We stayed a couple of nights and came back for our last night. The rooms are fairly standard, but the ground floor room we had the second time we were there was too noisy. The breakfast was good - more French than Costa Rican and with a lovely fresh fruit sallad.

Very surprised at the treatment of people in the hotel, the owners think, has many tips to tell. The hotel is very clean, comfortable and well located for visiting the city on foot.We are beginning our stay in Costa Rica and we are going back to the end without doubt !!

Our daughter had booked our first night in Costa Rica in this boutique hotel, located in a quiet 'cup de sac' at a 20 minutes' walk from the center of San Jose. We decided to keep coming back in between and after our trips through the country. Why? Because it is 'sympa'. Excellent rooms (once you find out how the... More

Voltaire is located a slight hike from downtown San Jose, in a quiet area that's pretty dark by night. It's on a dead end street with no real signage to guide you, which caused some issues finding it when my partner and I arrived by taxi around 8 p.m. We were welcomed by Oscar who seemed slightly surprised to see... My wife and I just spent two nights at this warm and interesting hotel, nestled in San Jose's embassy district. Owners Franco and Eric are very hospitable and attentive to guests. The rooms are small, but comfortable and the dining area includes a cloistered patio. Breakfast is included with the room and includes very tasty yogurt, fresh fruits, freshly baked... More

First time to Costa Rica. We were welcomed by Le Voltaire and bid farewell by the same. They say, "if you go to Costa Rica, you must spend at least one day in San Jose." We took that advice and Franco and Eric, Le Voltaire proprietors, made our stay in the city all that much more pleasant. They are two... More

I spent 9 months in this hotel and I wouldn’t change this hotel for any other place in San Jose. It is located in a safe and quiet neighborhood just 10-15 min walking distance from the city center. The neighborhood is called la California and you can find everything you need there (restaurants, bars, shopping mall). As far as the... More

As a solo traveler, I felt quite safe and taken care of at this hotel. The room was clean and simple with a great shower! The owner was very helpful and provided a fabulous breakfast. The price was reasonable and location was good as well. Thank you Eric for also welcoming my daughter for breakfast!

Eric the owner is a perfect host. We stayed at Le Voltaire during our first 2 days on Costa Rica. The taxi driver had a hard time finding the place despite our assistance using google maps. The hotel is located in a cul de sac just of the main road. Rooms arr spacious anf spotlessly clean. It is a 15... More
