West Lodge Park Hotel is a beautiful country house hotel set in 35 acres of grounds on the edge of North London. It has been owned and run by three generations of the Beale family since 1945 and now has 59 bedrooms, the Mary Beale Restaurant and Terrace Bar, 8 stunning banqueting rooms, and plentiful free parking. The hotel is located just a mile from Cockfosters Tube station where there is a large car park and frequent trains on the Piccadilly Line to all the sights of central London. Around the hotel is the magnificent Beale Arboretum, with over 800 species of trees from around the world, 2 national collections of hornbeams and swamp cypresses, and plentiful hard paths and interpretive signage. The hotel is also home to the Edward Beale collection of Old master paintings, most of which have been painted by the ancestor of the family, Mary Beale, who was Britain's first professional woman artist, painting at the time of Charles II. It would be a pleasure to welcome you to this beautiful hotel. Andrew BealeManaging DirectorBeales Hotels

I’ve been coming here to dine with my family for many years and it would have given me great pleasure to give a 5 star review here but sadly I cannot. We got off to a bad start as the bar took 3 attempts at getting our drinks right and, instead of doing their best to correct

I have been here a few times now to eat only, not used the Hotel and find that the food is really not all that great. The prices are exorbitant for what you get. The service is not that great either. Better to book a table in the restaurant as it's pretty busy or you can also

Thank you for your review of West Lodge Park, I am glad you enjoyed the gardens and the historical nature of this grand house, but am sorry that you haven't enjoyed the food or service. We have so many lovely comments about the food, as well as an award from the AA, while the service is also highly rated on this site and many others, but I am sorry if it hasn't been up to scratch on your visits. And I would dispute the "exorbitant prices" description, with bar snacks from £3.50, bar drinks from £3.50 with a selection of free nibbles from 6pm, restaurant lunches and dinners from £23 with free unlimited bread (four different breads) and unsalted butter, and free unlimited parking for all guests. This makes our prices very competitive and in line with neighbouring hotels and gastropubs. Regards, Andrew Beale Managing Director Beales Hotels

The beautiful, immaculate grounds are a wonderful feature for this characterful old property. We booked 2 classic double rooms which were located on the top floor with nice views. The rooms had low beams and door frames, and uneven flooring. The rooms were spacious and had

Thank you for your kind review of West Lodge Park. From your review I am guessing you were in bedrooms 7 and 8 at the very top of the house, both with stunning views down the Beale Arboretum, and exceptionally quiet, if a little inaccessible. I have noted the pre-authorisation errors for which our Reception Manager apologises, and we are busy with refurbishments throughout the hotel, about to start on more bedroom schemes as I write. Do come again when you can. Kind regards, Andrew Beale Managing Director Beales Hotels

This place is right on my doorstep yet I have never been until this weekend. Booked afternoon tea for two - one was gluten free but when they arrived it was so nuce to see we both had the same sandwich fillings, cakes and pastries. Lovely building in wonderful surroundings with

Thank you for your kind review of afternoon tea at West Lodge Park, I am so pleased we looked after you well and that we treated the gluten free member of your party the same as the non gluten free person - exactly as it should be. The hotel is full of history at every turn, and our challenge has always been to provide sympathetic modern amenities in an 1838 building, Do come again we are open every day of the week for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner ! Kind regards, Andrew Beale Managing Director Beales Hotels

I have been coming here for years and love the hotel and location but the bar area has taken a turn for the worse. I bought my mum here a few weeks back Saturday 23rd Feb. We sat in the bar area for 15 mins and no one came over to us so I had to get up and ask for service. When

For sure, the restaurant will bring a little "Birthday" cake if you let them know - we celebrated an 80th Birthday and had a lovely meal and birthday treat. You can also arrange a cab from the hotel to take you to Cockfosters tube station where you can get a tube directly into London and theatreland.

I have to agree with paul S - whenever someone writes something negative about this hotel, the owner, either states that your are lying, or makes excuses - I have written a couple of very positive reviews on this hotel and also one negative one, for the simple reason we had a poor experience - however he then states that what I wrote was a bit exaggerated ?? Strange, why would I exaggerate something when all I have ever done in the past is praise it - kind of put off from ever going back - shame as have stayed at this hotel 10-15 times over the last 5 years. Sometimes, just sometimes things go wrong and you have to accept it
