We very much enjoyed our holiday in this wonderful cottage. We stayed in Apartment Shiel, which is very well and tastefully equipped, spacious and light-flooded with a great view from the terrace. There is lots to see and to do - next time we would like to stay longer. Thanks for a great stay!

We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids - 14, 12 & 8) from the US who stayed at Garmoran Square for three nights in the middle of April 2023. These three nights were on the back end of our vacation but our stay here proved to be the highlight of our trip for many reasons. Host: From initial booking through check-out, Susan was a pleasure to deal with. Extremely responsive, welcoming and transparent - she truly is vested in ensuring her guests have a wonderful stay but also offers a genuine curiosity in your travel to be able to offer right-fit recommendations. Be sure to make a point to check in with her upon arrival! Location: This was our first family trip internationally. The location centered us in the middle of what our expectations of the Highlands of Scotland were about. It is rugged, rural with single track roads, farms and tiny villages and we found it perfect for day trips to Mull and Arisaig/Mallaig. Skye, Oban, Fort William/Glencoe are also within reach. Lodging: The gated property is nestled among a cluster of residences and guest houses/restaurants. The building is positioned for privacy and views out the back across a bog and Loch Shiel to Ben Resipol. Private decks allow guests to enjoy the solitude and scenery. While the exterior was designed to be very traditional, the interior of Tioram was modern and classy with floor to ceiling windows, wood burner, modern kitchen, wide plank flooring, etc. Unit was equipped with everything one could need including local guide books, binoculars, silverware, televisions, local soap/shampoo. Lastly, the place was immaculately clean with no signs of wear and tear. Last miscellaneous thoughts: 1. Make reservations at Mingarry Park - we had an excellent dinner there and it's walking distance. 2. Visit Castle Tioram - it was one of our favorite castles because of how authentic, isolated and non-touristy it was. 3. Say hello to Orin - he filled in for our pup at home who we missed quite well! Thanks Susan and family!

The four cottages were pefectly prepared for our stay as 14 people with a table set for all for all of us, fires laid, bread milk and cake. The lounges are big and comfy and members of our group slept comfotably in them giving everyone a private space. Fittings and kitchen and dining stuff are good quality and nothing is missing. Great views to the back, good location for walks and exploring the peninisula

Exceptional quality and attention to detail made for an extremely comfortable and relaxing stay. Garmoran Square is one of the best equipped self-catering establishements we have ever stayed in and one that we would certainly hope to return to. We spent 4 nights in the 2-bedroomed Shiel. Immaculately clean, light flooded in to spaciuous living area through a glass 'wall' looking out across a raised patio area to the hills beyond. The modern kitchen area was superbly equipped, with teas and coffees supplied and a tasty welcome pack awaiting our arrival. Warmed throughout by effiient underfloor heating, the dual fuel burner provided a relaxing focal point for the darkeing evenings. An excellent place from which to explore the beauty and history of Ardnamuchan and Moidart by car, bike or on foot, or simply to switch off and relax!

We love Garmoran. Its like the Highlands in miniature - a four-hour drive including Glen Coe, the shortest ferry crossing anywhere and a challenging few miles on single track road all make it feel more remote than it actually is. It's just over the River Shiel from Ardnamurchan in Moidart which means Loch Shiel itself, Loch Sunart, Glenfinnan, Arisaig, Mallaig (Skye ferry) and, in spring and summer, Tobermory via the Mull ferry are all within range. Plus the Glenfinnan Viaduct and the forbidding Castle Tioram ruin. The contrast between the wild landscape and the comfort of the properties is striking, especially the view to Beinn Resipol through ceiling to floor windows. The deer graze yards away. Do they know there's a venison butcher next door? We were in Somerled (named after a C12th warlord from nearby Morvern) which is a converted barn building still with roof spar for block and tackle and upstairs doors for taking in grain sacks. There's a large sitting room with wood burning stove, three en-suite bedrooms (bathrobes), a fourth loo and farmhouse dining kitchen with open fire. Help yourself from the wood store. The central heating is underfloor. The building has decking on two sides and barbecue. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bedding is hotel quality. Best of all, it is relaxed and easy going. Susan is the friendly host who sets the tone but never interferes. You can order local produce and have it cooked for you. If like us, you enjoy exploring wild seashore or beech woods and ending the day in log fire comfort with wine, this could be place for you as well.

You could not ask for better accommodation for a family holiday. The cottages were all beautifully equipped with everything you could want for your stay. We were a party of 12 and the owner very kindly set up a dining situation for us so that we could all eat together. For those wanting to eat our there were choices in the village and within 20 minutes most of them dog friendly. Plenty options for the kids with all the books and games in the cottages. Lovely views from the accommodation great setting for a family barbeque and of course the Ardnamurchan area is stunningly beautiful.

Just back from a 4 day break during very poor, cold and snowy weather. There was a small problem with the heating , but was quickly dealt with by Susan. The commitment to her properties shown by Susan is abundantly clear in every aspect of these outstanding properties. Sorry we didn't get a chance to say goodbye , but wanted to get a start as the weather was turning quite nasty. Lovely property in a stunning part of Scotland. Try food at Jill Gosneys if looking for a night out.

What a brilliant week! I last stayed here nine years ago and I am asking myself why I waited so long to come back to this awesome part of the world. I was lucky enough to be invited to celebrate the 50th Birthday of a very special lady along with a wonderful group of friends. Thanks to the amazing hospitality of Susan and Kenneth, I enjoyed one of the best New Year Parties of my life. Not only did we have homegrown pork and crackling, locally caught smoked salmon and the most spectacular Scottish langoustines but we’re also treated to a magnificent fireworks display right outside the lodge and a very skilled piper playing in the New Year!! The rest of our stay was superb with great walks amongst unbeatable scenery. We stayed in Somerled which is kitted out to an unbelievably high standard. I would recommend Garmoran without reservation and I shall be back at the first opportunity.

It was a real honour to be part of the festivities and so pleased that everyone enjoyed Hogmanay with us. We look forward to seeing you again and just hope there is not a nine year gap next time. Thank you so much Kenneth and Susan

Just spent a week celebrating Hogmanay with friends at Garmoran Square. What a lovely place! We took over all the cottages and I would be hard pushed to say which one is nicer. All have lovely, large living rooms with fire places and stunning views. All have extremely well equipped kitchens; anyone serious about doing their own catering could not ask for more. Bedrooms all have ensuite bathrooms and really comfortable beds. The hosts could not have been more accommodating or done more for us. The area is stunning, we did lots of amazing walks. I can't wait to come back at another time of the year and experience Garmoran in a different season.
