On seating we were advised that the fryers were not working which limited the menu significantly. Asking if,under the circumstances, the chef could provide an all day breakfast we were told absolutely not - not the welcoming and friendly reception we expected! We were then told the Ham was also not available after ordering drinks - we decided to persevere...

We received a warm welcome & were seated promptly. The decor is very tasteful & there is a lovely ambience. The menu was extensive, prices were reasonable & we thoroughly enjoyed our choices of steak pie & scampi. Service was prompt & all the staff were very professional & friendly. Excellent for meetings (& functions), ample parking, good access, lovely rooms and really nice staff. My room was excellent, very comfy bed, blackout blinds and a good sized bathroom. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice, cooked breakfast made to order. Well worth a visit.

Carfraemill Lodge is a privately run hotel and shows it. Apart from the friendly staff, the warm welcome, the excellent menu and good quality food and the comfortable bedrooms with their individual homely touches, the whole operation speaks of the care and concern of people who clearly regard it as more than just a business. This is unique in the...

A warm, comfortable hotel with friendly staff, excellent food and a good selection of wines and beers, Rooms were well equipped although ours proved a little small. The ensuite shower room was quite sufficient but the water pressure in the shower itself barely adequate. Some difficulty getting wet! An ideal base from which to explore the Scottish Borders within easy...

Nice rooms, great staff and friendly atmosphere. The food is excellent with great choice. Carfraemill has a great reputation in the Scottish Borders and having stayed there for the first time it is well recommended. It is also great for family meals and weddings to which I have been for meals many times before

A lovely hotel and super room. Great food and warm welcome. We are regular visitors and always book the romantic break for dinner bed and breakfast. We'll definitely continue to stay here as often as we can on our travels from the Aberdeen area down south to visit family.

We took a small double at £110 as there were no deluxe doubles at £120 left. What a difference - I saw the deluxe room and it looked lovely and comfortable and worth the money compared to our little back room at only £10 less. The smaller room was overpriced but the bigger room looked worth the money and if...

Stayed here many times and will stay many more, a great central location. Comfortable rooms and good food. A bonus of a bath and a shower in my room. A good choice of things to choose from at breakfast too

My friend Brian and I breakfast almost every Saturday in life and have done so for the last 7 years. We have been to many establishments until we found The Lodge at Carfraemill 3 years ago, we have never been anywhere else since. It is comfortable, warm, welcoming and the food is great. The owner Jo and manager Susan are...
