Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here for one night on a golf trip with my father. Room was spacious and had all you needed for a night, bed was comfy too, a little noisy later on in the night as there must of been a karaoke singer on downstairs (we went to bed early and it was a weekend so may not happen during the week) but could be heard upstairs as could other drinkers outside the main entrance to the pub. That was the only issue we had but managed to get over again and enjoyed our stay. The food was tremendous and plenty to fill you at reasonable prices, again the breakfast was spot on and could not be faulted. Would stay again if in the area.

We went there for 2 nights on a 5pm deal and from the moment we arrived it was amazing. Room was huge, overlooking village green, staff were brilliant, so friendly yet still very professional. Even our dog got best attention! Looks quite fed up now he's back home with just us. Food was to die for!! Thank you chef Yaric! Surrounding area was beautiful, lots of walks, places to see. Will definitely be back. Thank you again. Mary and Pete

My mum and I went for lunch at the Castle Inn and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived the service could not have been better, friendly and professional and the atmosphere was amazing. The country pub was busy and had a friendly, warm atmosphere and the staff could not of been more helpful, often you get pressured to eat and drink quickly so the tables can be turned around, this was NOT the case here and it was a lovely relaxing lunch and the food was to die for and the options for small and large portions was brilliant as due to a health condition we were not pressured into massive portions. A special mention to all the serving staff and the owner who was a on hands owner which you do not often see and safe to say we we 100% will be back and the specials we had and the triple cooked chips were amazing! Well done to the chef and his team also for brilliant piping hot dishes!

Booked for a 4 night stay whilst visiting friend in Gullane. It was a good choice - nice location, all staff very helpful and excellent food. Breakfasts were super and the two evening meals we had could not be faulted. The meals we had elsewhere did not match the Castle Inn for quality and standard of service in the restaurant.
Would visit again !

We are on holiday in dirleton so the Castle Inn is our local. This is the second time we have been this week sbd the second time we haven’t been disappointed! We had three dogs in tow and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating…. They were fabulous! We had lunch here on Monday and an evening meal tonight. The food was amazing! Fresh and fabulous and full of flavour on both occasions. I can thoroughly recommend the grilled prawns with garlic snd chilli to start and the Cullen skink on the specials board was to die for . As was the plum crumble. I have no negatives to offer. Cannot recommend more highly.

My husband and I went for a lovely meal at Castle Inn tonight. It definitely did not disappoint, my husband had the Panko Chicken which he said was delicious. I opted for one of the specials Venison with red wine jus. The venison was one of the best I've had.

The staff were excellent as was the whole ambience.

Just back from a lovely few hours spent at the Castle Inn.Everything was really good.Service excellent as was food and service. However ,if you want people to keep coming back you really need to extend your main menu. Five choices of main course plus what is on your blackboard is very disappointing. We were there with friends and we really want to return again and again but you can only eat the same thing a limited amount of times! Please please consider this

My partner and I have visited the Castle inn for lunch around 5-6 times now - I simply cannot recommend this place enough for great service, a cosy atmosphere, and most importantly a good feed!

We travel to NB sometimes for a weekends trip and always make sure to stop over at the Castle Inn on the way back to Edinburgh. I used to work in a similar place near South Queensferry for years and it always rolls back the years for me in terms of good memories!

During our last visit, we brought some friends and have been on a mission recommending others to visit too. Make sure to give the Castle Inn a wee visit next time you're in the area!

This was our first pub trip since lockdown and we had a wonderful visit. Family of 4 with 2 young kids. Wonderful warm welcome from staff at the front door, full Covid 19 precautions in place. Alcohol gel dotted around everywhere and the toilets and all areas were scrupulously clean.

We had drinks and ordered the best chunky chips and ice cream for the kids. Everything was of a very high standard. It is clear the staff are working flat out to provide a safe, enjoyable experience for all. I take my hat off to you all and really hope your business survives these difficult times.

Thank you for making our first post lockdown visit so safe and enjoyable.

Stopped off on the way to North Berwick for a bit of lunch and was so glad we did. Friendly and fairly speedy service and superb food which I think is fairly priced for the portion size and quality . I had the Cullen Skink which was rich and creamy and perfect with the unseasonably chilly weather . Wife had the haddock which was huge and fresh and as good as any fish and chips she had eaten anywhere . Part of the bar area is dog friendly too . All in all a very nice experience
