We arrived in Sicily while Northern Italy was in lockdown, not expecting it to have much impact on our own holiday. Stefania our host had kept in touch before we arrived and we were delighted to be met by her at the station, as the B&B is not within walking distance with luggage. Our room was clean and comfortable - we chose the room opening onto the courtyard with a slightly larger bathroom. Breakfast was a lovely continental spread with rolls and pastries fresh from the nearby bakery - unfortunately it was too cold to eat outside but there is a little kitchen area where you can sit and also make drinks. If you turn right out of the B&B and walk along the coast you can have coffee and pastries at a lovely cafe right by the sea. On Sunday morning that's where all the Italians seemed to be so we knew it would be good. Unfortunately after that, the rules changed and due to the corona virus, restaurants and bars started to close down. We ate at two restaurants in Riposto - Marricriu and Botti, where we had lovely meals despite being the only people there. We also managed to travel on the bus (stop outside the B&B) to Taormina (again, alone) where most things were closed, and on the delightful Circumetnea railway, a 6 minute walk from the B&B, which takes you through the countryside around Etna to Randazzo, and back again. Our week was cut short by the cancellation of our flight and we must thank Stefania for taking us to the station under dire circumstances, providing us with the paperwork we needed to prove we were legitimate tourists, and advising us on every aspect of the local transport timetables, tours and sights. Our hearts go out to her as all bookings were then cancelled, and we wish her luck when this crisis is over, as this well placed guest house deserves to thrive.

It is nice to hear your words and I too hope that everything will return normal and that we will rise again. Despite the problems during your holiday I'm glad that you managed to see Catania, Taormina and the Etna tour even without a car. It was a pleasure to save your vacation and feel that you had finally arrived home in Bristol. This too will be an experience to remember. Virtual huggs from Sicily

This B&B is centrally located in Riposto. Our room was clean and comfortable. It opened out onto the small courtyard where breakfast is served. Our host, Stefania is a delight. She was so helpful in recommending local restaurants and excursions even explained the ones that offer discounts if you show her business card. Breakfast is simple but delicious. Bakery goods from the local bakery, fruit and yoghurts. Riposto is a good base to explore Etna. Taormina is superb and Catania is interesting as long as you don’t drive there! The train from Giarre/Riposto is quick and cheap. Stefania will explain all about it.

Recently returned from a weeks stay at B&B I Mastrazzi which we enjoyed immensely. Stefania was wonderful, nothing was to much trouble, from driving us to the station,(even getting her lovely mother to drive once when Stefania could not) and finding out time tables for trains and buses. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice ,cereal, croissants eggs, fruit and much more Riposto is ideally situated with good transport links to Catania, Syracuse, Taormina and Messina. So thank you Stefania for everything. We hope to see you again. Jean&John

We stayed at I Mastrazzi for one week in july. Is a very good alternative for hotels in this area. The B&B is located near the Porto dell'Etna- Marina di Riposto, where is a big restaurant with many options and very good prices. At I Mastrazzi we had very good conditions, very good breakfast with tasty croissants and coffe with a lot of milk, fruits and much more, the room was cleaned every day and Stefania and her husband - friendly and helpfull. The B&B is also near of the town center, with restaurants hidden on small old misterious streets in sicilian style with so many flowers at balconies. Also in 15-20 mins walking you are at the train station Giarre-Riposto and you can go by train to Taormina (2,5 €/ ticket), to Alcantara- same direction, or to Catania (3.10 €). Riposto is very good located for excursions to Etna. Stefania can help you with all the informations about this excursion and more. at 15 minutes walking from I mastrazzi you have a good and cheap beach in Mascali. I Mastrazzi is a very good choise if you want a magic vacation in Sicily with a small budget. Is cheaper than Taormina, and the position is at the middle way between Catania and Taormina. If you plan to visit Catania and Siracusa and also Taormina, Alcantara, Castelmola, Giardini Naxos, is better to choose Riposto. Thank you so much, Stefania and your team.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at I Mastrazzi for a week long spring break. Hosted by Stefania, along with the occasional company of her extended family, we enjoyed a wonderful stay at a very welcoming and hospitable B&B. Stefania excelled in providing a fresh and plentiful continental breakfast every day, offering a wide choice including home made cakes and pastries. The room was basic but well kept, clean and with adequate storage. In short it offered everything we needed from a B&B. Being a life long local Stefania has extensive local knowledge of great use and interest to us as guests. She was more than willing to share this knowledge to the great benefit of our exploration of the immediate surroundings of Riposto and beyond. We were very grateful for detailed information on local activities, transport arrangements, and even lifts to the local railway station. For us early spring was the perfect time of year for a much needed break. Every day except one we enjoyed azure skies and sea in a fairly quiet and welcoming town. Busier towns and cities are within easy reach by train if that is what you want but Riposto has everything you need to relax and enjoy good food from local sources and walks along the shore. A special mention must also go to the guided walks on Mount Etna. Very well worth the effort. Our guide Paulo helped make what for us was the experience of a lifetime. If you are chasing glitzy luxury and glamour this may not be for you. If you are seeking a warm welcome and hospitality, and an unspoilt Scillian Ionian experience you will not be disappointed. Fantastic, great value for money and we would definitely return to I Mastrazzi and recommend it to others without hesitation.

Thank you so much for your review, very much appreciated. It is very detailed and gives the real idea of what the guests of my B&B will find: not luxury but real life and simplicity and a warm welcome. For me it was a real pleasure to talk with you and suggest you where to go and what to see and visit, and also I am happy that you enjoyed Riposto. Thanks again and I hope to see you again, take care, ARRIVEDERCI!
