After a 12 hour drive our original booking was elsewhere however the previous place was just awful, so we done a quick search and found this hidden gem, we took a chance and drove to them and asked if they had a room for 2 nights, the owners were so welcoming and said they had a room available which after looking we jumped at the opportunity, the owners were very friendly and really took time to ensure we knew where to go for food etc, the room was a triple room with a lovely comfortable double bed and a single bed, we had sky TV and a kettle, we also had our own bathroom with an awesome shower, we had access to the dining room which had tables and chairs and also a comfy area with sofa to watch TV, we also had access to a fridge, microwave and toaster, everything we needed was right there. Easy to get to local attractions and easy to find. A lovely quiet place, we will definitely be coming back, I've really felt at home and nothing was too much trouble, I would whole heartedly recommend this place to anyone, thank you.

This is a lovely little guesthouse which is a bit walk from the centre of drumnadrochit but close to the loch Ness Inn and when you get used to the walk it's fine. Highland cows close by and a wee forest walkway to the edge of the loch (crossing a river though so be warned). Sarah and her family were nice, reachable via text message and with info packs and everything needed in the rooms. Couldn't want more really from a wee place for the price, perhaps a small fridge but that's okay :)

Before I review this very good B&B I would just like to say something about previous comments around room size, like most B&B's the room size is comparable to the size of rooms that you have in your own houses, for those people who complain about room size perhaps next time you might like to stay in a luxury hotel where size and cost go hand in hand. Rant over!

Sarah you have a very good B&B and you made Lynn and I extremely welcome and we loved staying with you, breakfast was awesome! First time sampling haggis and I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised. The location was ideal for us and your advice about local places to eat and about the places to walk was very much appreciated, you are very knowledgeable and you made our stay with you one of the best, nothing was too much trouble for you. The en-suite was stunning and I doubt anyone would have trouble complaining about them.

I would stay at The Aslaich B&B again and again and again if the occasion should arise.

Disappointing. Was more like a hostel than a bed-and-breakfast. First, there’s no breakfast! For £70/$86 they should provide at least juices, pastries, etc. No refunds, & bathroom was across hall (no en suite). Never met the hosts, was greeted by a note on the door. Otherwise facilities were clean, comfortable bed and small but functional shower. Convenient to Great Glen Way walkers but not to the center of town, about a mile away. Can not recommend.

This guest house was very clean but that’s where the feel good factor ended. It should advertise itself as an upmarket bunkhouse. The communal area, where you prepare your own breakfast, is very tired and old fashioned. To fill the kettle you have to use the wash hand basin in your bathroom as there is no access to the kitchen, which remains locked when the owner isn’t around. Having been told that we were the only guests staying that night we left milk, butter and bread in the communal «kitchen/dining area », only to find it had all been used by a late booking, who very conveniently left in the very early morning before we were awake. The guest information folder left in our bedroom was very unwelcoming, with numerous references to how much you would be fined if you dared to break any house rules. It all felt very down market. Fine perhaps for backpackers on the Great Glen Way but not what we were hoping for.

OK, so this is going to be a long story of how the owners caused us a load of stress for the sake of keeping £80 they didn't earn. I will also start off by admitting that the situation arose mainly due to our naivety, but the way we were dealt with following that was in my opinion shocking!

My partner & I booked this bed & breakfast as part of a birthday trip to Skye. It was a month & a half before the trip and this was the only affordable place available for the date we needed. Unfortunately it was also non-optional as non-refundable. Our entire holiday hinged on getting a hotel around this location & as it was the only non-refundable item in the trip I naively decided to go for it, thinking my credit card would provide some protection. There was also a warning that there was only limited room left, so I felt pressured to make the purchase. Up to here I admit was completely my fault for allowing myself to be pressured to make the purchase.
Now I won't go too much into the details, but a few of days later there was a devastating event involving my partner that meant we could not travel. I therefore cancelled the other parts of the trip & emailed Aslaich Bed & Breakfast to ask that if in the circumstances that they would consider a refund(Or not taking the payment, as it had not come off my card at that point). The reply was a blunt uncaring no with no other reason than it was a non-refundable payment, but they would be happy to cancel the reservation, re-sell the room & keep the extra money. Though they did offer to provide a receipt for insurance claims(Which we had not got around to buying due to the short amount of time) & claimed the money wouldn't be taken until one month before the booking.
I then responded by pointing out the mitigating circumstances of the booking only being in place a matter of days, it being due to unfortunate circumstances & not a regular cancellation, it being relatively easy to re-sell a room at peak time, they had not taken payment and finally my discovery that they had identical rooms at identical prices listed on Booking.com that were refundable. I got no response to this except them taking payment from my card early! I can only assume they just wanted to get the money(£80) before I had the chance to stop the payment or something.
A week passed with no response, so I chased it up. This time also asking if the room was transferable to another name. I was told a flat no & it was in the T&Cs.
At this point I contacted Expedia & asked about their policies on refunds being more favorable on other sites than theirs and also if the room was transferable as I could not find it in the T&Cs. Now I pity anyone who's experienced Expedia customer service as getting a straight answer out of them is a nightmare. It took several emails but they said they couldn't do anything about the refund as the payment had been taken(Now you understand why they took that payment early!!!) & then that I could actually change the name of the booking(So they also lied!!!).
By this time it was getting too short notice to resell the booking or organise for family or friends to go instead & the stress caused by trying to get simple answers was not good for me or especially my partner. So we decided to put it down as a bad experience & leave it at that, just to end the stress.
Then came a quick review email from Expedia that I rated our experiences of our interactions with them & get an email back of them yelling at us because we never managed to stay with them. So please count this as me yelling back!!!!
DO NOT GIVE THESE GREEDY UNCARING HOTEL OWNERS YOUR MONEY IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!
Also shop around & check refund policies on different sites & book insurance immediately. Please learn from my mistakes!

This is the 5th time we have stayed here, and the place has not changed. The breakfast really is the best I have had up Scotland and the hostess Sarah gives everyone a very warm welcome. Add the location, a great pub nearby, and this is the place to go if you want a peaceful time in Loch ness, I would be very surprised if anyone is disappointed with their stay here.

Although the rooms are on the smaller side ( especially with luggage etc in room) we could not fault this B&B. Short walk to a few local pubs, all info provided in helpful in room guide. Lovely woodland walk/run at end of road. Huge tasty breakfast overlooking delightful view. Guests welcome to enjoy take away good in communal lounge/TV area We had two nights, would loved to stay a few more. Our hosts were most friendly.
