit due to the heat in the property). Waiting for us was a home made banana and walnut cake, a freshly baked loaf of bread, jam, milk and ground coffee. Flowers were placed on the dining table. The "double" bed I'm sure could sleep around 6, it was so big!!

There are some beautiful walks in the area, one of our favourites being to Tioram Castle, around 8 miles round trip (but you can drive there if you don't want to walk) We spotted the Eagle on our first walk around there. A Stag and Deers appeared in the field next to the property almost every day. If you need any advice just ask Susan, she can recommend lots of lovely walks right from the doorstep.

Garmoran Square is ideally situated to visit various areas of Ardnamurchan. We would recommend the smokehouse at Glenelg, a lovely drive (only about 20 minutes away) the hot smoked salmon is delicious. We also ordered hand dived scallops and langoustines with Susan, and these were delivered to our property, again delicious.

We had a trip to Arisaig and Mallaig, saw the steam train, and also a day trip to Tobermory, as foot passengers. Be warned, it's only around 18 miles of twisty single track road to Kilchoan, but this takes at least an hour!! The newest distillery "Ardnamurchan" is also down this road at Glenbeg (but don't expect to be able to sample the malts, they're not ready yet!!) The Wild Life hide at Garbh Eilean is great for spotting seals, for those with limited mobility I would not recommend the paths here, as they are extremely steep.

For supplies the nearest shop is at Archaracle, 5 minutes drive, very well stocked. There is also a great little shop at Salen pier/jetty which serves great coffee's and again is well stocked. There are some lovely views here too.

This is a beautiful area of Scotland with plenty to see and do. Of course we had fantastic weather while we were there 4th - 12th June and managed to eat al-fresco every day. My only complaint is I didn't want to leave and hope to stay there again sometime in the future.
