Award-winning St Monans Holiday Park is set in a prime coastal location, quietly nestled between the East Neuk villages of Elie and Pittenweem. Overlooking the Fife Coastal Path our Signature Plus and Castaway Vista holiday homes boast stunning sea views and are the perfect escape for a rejuvenating break. There is also a small touring and tent field located at the entrance to the holiday park. The beautiful Isle of May National Nature Reserve is a dominant feature on the horizon and is teeming with wildlife. This must-see island is a spectacular boat trip away from the bustling seaside town of neighbouring Anstruther. St Monans has welcomed the rich and famous and is home to an impressive kirk which provided the backdrop to the filming of The Railway Man starring Academy award-winners Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman. It's well worth a visit as is St Monans windmill which was used to pump the salt water into saltpans for drying. The holiday park is set next to the iconic St Monans windmill and above a tidal pool, popular with wild swimmers throughout the year. Guests are welcome to the enjoy the bar, restaurant and cafe at nearby Elie Holiday Park.

THE worst site I’ve stayed at. My wife and I must be missing something about this site or the reviews are fabricated. Let me explain why. We stayed on pitch H7 which unknown to us is right next to the main road and so unbelievably noisy. Somebody mentions in a review that the tourer pitches are near the main road but you don’t hear the traffic. That just is not true. If you are not used to staying next to traffic then avoid this site as you won’t get much sleep. Our house is dead quiet at night so we ended up getting no sleep and left the site early. Forget any thoughts of stunning sea views from your camper. The static caravans are the ones on the frontline. The touring pitches are furthest away from the sea next to the main road and the pitches are close together and you can hear TVs and folk moving about during the night and the morning. There was heaving rain overnight and it appears drainage isn’t good as there were large patches of water that hadn’t drained away and seeped into our awning. Let me go on. There are two bud stops right beside the touring pitches. The buses sit with their engines idling for ages and it’s very noisy. Plus we had youths waiting at the bus stop banging on the shelter at 11 pm shouting and screaming. Then when the bus left some drunk men who got off the bus fell over our lines. This looks to be mainly a residential holiday site where folk come for the weekend for a big drinking session. Oh and I notice that nobody mentions that the toilet block and showers are shared! Yip you can be sitting doing your business while there is a lady and toddler having a shower a few feet away. All in all the worst camping experience ever. Yes the surrounding area is stunning and we enjoyed the east neuk very much but just avoid here. We are experienced campers of about 20 years so I think I’m pretty well placed to give an honest assessment.

Room Tip: The static caravans away from the road would be ok to stay in but avoid if touring. Much better...

We booked 12 May View as a nostalgic trip having had a family caravan at St Monans in the past. Everything was brilliant. Facilities were fab and location of 12 May View is perfect, overlooking the water with views to the lighthouse. St Monans is a great base for exploring nearby locations by car too (Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem, Elie, St Andrews). We had great meals in The Ship Inn in Elie and The Dreel Tavern in Anstruther.

At first sight the site is really good, well laid out, nicely kept, good location. Mainly statics & the 11 touring pitches are a bit of a sideline & at the back of the site so don't have a view, but were fine, pretty level which is always a bonus. One we would return to, or so we thought, until we used the unisex shower block & this is why we can only give 3 stars. The building looks to be quite new externally & so gives a good first impression. The toilets & wash basins are clean, so far so good. The shower cubicles are quite basic, the 30 second push button type showers, but there are hooks & plastic benches for towels etc. However the floor throughout the block is filthy, this was nothing to do with wet weather muddy feet, the dirt is ingrained & needs a scrubbing brush, a mop alone couldn't hope to get it clean. The shower plug covers are black around the edges & on closer inspection the benches in the shower are also filthy. Quite a lot of dust about too. I've emailed the head office of Abbey Ford to complain.

Good level pitch (H6), water point a bit awkward, used 2 hoses rather than manoeuvre over grass, drive over grey waste a bit tight for our 7.8m van, toilet block unisex, access with key, nice and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Less than 10 minutes to harbour and convenience shop and Chinese takeout (didn’t use). Only 1 and a half miles along coastal path to Pittenween. Tidal swimming pools at St Monans and West Brae Pittenween for the hardy. Would recommend the ‘Giddy Gannet’ cafe close to harbour on Station Road.

Unfortunately, this private caravan needs TLC urgently and also a very good clean. Steps to get into the caravan very rusty, very old picnic bench, fire rusty and damaged, peeling wallpaper.... should not be let out again until sorted. Also, very close to a main A road - as there is no double glazing it is very noisy with lorries, buses and young fast drivers with loud exhausts going past far too fast, even at 6 am !! The only plus is the view. Owner sorted some of the problems after we complained.

Camped for three nights with my daughters. The tent pitches are right at the rear edge of the park, beside a public footpath and housing scheme. Members of the public frequently used the campsite as a right of way to get to the nearby bus stop! Right past our tent! Did not feel like a secure place to be pitching tent. Otherwise, the park appears very well maintained and clean; just not a great place for campers in tents. Also, only one key given for toilet block (which is unisex, by the way, which might put some people off). Could do with an update - key code on toilet block? In addition, worth noting the park is advertised as having wi-if - free to use if staying in static caravan. ‘Small charge’ for campers - was going to work out at approx £20 for three nights! We had a good time, despite the circumstances, as we were exploring the local area most of the time. Would not recommend this site for campers.

We stayed on this expensive touring site for 4 nights in July and were very disappointed with it.We found:- 1 There was very little space between units 2 The waterpoint was very difficult to access and virtually impossible when the site was full 3 The hand sanitiser in the toilets remained empty for the duration of our stay 4 The toilet block was far from clean and must have contravened Covid-19 prevention recommendations

The caravan was very clean, thanks Tina, and very well equipped, including a lovely welcome pack. Best of all, we had a super view looking over the sea, very soothing and relaxing. Great location for walking the Fife Coastal path and visiting the East Neuk of Fife. We travelled by car but loved using the bus as there was a bus stop right next to the holiday park. Lovely seafood restaurants around and about. We had an electricity problem just before leaving and Robert responded straight away to resolve it when I phoned him. Covid precautions in place and we felt very safe throughout our stay. We had a super week and I would highly recommend this site. Thank you.

We stayed here from 26th to 31st October 2020. The site is immaculate, and sanitary unites were cleaned well albeit of older construction. Robert was very helpful with his information of the area and the help with the laundry machines. The walks to the harbour of St Monans and Pittenween are so enjoyable and East Euk is such a pretty area. We will definitely return
