Hearty welcome on reception. Tea and cookies while sorting out our reservation. Beautiful rooms with immaculate charm, linen and whatever wished for... The best of Scottish breakfast, with beautiful dinnerware, starched linen table cloth - fit for a queen! Everything at Old Drynie speaks of elegance and class.. Alisdair discussed everydays itinerary with us, which we found very helpful. Dont miss out on life - visit Old Drynie!

Hello Deirdre and Alasdair, My family and I had a wonderful time at your establishment. Of all our stays, Old Drynie house had the most welcoming experience. It felt cozy and like a home away from home. We wish we had the opportunity to spend more days (instead of back and forth), but will remember next time to plan more in advance. I appreciated the time Alasdair spent helping recommend places to visit.

I cannot say enough lovely things about our experience at the Old Drynie House! The selection and quality of breakfast was outstanding. The house is beautiful yet comfortable. The property is quiet and well-kept with a lovely view of the firth. We stayed in the double room which was very comfortable, and the bathroom includes a large jetted tub for relaxing at the end of a long day of sightseeing. The room's amenities were so thoughtful! They included a flatiron, hair dryer, coffee maker, variety of snacks and a box of toiletries in case a guest had forgotten something. It was also very nice to have a fridge in the room! However, the thing that truly made our stay special were the owners, Diedre and Alasdair. They take the time to get to know their guests, and they have a passion to make sure that each guest gets the most out of their stay in the area. Alasdair made us a map showing us numerous points of interest around Loche Ness which we would have missed otherwise. Our stay in Inverness was made richer by the time and care of these two lovely people, and I can't recommend the Old Drynie House enough!

We have stayed in vacation rentals in many places, but this was a rare find. The accommodations were modern and very comfortable. The grounds around it are something you might expect to pay to enter: Immaculate lawns and gardens punctuated by towering pines framing a panoramic view of Moray Firth. But the property’s most valuable asset is it’s owners, Alasdair and Deirdre who live on the grounds. They were remarkable hosts; attentive, gracious and keen to share their deep knowledge and love of the Highlands. Each day Alasdair would happily brief us on how to get the most from our chosen activity. The Scottish tourism authority couldn’t ask for better ambassadors.

Myself, and 2 golfing friends, arrived in Inverness in May 2023 for a 4 night golf tour.. Old Drynie House, is situated just over a 10 minute drive north of Inverness, and lies in a beautiful estate, adjacent to the Moray Firth. On arrival, we were met by husband and wife team, Alasdair and Deirdre, who quite frankly blew us away with their sincere and warm welcome. During our stay, they went above and beyond making sure that we had everything we needed, from milk, eggs, bread etc, to helping us dry our golf clubs and shoes; They provided abundant information about the surrounding area; where to eat, what to see and what to do. The accommodation was fantastic, with high quality furnishings in all bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen/dining/sitting area. I have to say that we all agreed that the attention to detail was exceptional, from beautiful paintings, to unique ornaments and decor. In addition to all of this, we spent quite a few hours in their exceptional games suite, which include full size snooker table, darts, table football etc. Old Drying House is surrounded by a spectacular garden, with beautiful trees, a large manicured lawn, an amazing display of every type of tulips, natural wood sculptures, cut into a large vertical tree trunk, and a raised platform with a bench table, where you can sit with a beer, or a glass of wine, whilst gazing out over the Moray Firth. In addition, and adjacent to the garden, there is a large cut field, surrounded on one side with an extensive bluebell woodland to explore. In conclusion, we all agreed that we had never had this level of experience before, and we are determined to return for another few days golf in the not too distant future. I am also looking at bringing my family to Old Drynie, as there is an abundance of interesting activities for all, in the surrounding area, and I know that our two young grandsons will just love exploring the estate. Thank you Alasdair and Deirdre x

I stayed here with my family for just one night unfortunately. I wouldve stayed for a lot more. There is so much to explore and its all so beautiful and you certainly cant do it all in just one night. This place has such a cozy homey feel and it just feels like home. Its a lot more than just a bed and breakfast, its a safe place, the house is filled with an overwhelming feeling of comfort and happiness and laughter i wouldnt be able to describe it all in this review. The food is delicious, the hosts are incredible the place is absolutely gorgeous and its just the best experience ever. It is so much more than just a bed and breakfast. Outside is a huge garden to explore and activities to do with your family and flowers and its just perfection. I cant reccomend this place enough.

A group of six of us stayed here for three nights and the group asked me why we didn't stay longer. The property is set in a beautiful area and well worth the drive off the beaten path. We stayed in the Garden Annex and couldn't have been more comfortable. Guests have access to a game room with darts and billiards which was very fun. The hosts were very welcoming and gracious and offered very helpful and detailed advice on things to do and see in the area. Fantastic stay would highly recommend.

If you are looking to spend time away in beautiful and relaxing surroundings this is DEFINITELY the place to stay. Alasdair and Deirdre are absolutely incredible hosts and Alasdair is incredibly knowlegable about the area and can easily provide suggestions for routes and recommendations about where to eat out. From the word go they were spot on with making us feel welcome and provided extensive directions as to how to get there (Satnavs will end up making you lost, so its best to follow the directions they provide) We stayed in the Self Catering Lodge which more than met our needs. The bedrooms are tastefully furnished, have all the facilities you need and more and the bathrooms are incredible!. The games room was also great for spending some time with the family and we certainly enjoyed playing billiards and darts. The Grounds are absolutely spectacular and you are able to freely walk around them, there is also easy walking distance down to the "village" of Kilmuir, which has a very picturesque coastline and a "book swap" telephone box!. We cannot speak any more highly of The Old Drynie and we would totally recommend this without hesitation to any families or couples who would love a break in beautiful peaceful surroundings. Thanks Alasdair and Deirdre for making our stay such an amazing one!

What could be better than a comfortable home away from home, at perfect location, in one of the most beautiful places on earth? Having said accommodation hosted by two of the most warm, welcoming, and hard working inn keepers. Deirdre and Alasdair Mackenzie could give lessons on how to run a Bed and Breakfast. The Old Drynie House just north of Inverness is one of your best accommodation options in all of Scotland. The location is breathtaking, the grounds are estate like, the home is cozy, and the rooms well outfitted. We stayed in the Garden Suite Double, a nice sized bedroom with a marvelous attached bathroom that has a jetted tub and shower - a welcome surprise to help settle my aches from some hiking and a head cold. Attached to the suite is a common room shared with another bedroom that has laundry machines, a dining table and tableware if you want to bring in food. There’s also a dishwasher to make cleaning up after yourself less cumbersome. There’s televisions throughout the suites and a nice selection of DVDs if you cannot find something on the satellite feed. Of course the second part of B&B is the breakfast. The dining setting is romantic and classy and the meal is second to none. Alasdair will take your order the day prior and have your meal ready on time. Fresh fruits from the garden and homemade jams adorn the table. I had never tried porridge, yet it was recommended as a starter to help deal with my previously referenced head cold. It worked as my cold seemed to improve and I could enjoy the remainder of my holiday. I also had a mushroom and tomato omelette that was superb. All in all my only regret is that we didn’t take a longer break in Inverness and spend two or three nights at The Old Drynie House. But 2021 has me back in Scotland and you can bet I’ll be returning there. Highly recommended!!
