For people looking to get away from the crowds while getting great service and great food with amazing ocean views, Atlantis Historic Hotel is the spot. As it is such a small inn, the staff knew us by name, knew our favourite table in the restaurant and even our food and drink preferences. The buffet is not to be missed! Easy scenic walk to beautiful Bathsheba Beach to watch the surfers and enjoy a long walk on the sand. Andromeda Gardens is also an easy walk, a lovely destination, and well worth the visit. We will certainly return to this very special spot.

I took my 2 kids just for a one night getaway. Atlantis is in a beautiful location, on the quiet east coast of the island. The staff were very friendly (special shoutout to Ophia who helped us with everything). It's a great place to go if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle and relax. It's also close to Soup Bowl which is a fantastic spot for experienced surfers.

A wonderful last day of a 2 week visit to Barbados. I was obliged to find a hotel one night because of a delayed flight. I wanted something special to finish an excellent visit with 2 good friends at their Villa. The Atlantis turned out to indeed be a superb finale. Spectacular views everywhere from huge bedroom double window, the outdoor dining deck, the covered dining area, swimming pool and a comfortable salon. This Victorian age hôtel had all the charm of that period, updated with modern aménités such as air conditioning. I enjoyed the food and cocktails at their excellent restaurant. I was so satisfied that I had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Sip a watermelon Cooler or an Atlantis Green Monkey. Especially enjoyed the Jerk Calamar, Rogan Josh East Indian Curry, Coconut bread pudding warm cherry pie and true full English Breakfast. Best treat for me was sleeping with Windows open wide and hearing the roaring of the Atlantic Ocean Waves 🌊🌊🌊

Came here one late afternoon and had a proper afternoon cuppa overlooking the sea. Lots of local train history here and a great place to explore Bathsheba. Lovely service and friendly staff. Good car park.

We stayed at the hotel for a week in January 2023 and couldn't have been more pleased that we had chosen it. Our room was large, well-equipped and with a stunning view of the sea. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was first class. The location is also perfect for long walks on the beach both at Bathsheba and along to Cattlewash - and the pool means that you can have a swim too. If you go, also make sure to visit the Andromeda garden that's a short walk up the hill. It a lovely peaceful spot with amazing tropical vegetation.

Being on the east coast of Barbados you go knowing that you're unable to swim in the sea. The east coast has a natural beauty that the west coast doesn't. The hotel does have a small pool and a few sun loungers. The sound of the crashing waves was incredibly soothing and the view from our one-bedroom Ocean view suite was incredible! That said, the hotel is tired and needs some updating in the communal areas. There is not as much love, care and attention to detail at this hotel as there is at their sister hotel Little Good Harbour which is a great shame. I'm not sure we will go back given the lack of beach and swimming access but we highly recommend Little Good Harbour and will keep returning there in the years to come!!

The hotel is set on the Atlantic coast and has the most incredible views. Choose an Ocean View room for a vista that is stunning to wake up to. The staff are excellent - attentive when required, but never over-attentive.

What a wonderful place, truly magical, came 20 years ago when it was in sad repair, popped in for a coffee, no guests gentleman showed me around it was in much need of TLC . So it was s trip down memory lane. It had been beautifully, sympathetically restored to its original glory. Had an ocean view, room was wonderful to go to sleep with windows open and a gentle breeze cooling you as you listen to the waves crashing.

Let me first say we really enjoyed this hotel. It's on a beautiful site overlooking Atlantic waves crashing onto rocks, quite the change from the west coast's beaches. The room we had was lovely, clean, not 'tired' or any of that, and the bed was huge and comfortable. The pool was very nice and the staff are friendly and helpful. But you have to go in accepting that the restaurant will be closed for about half of the week (we did know, so this is for information, not a complaint). On three days of the week, the restaurant is open for 'all day dining', but even on these days, you're looking at about 7pm for the latest you can be seated (we were told the last sitting was 6pm, but people were coming in after that). On three other days of the week the restaurant closes for the day at about 3.30pm (still called 'all day dining', somehow). And on Tuesday the restaurant is shut completely. (Note, it's open for breakfast every day.) On the three days it's closed for dinner, and all day on Tuesday, you can order from a more limited menu; food is cooked by a different restaurant and delivered to Atlantis in plastic containers (it takes about an hour and a half after you order for it to arrive). That sounds a bit rough, but the one time we did this the food was actually very nice so it's a decent replacement service. You can eat the delivered food where you want I think - we had ours in our room but there's a pleasant lounge you can sit in too. This is important as there aren't many other options nearby given this is a quiet part of the island (lunch in the Sea View Bar up the hill was pretty good though). As is the way with the whole of Barbados, they seem incapable of putting up a simple sign to explain any of this, so the staff constantly have to explain this curious arrangement to visitors and guests alike. I expect they do it to give the staff time off, which is obviously fair enough, but the lack of information is a bit daft. Seriously Atlantis, just laminate a sign and put it on the counter at reception whenever the restaurant's shut, it's really not hard and it'll surely reduce awkward conversations. But, provided you visit knowing all this about the restaurant, you're likely to enjoy Atlantis greatly if our experience is anything to go by.

Response from Atlantis Historic Inn, General Manager at Atlantis Historic Inn
Responded 27 Mar 2022
Thank you for sharing this review of your recent holiday experience with us! We’re delighted that you had a lovely time in Barbados and with us at the Atlantis Historic Inn. Thank you for particularly highlighting the condition of your One Bedroom Ocean Front Suite! I also join you in commending our truly wonderful and courteous team, who always go the extra mile to ensure that you have a splendid holiday! Regarding the restaurant, Bathsheba has not recovered from COVID-19 as yet, so no restaurants in the area are open daily. We maintain breakfast service seven days a week. Lunch service is six days a week (closed Tuesday) and dinner service four evenings a week (Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat). The bar is open all day on Tuesdays, but no food is available after breakfast. We encourage our guests to visit Eco Lodge, Dina’s, Uncle Joes, Zaccio’s and Roundhouse which are all nearby and all provide great food and drinks. In addition to this, the room service delivery menu is suitable for those who don’t have a rental car and would prefer to stay in. Prior to COVID-19, we were the only restaurant in the area open seven days a week breakfast, lunch and dinner. But alas, much has changed. I thank you for making us your hotel of choice and definitely look forward to welcoming you back once more, in the not so distant future! Best Regards

The location is lovely. But for the prices they charge, this hotel represents poor value for money. The staff are all kind, friendly and helpful - I have not criticism of any of them - but the institution itself is shabby and is not delivering service at the level it should. The room I was allocated had barely any view at all, looking out over the rubbish bins and generator which ran for several hours on my second night, depriving me of sleep. There was only one set of towels in the room and they were not replaced even though I left them on the floor, simply hung up again. With only one housekeeper, my room was not refreshed until well into the afternoon. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast which came with lashings of bacon - when I queried this, the waiter hurriedly removed the bacon and gave me back the same plate - where I discovered more bacon. I asked for a fruit plate instead and the hotel attempted to charge me $30 for the privilege. Dinner was adequate but really, at these prices, it needs to be better. The hotel management needs to try much, much harder - and to empower, train and remuneratetheir management and staff to do so, too.

Response from Atlantis Historic Inn, General Manager at Atlantis Historic Inn
Responded 7 Mar 2022
Thanks for taking the time to share your review of your March 3-5 2022 stay. Your reservation was made online at 9:16pm on March 2nd 2022 for arrival at 3pm the following day in a Coastal View Room which was the only suite that was available. As the hotel was fully booked, we are unsure how we could have otherwise accommodated you in a different suite, considering there were no alternatives available for your last minute booking. Your statement regarding rubbish bins being outside the window is untrue. What is however on the outside is two 600 gallon water tanks - the purpose of which is to store water for emergency purposes should there be an outage in the area. Unfortunately, there was a power outage in the area of the hotel on your second night which occurred from 9:02pm to 11:15pm. Although this was well outside of our control, please accept our apologies that our relatively quiet generator deprived you of sleep that night. It is very difficult for anyone to predict when a power outage will occur. The purpose of the generator is to keep the hotel running in the event of a power outage so that our guests are not left in complete darkness. Whilst housekeeping endeavours to service all rooms while guests are at breakfast, some guests leave their DND signs on the door and in some instances these rooms are done later in the morning or early afternoon. Unfortunately as your stay was two nights, it meant that you had housekeeping once as there is no housekeeping service on the day of departure. Regarding breakfast, your order did indeed arrive with bacon which the chef corrected thereafter. You then subsequently ordered a fruit plate after consuming your initial order which there is an additional charge for and which you would have been aware of. As per our breakfast menu, a fruit plate is $20 BBD or $10 USD and not $30 as was stated in your review. Perhaps in the future you will make your reservation a few weeks or months in advance as many of our guests do. This way you will be able to get the Ocean Front option which you desired to have but which ultimately was not available. Best Regards
