West Lodge Park Hotel is a beautiful country house hotel set in 35 acres of grounds on the edge of North London. It has been owned and run by three generations of the Beale family since 1945 and now has 59 bedrooms, the Mary Beale Restaurant and Terrace Bar, 8 stunning banqueting rooms, and plentiful free parking. The hotel is located just a mile from Cockfosters Tube station where there is a large car park and frequent trains on the Piccadilly Line to all the sights of central London. Around the hotel is the magnificent Beale Arboretum, with over 800 species of trees from around the world, 2 national collections of hornbeams and swamp cypresses, and plentiful hard paths and interpretive signage. The hotel is also home to the Edward Beale collection of Old master paintings, most of which have been painted by the ancestor of the family, Mary Beale, who was Britain's first professional woman artist, painting at the time of Charles II. It would be a pleasure to welcome you to this beautiful hotel. Andrew BealeManaging DirectorBeales Hotels

I love the classic, timeless atmosphere and stunning setting of this hotel. Very attentive yet discreet service. A great place to spend time relaxing over a lazy lunch. I've been here a couple of times for lunch. Delicious flavours, presented beautifully.

This is a lovely review and all the team at West Lodge Park are very grateful, thank you. I like your description of the hotel as having a classic timeless atmosphere. We celebrate 250 years this year as a family firm, so perhaps timeless is about right. And I also like the alliterative lazy lunch - a great pair of words ! Do come again, and thank you again for your kind comments. Kindest regards, Andrew Beale Managing Director Beales Hotels

I booked new years eve package which included overnight accomodation in a double room. I was given a small room with a bed frankly too small for a couple to sleep in. Consequently we did not sleep It was not possible to turn over with out my partner turning too. I took this up

Thank you for your review, you wrote to me immediately after the New Year's Eve dinner dance at West Lodge Park, with much the same comments. I wrote back to you on the 4th January thus : Dear Mr Lewis, I have received your email thank you. As I understand it, your mother booked the rooms for you and her, and the smaller double you were allocated was the only double room left in the hotel. This was made clear to your mother at the time. Your mother decided to reserve your room whilst reserving and paying for hers, Room 55 is indeed a smaller double, but it is also one of our newest rooms in the house, having been completed last year at a cost of some £15,000. You paid the appropriate price for this room, the prices on the New Year’s Eve webpage were indicative for those particular room types. I am sorry about the water pressure, which is being urgently dealt with by our Estates Manager. We offer the full flexibility of booking your preferred room on our website and offer a multitude of photos of every room plus a personalised video of every room too by myself. On this occasion the crux of the issue was that this was the last available double in the house. Kind regards, Andrew Beale Managing Director Beales Hotels I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us (although in your review above there is no mention at all about the main event, namely New Year's Eve celebration with piper, dancing, luxury menu etc.). I am not sure what else we could have done given that these were the last available rooms in the house on that particular night, and every room is detailed with bed size, video, view from the room etc on the website. We spent 3 nights at the hotel from Wednesday to Saturday, snack lunch on arrival, one evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast every morning. Though a tad expensive, the food was wonderful, cooked to perfection and very tasty. Customer service was excellent and the staff

What a brilliant review of West Lodge Park, thank you so much, I am so pleased that we looked after you in every area of the hotel, and that you enjoyed your stay with us so much. The Piccadilly Line at Cockfosters is a particularly good way of getting into town, as it goes through all the main stations from Kings Cross, through Holborn for the British Museum, Covent Garden and Leicester Sq for theatres and cinemas, Piccadilly Circus, Green Park and Knightsbridge for shopping, and South Kensington for museums. Do come again when you are next in the area, it would be a pleasure to welcome you back to this lovely hotel ! Kindest regards, Andrew Beale Managing Director Beales Hotels

Thank you so much for your very kind review of West Lodge Park and the Mary Beale Restaurant. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your visit, I am writing this reply in the dead of winter, and very cold outside, but am hopeful that before too long the ground will thaw, and the early snowdrops, crocuses and daffodils will start coming out, heralding spring in the Beale Arboretum. Do come again soon, and thank you so much for the kind words. Kindest regards, Andrew Beale Managing Director Beales Hotels

For sure, the restaurant will bring a little "Birthday" cake if you let them know - we celebrated an 80th Birthday and had a lovely meal and birthday treat. You can also arrange a cab from the hotel to take you to Cockfosters tube station where you can get a tube directly into London and theatreland.

I have to agree with paul S - whenever someone writes something negative about this hotel, the owner, either states that your are lying, or makes excuses - I have written a couple of very positive reviews on this hotel and also one negative one, for the simple reason we had a poor experience - however he then states that what I wrote was a bit exaggerated ?? Strange, why would I exaggerate something when all I have ever done in the past is praise it - kind of put off from ever going back - shame as have stayed at this hotel 10-15 times over the last 5 years. Sometimes, just sometimes things go wrong and you have to accept it
