It must have had good times but now the place is not sure what it is. It is a fab location but it needs work and a overall. We were treated to a visit to the rear to lock up our bikes - lots of bin bags and boxes strewn among the weeds. We also ate there - Mamma's Grill??... More

Decent enough hotel, but needs some money spent on decoration and updating. Nice breakfast , basic but ok restaurant. . Could be a lot better but for the area it's good. Also should have left the ivy up. It looked nicer

Arrived at hotel at 9pm on Friday 9 September for 2 nights B&B. No customers in the bar (on a Friday night?) and we were met by the only member of staff we saw the whole time we were there. He didn't introduce himself so we still don't know if he was the owner, the manager or just the barman.... More

The Lochinvar Hotel is a sort of white elephant. Awhile back, it looked as if it was bursting into life, with a prominent frontage onto the main road, and a large car park at its side, leading to a further entrance going into a nice enough bar, with basic food served and also catering for a take-away service. But now... More

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Not quite sure what you are reviewing! Did you come in? We have been open everyday for the last month, we choose not to open during the day and concentrate on our evening trade, hence you would see door shut from time to time. Thanks for your concern, doing very well... More

My family and myself spent two New Years in this hotel in the early 80s and have wonderful memories from that time. The accommodation, food and hosts of the time were superb so it was with some trepidation that we found ourselves back in the area. We needn't have worried....the food was well presented and tasty, staff were very diligent and the place... More

Had a great meal last night. The kids menu was fantastic value, great size portion for the 'older child'. The chicken skewers were served with sweet potato crisps (unusual but lovely touch) and a delicious salad. I have to say the food is great and very reasonably priced. Due to the early bird offer we fed a family of four... More

During a holiday to Dumfries and Galloway, we stopped off here for an early evening meal. We were directed to the bar - The Stag's Head. Our drinks were brought more or less immediately and our food order arrived soon afterwards. My youngest daughter (aged 7) ordered a pizza and chips, my eldest ordered macaroni cheese and I ordered cumberland... More
