Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So glad we found this lovely b&b. The owners were welcoming and helpful, the room (Hestan) was cosy and very comfortable. Lots of nice additional touches and a super breakfast, including cooked veggie options. Great location to walk along to Kippford which is well worth doing. Would not hesitate to recommend this b&b and would return if in the area again.

An excellent place to base yourself in this tranquil and picturesque part of Dumfries & Galloway. The accommodation is excellent, whilst Linda and David are the perfect hosts in all respects, helpful and friendly; nothing is too much trouble. Great breakfasts that will set you up for a day of walking and touring. Don't miss the stunning coastal path. There are plenty of places to visit, local golf courses, gardens and great restaurants and pubs a short drive away.

We stayed here last weekend for 3 nights with our dog the room was great very clean, warm and cosy. The bed was very comfortable and other amenities were excellent. Our hosts David & Linda did everything to make our stay, just like home. The area is great for walking and seeing the wildlife. While having breakfast you can watch the red squirrells feeding and best of all the breakfast was the best we have ever had,FIRST CLASS.

We stayed in the lovely dog friendly studio. Everything you could possibly need is there, for you and your dog. There is a wee area with table and chairs to sit out.... Very little light pollution... Lovely starry skies so don't forget to look up.

We had a lovely four night stay in Balcary at Millbrae House recently. We had everything we needed: comfortable beds; fresh milk instead of long life cartons in the fridge (also handy to store cheese from Loch Arthur to take home); lovely varied breakfasts; a conservatory to sit in while watching red squirrels on the feeders; and the nicest most helpful hosts. Thank you Linda and David. We would love to visit again.

On this occasion we stayed at the two bedroomed Craig Roan. The property is spacious and the beds are so comfortable. David and Linda who run this excellent business are just wonderful. The property is immaculate and there is such a warm welcome - from a vase of flowers to a set tea tray with biscuits and chocolate. The accommodation is very comfortable and there is a bright conservatory to sit in as well as a garden area to relax in. Everything you could need is there - towels, tea towels, a dishwasher, lots of crockery and a easy to use corkscrew! We cannot recommend this lovely place enough. And there are so many great walks and plenty of places to visit nearby.

We have just returned from a 4 night break in Drumburn Studio, with our black lab. Linda greeted us on arrival with a very warm welcome and offer of assistance with our bags. There was a lovely welcome tray with teas, coffee, fudge, and a cute bottle of milk in the fridge. The dog wasn't forgotten either, he had a tennis ball and doggie biscuits laid out on the tray also. The studio is situated in a beautiful location with so many walks from the door, being surrounded by National Trust Scotland woods and coastal path. Whilst there are no eateries in Rockcliffe the studio provides all you need to cook when retuning from a day out. It is beautifully furnished, and has fabulously soft bed linens. A new wood burner has been installed, we didn't use it as we were warm enough but it would be very cosy in the colder months. We would like to Thank Linda and David for their hospitality and will return again in the future. x

Linda and David are excellent hosts who went out of their way to make our stay was the best it could be. The breakfast is a wonderful selection of locally sourced produce and baking. David is an excellent cook and even cooked up some really delicious sausages for our lunch. Linda researched open gardens near by and tried to find traditional music venues for us in the short time we were there.

We had a wonderful two night stay at David and Linda's lovely Bed and Breakfast. Our room (Hestan) was large and well-appointed. Incredible and delicious full breakfast for me and good choice of lighter fare for my wife. Our hosts provided access to guides and books for exploring the gardens and sites in the Dumfries and Galloway area, and sound advice regarding local restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to our next occasion to stay with them and further explore this beautiful area.
