Ok so you get a room in this place and that's about it. Beautifully elegant building but it's shabby and needs some tlc. Our room was ok, bed disappointing. Pool not hated and not well maintained. Then they tell you not to open windows because of the flies, fair enough, that's the case with most properties surrounded by the woodland....

We stayed one night in a family suite, which was really nice. The bathroom is modern, while everything else is old but well maintained. The personal reception by the owner was very nice, and so was the breakfast. And the kids are still excited about having stayed in a real castle! I would probably give 5 points, but made it...

I feel that this review needs a big caveat before we say anything: the customer service of the couple who run the hotel was exemplary; they made us feel welcome, cared for and our issues listened to. We decided to book a “Château Suite” and treat ourselves as we were planning a couple of days to unwind and not do...

+++ beautiful chateau, great hosts, perfect location, comfortable parking, nice swimming pool, fairly good breakfas -- two floors up the stairs with suitcases can be difficult, the rooms could do with a bit of refurbishment, twin beds drifting apart Having said that, we had a great stay and I'd definitely go back.

Staying at the 16th Century Chateau de Vallagon in the Loire Valley near the banks of the Cher River was like stepping back in time while the hint of faded glory in the Chateau only adds to the charm. The grounds and interior are immaculately maintained. We stayed for two nights either side of a six day cycling holiday and...

The hotel is a little hard to find but worth the effort. It is quaint in a beautiful setting. The rooms are large and my room #4 looked out over the garden and pool. The beds are not the best but my friend and I thought the experience mde up for the bed quality. This is an older chateau so...

We had the family room. The castle is nice but the quality of the mattresses are really poor. The king size is composed of two individuals mattresses which are not at the same level (big bump in the middle). The queen bed was very uncomfortable. Regarding the shower, don't expect to have hot water (medium temperature). The breakfasts were not...

Stunning location, helpful and friendly staff, beautiful room. Exactly the right amount of luxury without feeling stuffy. We lounged by the pool in the afternoon and enjoyed the tranquility of the area. We will definitely be back!
