This was our third hotel that we stayed in during our 2 week trip in Borneo. The shuttle bus was waiting at the airport upon our arrival. When arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by members of staff and a welcome drink with a cold, refreshing towel.
We were taken to our room and when booking the hotel I mentioned that our holiday was a 30th birthday celebration. We were shocked when we walked through the door and balloons and banners were everywhere and a cake was made out of towels. The room was very spacious and clean and the bathroom was incredible looking out onto the rain forest. The bed was possibly one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.
The whole hotel was very clean and tidy and staff were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is a luxury amenity and is much needed after a walk in the rainforest!
Breakfast in the morning was very good and there was plenty of different options to suit different tastes. We went to the bar in the evening and had some cocktails which were delicious. We were even joined by a friendly toad.
Transport to and from the national park is easy with the shuttle buses which the hotel provide free of charge.
We would 100% return to this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone that would like to stay in a more luxury hotel during their stay in Mulu.

We arrived 15 May 2022, this is my 2nd visit after so many years. The resort now comes alive with Covid ending. This is very good for the staff, workers and local people who did nt have income during Covid, let's support them .The hotel really lived up to 5 stars status, the bedroom especially bathroom is beautiful, comfort, spacious and absolutely clean. Please bring your own slippers for your conviences, you will need it as you walk to the pool and the swim at the Clear Water Cave river, not to be missed. Since the hotel now had enough guests, we were served buffet bf and dinner. The meals are really good and quality. Thumbs up to the resort staffs from Reception, Restuarant, cleaners, Sweepers and Tour guides for their good service. The tour guides for the Caves tours are doing a good job and taking good care of the travellers. Appreciation to veteran tour guide, Mr. Ting, he is very knowlegeable and we learnt a lot from him. About the hotel, the pathway tentrance to rooms with both sides having bamboo trees are stunning. If you are elderly, the rooms at Block 6 is far away but for youngers is no big deal

I stayed here for one night. The accommodation is very spacious and comfortable with a private balcony and jungle views. I greatly enjoyed the bar, pool area and spa. All the staff were very helpful but I particularly appreciated my spa therapist Theresa who was very friendly and provided a great service. The housekeeping staff were also very flexible arranging a laundry service at short notice.

I found the lunch and breakfast buffets to be good quality, but the evening menu could be improved.

In addition to the food the main reason I cannot give 5 stars is that the hotel will only book tours of Mulu National Park for 5 people or more. So if you are a solo traveller I suggest staying at the Mulu National Park instead where I spent my first three nights, whilst going on the same tours as guests from the Marriott! If this hadn't been the case I would have likely stayed at the Marriott longer. The national park is also (at least) a 10 minute round trip by vehicle from the park, so not as convenient as other accomodation.

Having said this, the hotel embodies the high standards that I usually expect from the Marriott Chain, I just find their policies around tours unfortunate.

Stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed out time here at Marriott and Mulu. All the rooms are built on stilt around the forest, our room with a balcony facing the forest that makes you aware you are among the nature. Spacious room with all amenities even has a espresso capsule machine but surprisingly no safety box , which is very useful to store your valuables when you are out for activities here.
The resort provide complimentary shuttle service to the airport and Mulu National Park and the service is impeccable, we were never make to wait for the shuttle.
The breakfast is OK but lack of varieties of Marrioitt standard, but taking into consideration in this isolated area where everything have to be air flown. Did not try out other meals here as prefer to eat outside the resort in support of the local communities and businesses of this isolated wonder.
Lots of activities and tours provided by the national park and Mulu not just about " The Pinnacle" , you can simply spend a few days exploring the park with tours or self guided trekking.
If I am back again , will still stay At Marriott but do my part to support the local businesses . Mulu +Marriott.

mulu marriot provides the perfect respite in between your hikes in Mulu national park. The rooms were very spacious and modern, The beds i used were really soft, one of the softest i've slept in. The facilities were excellent and luxurious.

As i purchased a room & board package, I can say the food is excellent & the portions were very generous despite the isolated location. My favourites include the garlicky nasi goreng, the thick beef burger, and the traditional ayam pansuh. The highlights of the buffet were the noodle soup (breakfast), the walnut almond tart, the beef stew, the steamed lamb, and ikan bakar.

For those who are worried, there is Wi-Fi in the public areas and i can confirmed its very high speed. i can even watch Netflix there. And calls and sms are still available in your rooms

But the highlight of the this hotel for me is the staff. They were truly hospitable. I want to personally thank steve duloi for his excellent service of being our guide in the national park and daglish who took care of us in the M cafe

honestly, I can't think of anything to criticize them for as I had an amazing time and it was one of the best trips i ever had.

A perfect base for visiting the national park. Bearing in mind it’s location, it offers an excellent service, as you would expect from Marriott.

It is in a very good location, close enough to the entrance of Mulu national park. A free shuttle bus runs to the airport and park HQ.

The hotel has a central area containing the reception, bar and restaurant. A lot of this area is open to elements and you will become a-custom to the local wild life you’ve come to see. As you sit in the bar in evening, the local bats will be flying around keeping the mosquitoes down. I am usually on the menu but I didn’t pick up too many bites while staying here.

The rooms are laid out on raised walkways from the central area. Our room was nice, well appointed and clean. The AC was good and very welcome, it is necessity because of the high temperatures and humidity. As I mentioned previously, there is a lot of wild life here. In the evening, the walkways are dimly lit, so they are not too intrusive in the environment. However, this doesn’t stop them from becoming a bug highway. Don’t let this deter you, it’s why we come here. The lights do attract the massive cicadas that live here and you have to ‘run the gauntlet’ each evening; it’s all part of the attraction of this place :-)

The variety of food was fine considering the isolated location and we enjoyed our meals. Breakfast is a big buffet and there should be something to suit everyone. There is Wi-Fi, if needed but it is only available in the hotel lobby and at the bar. There is also a nice pool area too.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Also checkout Stella Cafe, located across the hotel bridge on the opposite bank.

This was our 4th hotel in the space of 2 weeks and it was absolutely amazing.

We arrived on the truck from the airport and had been upgraded to a Suite, the room was out of this world, huge living room, bedroom, balcony and bathroom with a bath looking out into the rainforest.

The facilities are great, nice gym, pool was stunning, the hotel is set upon stilts in the middle of the forest.

Food was good, decent wine list, not overly expensive for how remote you are but they do run out of a lot of items as it all had to be flown in and frequently gets spoilt, a menu which changes on a regular basis would make more sense here to avoid disappointment.

The setting in Mulu is breath taking, we arranged 2 trips through the hotel, they have their own guides, provide packed lunches for you and will even get your wrist bands for the park entrance. Both guides were brilliant but Phillipi was local and was outstanding. We did all 4 of the show caves, the bat exodus, we were about to give up then Phillipi saw them start to leave. We then walked back in the dark, with Phillipi spotting different animals/insects and reptiles on then way. Don’t expect to see lots of wildlife here but don’t let that put you off, it’s so stunning.

Was there with family for holiday, Mulu is an interesting place and a must to visit in a lifetime. & Mulu Marriott is the best place to stay if you wish to pamper yourself and your family after a long day venturing all those famous caves. Their staffs are friendly & helpful, the rooms are big, clean, with all necessary facilities & with a small balcony facing forests. The buffet breakfast was so tasty with reasonably choices. Will certainly stay there again in future.

Unbelievable hotel right next to the National Park, so close you can walk there. Very cool atmosphere with most of the hotel in semi outdoor areas.

Rooms were absolutely wonderful, we had a suite with a massive outdoor patio that was nice to relax in and enjoy the forest. I would recommend the upgrade. Food was just ok if you are getting western style; far superior and delicious are the local dishes so go for those.

We also booked tours of the park through the hotel; it is more expensive but nice to be in a small group and leave right from the hotel. You can also easily walk to the park but there is a free shuttle.

One of the more unique Marriotts we have stayed in and we would go back; great execution of a hotel in the middle of nowhere! Staff was also friendly and helpful.

Loved being picked up in an open truck. The views are sensational and we really enjoyed being in the thick of it (with a very comfy and clean room).

It can be frustrating as service can be variable. Orders not always remembered and so often received the wrong drinks or food!

Careful of the railings in the evening as it becomes a bug highway!

It was a shame pool shut as was larger seating area.
