Two night stay. Hotel is in beautiful location on Solway Firth. Food excellent, extensive wine list, service in dining room was very efficient but unobtrusive. All staff in hotel were friendly and helpful. Bedroom very comfortable with lovely view of bay. Would definitely return.

I’ve just had my second stay at Balcary Bay Hotel, the first was in June, & it won’t be too long I hope before I return. The location is perfect, the staff excellent, & the food is mouth-watering. If you long for peace & quiet away from it all, this is the place for you.

We had an excellent dinner, bed & breakfast stay to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary in a room with an amazing view across the bay. The food was faultless too. If only the hotel had some spa-like facilities it would have been perfect. Even something simple like a sauna and jacuzzi on site, not necessarily a full gym and pool.

This makes no pretensions to be a modern, glitzy fashionable hotel and is all the better for it. Public areas are almost old style club with ample seating for those of ample girth. Food of a uniformly high standard with plenty of interesting alternatives. Would we go back? You bet!

We stayed for two nights and had guests dine with us on the Saturday evening. This is a traditional country house hotel which has been tastefully and elegantly refurbished with stylish lounges and lovely bedrooms. The staff were professional and friendly and a nice touch of a welcome pack for our dog. All the food was to a very high...

This should have been a great stay due to the nice room, food and location. Downstairs was a little old fashioned and full of well- heeled older guests. But the main thing that ruined the stay was the attitude of the staff, the manager(?) in particular. Can't believe the way he treated us, we actually went to our room and...

We had a long drive along the bay before getting to the hotel which was quite busy. The four of us had only two courses. Whilst the food was quite acceptable and the service friendly we all felt that the dinner was over priced and not value for money . we would not return

We have had many short breaks at Balcary Bay and have never been disappointed, extremely comfortable rooms, excellent food and just what we look for in the way of relaxation. Every room we have seen has been tastefully decorated and we love our stays there, so does our dog who is made most welcome with a welcome pack!! He did...

The hotel website uses the adjectives 'Romantic, secluded, tranquil and welcoming' as it's strap line but this is very misleading and does not reflect the hotel at all. We were incredibly disappointed with our experience. My wife and I had booked a room for the last 2 nights of our honeymoon and wished we hadn't. It most certainly is not...
