I can't say enough about the hospitality we received at the Forest Lodge. My husband and I were hiking the Great Glen Way on a very rainy day. Lorraine and Laura were waiting for us at the front door, waving us in from the road. We were sopping wet and they took all of our wet clothes and dried them for us. The next day, our hiking boots were not only dry, but warm! Dinner that night was delicious and just what we needed. A wonderful experience!

Can't recommend this place highly enough. Lorraine and Laura so friendly and genuine and we received the best welcome we've had anywhere. Scottish tourism really needs more of this. An unpretentious home shared with visitors and homely and thoughtful touches everywhere. Lovely food - we had very tasty evening meal and huge packed lunch. Just what is required and excellent value for money. Sorry to leave! Every success to this little place doing its best for weary travellers on The Great Glen Way (and no doubt other places..,) Thank You so much x

Had a great stay here while walking The Great Glen Way - the hosts couldn't do enough for me, even fitting me in for an evening meal at short notice. Room was large and very comfortable; the breakfast and packed lunch were brilliant too. Highly recommended

I arrived soaking wet having walked through torrential rain from Fort Augustus to a very warm welcome from Lorraine and Laura who took all of my wet gear and boots away then showed me to my room. After spending a very restful evening relaxing in their lounge and fuelled by a good breakfast all of my gear reappeared dry and warm the next morning for my 22 mile walk to Fort William. Spot on!

Very warm and friendly B&B. Perfect location for exploring the glens. Very close to the road which makes it easy to access but might me noisy in the summer outside or with the windows open. Functional room with all facilities. Spaghetti and ginger cake where lovely. Breakfast, full English and scrambled eggs with salmon, was 11 out of 10.

Thank you for your review Linda and it was a pleasure having you two stay with us. We are so pleased to read that you enjoyed the food we served and that your room was comfortable. We are situated on the A82, which as you mentioned is great for access but with regards to the road noise, this is not an issue. We are set well back from the road and it goes very quiet at night so no disturbance happens, even with the window open. Our bedroom faces the road and we have our window open all the time with no problems. Certain times of the year the loudest things are the sheep :-) Hope to see you both again sometime.

Right from the first communication, we were made to feel welcome and on arrival knew we'd made the right choice in staying here. After a long day of walking the Great Glen Way in stupidly high temperatures, the offer of a lift was appreciated and within minutes of phoning, they were taking us the mile to the guest house. Our room was comfortable and well decorated. The evening meal was good value and, along with breakfast, really tasty. Loved the honesty shop. The location was peaceful and we spent the evening in the guest lounge which has spectacular views. Thank you Lorraine & Laura for such a lovely relaxing stay, a real home from home!

I have to agree with all the favourable comments made by others about Forest Lodge. The hostesses were welcoming and the meals excellent and generous though there was an element of inflexibility in the timing. Sadly, your reaction to any form of even slightly adverse comment or suggestion is very aggressive but the premises are dated and in need of modernisation with updated bathrooms and bedding. Perhaps a visit to some of the other B &Bs used by the walking companies would let you see what is on offer elsewhere. Wedging open a fire door is not only dangerous but illegal.

Thank you Hazel for your review, all feedback gratefully received. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the meals you had with us and that you found us welcoming. We are very confused about being inflexible as you never asked us to change the timings of anything during your stay. Within reason we always try to fit in with the needs of our guests. We welcome feedback and based on comments from past guests we ensured that at the beginning of this season all our pillows and duvets were upgraded and all of our bedding is hotel quality. We absolutely agree that our bathrooms need modernising and updating, unfortunately COVID meant we have had to put this on hold but based on guest comments we have now booked someone in to give us a quote on the work.

My mum and myself stayed here while walking the Great Glen Way, and after a horribly long day of extra mile diversions were picked up and taken to a very friendly and warm welcome by Laura and Lorraine! Our bags were already up in our room, and we were able to relax and unwind after a long day. The homemade meal was great, special mention to the homemade ginger cake at the end of the meal! The surrounding area is beautiful, and our hosts gave us a lot of useful information about the best route to take the following day. There is even a little “shop” where you can pick up blister plasters, little treats etc etc - something overlooked by other accommodations.

We stayed here one night when walking the Great Glen Way. Laura and Lorraine are fabulous hosts and picked us up at Laggan Locks to save us the extra walk down the road. Breakfast was really good and they offer Spaghetti Bolognese for dinner followed by a delicious ginger cake for a small extra charge.

Stayed for one night whilst hiking the Great Glen Way. Service great and friendly hosts, food lovely and plentiful! Accommodation was a little basic and dated compared to other places we stayed that week but perfectly clean, tidy and comfortable for an overnight stay.

Thank you for your review and we are glad, that on the whole, you enjoyed your stay with us. We were disappointed to read that you felt that our accommodation was 'dated and basic', we cater mainly for one night stays who all seem very happy with a hot shower, warm room and a comfortable bed and bedding. We have a large guest lounge for our visitors to use if they wish too and a garden for when the weather is nice. COVID meant that a lot of the re-decoration that we had planned has been delayed but we know that our rooms are not lacking in comfort or facilities. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our guest house so we thank you for mentioning that in your review We noticed that you have only marked us 4 for location. We are perfectly placed at the end of the second section of the Great Glen Way and we offer a collection from Laggan Lock as we are on the A82. Once you are at our property you have amazing views and you cannot hear the road as we are set well back, that rating was also disappointing to see. With regards to your 4 rating for value, we are one of the most affordable guest houses on the GGW and have done extensive market research to ensure our rooms, meals and packed lunches are priced very competitively. We are very disappointed that none of your issues were brought to our attention at the time of your stay or emailed directly to us.
