We visited la roultiere twice but I've only just joined trip advisor so my review is not new.(July 2015, July 2016) This place is amazing... Quiet and nestled in some wonderful countryside if you are looking for an escape from the rat race this is it. The gites are well equipped, clean and the whole site is tidy. There is every outdoor toy any child should really need and a pool. Phil the owner also puts on a weekly BBQ so you can socialise with the other guest on an evening, he also has a tractor and trailer, the children all had rides in it and loved it. Location wise it is great with it only being a short drive to Saumur where you can purchase some of the best fizz the Loire has to offer. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

Just returned from a week at 'La Terrasse' in Phils La Roultiere 'cluster' of gites. It was a lovely location on the outskirts of the very peaceful village of Breil. The gites are clean, well equipped and spacious enough to make your own 'home' for a week. We have 2 young kids, both of which insisted on bringing their own bikes in the car, only to ride around the complex on Phil's numerous hire bikes all week! There is a trampoline, swings etc and our gite even had kids toys in the cupboards so actually we could have saved quite a bit of room in our car. Phil (the owner) was friendly and attentive when required and a simple message board for not urgent enquiries or a phone call away for more pressing issues. We had none by the way! Breil is tiny but Noyant is about a 5 minute drive which has the usual petrol station, TABAC, supermarket etc plus a Friday market. A local chateau (La Lathan) is on the outskirts of the village and worth a €3 visit. You are a short drive away from Parcay Le Pins which has an English owned / run restaurant and music nights and also in the same direction are the lakes in Hommes and Rille with the beach and water sports and the inflatable assault course for kids on the lake (my sons' favourite part of the whole trip so thoroughly recommend). A little further is La Lude, La Fleche which are larger and just delightful. Then around 45 minutes you have the larger town/cities of Saumur, Tours and Angers. So you pretty much have everything you'd need to experience the delights of the Loire Valley within an hour from very comfortable and VFM accommodation. I'd thoroughly recommend staying here and would definitely return.

A lovely collection of gites, run by Phil who is very attentive and helpful and provides nice touches to the stay including a great communal BBQ and tractor/4x4 ride which the kids (and adults!) enjoyed very much. We staying in La Fermette which was very spacious, lovely living space, comfortably furnished and perfect for one or two families. The seating area overlooking the fields was wonderful for watching the sun set. The other facilities are very good, including bikes for use to riding into Breil in for morning bread/pastries or visiting the local chateau, and the swimming pool was an absolute winner. Safely fenced and gated, with loads of loungers and lots of space in the water for pool games and cooling down. A good base for exploring the chateaux and banks of the Loire, but be prepared for a 20/30 min drive to get to the bigger towns of Saumur etc. Quick 5 min drive to nearest supermarche and the boulangerie in Breil also had some essential supplies. A lovely place for a relaxing break! Thanks to Phil for your hospitality.

We had a great week at La Roultiere in July. Very comfortable accommodation, lovely setting, plenty of outdoor seating and dining and a very nice pool. Phil and his son are great hosts - weekly BBQ is recommended, as is off road driving. This property is excellent value for money.

We had a lovely week at La Roultiere, staying in Fermette with our 6yo, 4yo and baby. The house was clean, spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. Nice shady eating area for bbqs at the back. The pool is great (refreshingly cold on our very hot week) and the kids loved playing boules and having a tractor ride with Phil. Also liked bike rides to get the morning croissants in the village, table football in the games barn, lizard-spotting and playing with Meg. We really liked the Sunday night communal bbq which worked well to get the families together and our kids had great fun with their holiday friends. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit to la Roultier and we couldn't fault it. We stayed in Grenier which was lovely and spacious with a wonderful terrace overlooking the open counrtyside. If it were too hot to sit on the terrace we had a great table/seating area below next to the BBQ which was under the shade of grape vines. We are a family of 5 including 3 children aged 5,5 & 7. The other gites had families with children of a similar age and they all enjoyed playing with each other in the wonderful grounds which housed a trampoline, swings, see saws, sand pit, boules pitch. On the first evening Phil hosted a BBQ for all, which was great to get to know the other guests. The swimming pool was a huge hit for us all and one of the highlights was Phil taking all the children (and a few of the adults) on a tractor and truck ride on the last day. Lots to do in the local area. Will definitely return at the next available opportunity

This was our second stay at La Roultiere . We stayed in Le Grange which would originally have been the farm house . It is spacious and tastefully decorated in a French style. The location is beautiful and quiet. There are lots of things for the children to do. We had 3 under 8 and they were kept entertained by the pool, trampoline, table tennis, table football and throwing the ball for Meg the collie. There is a bakers in the town that is fantastic. I recommend le bouf t'ard in hommes for a bargain meal and huttiopia down the road in rille for peddelos on the lake.

I've always holidayed in France starting in childhood, however I have always picked sites owned by the French which have been remote and just for our family. In 2014 I branched out as we wanted the use of a pool. I found La Roultiere from a google search, the bits that drew me where the pool and the fact that akin to Center Parcs the cars stay at the gate so the kids can roam the 7 acres without a worry. I was a little concerned that there were 5 gites, and it was run by a Brit and they would be there too. Well, what can I say? This year is our third summer with Phil and Meg (the dog), we absolutely love it. We have met some of the same people, also returning, and will meet some more this year. Each property has a private BBQ and seating area so if you want to stay as a family then that is fine, or if you fancy a bottle of wine and cheese after dinner with others that is also fine. Our kids are now 10 and 4 and it has been just perfect for them, they request that we return! It has the best bakery nearby for morning croissants, a beautiful restaurant Le Moulin Bleu, (the blue windmill) that sits at the top of the hill overlooking the vineyards of Chinon, local markets and the grounds of a chateau that you can hand feed the deer your left over french stick. Downsides? For day trips it is a good hour to get to Amboise, Chateau and vineyards however this is easily out weighed by the benefits. If you want to stay at the site all day that is also fine as the kids just love to play/swim. There is a trampoline, table tennis, sand pits, boules and ride on toys for toddlers. Phil is always happy to help, wifi has improved and is now excellent in every gite, all the properties are well equipped and it really is a home from home - and if you are stuck it is easily rectified. On Fridays Phil has now started an 'activities day' although I know this was instigated just for us as I love tractors and I got to drive it! The kids loved having a ride in the trailer plus getting the 4x4 out and turning the empty lake into an off road track up and down all the bumps. Brilliant, a real highlight. So in short if you have kids from zero to mid teens then this really is a relaxing break, great value for money, with lots to see and do for all the family. We can't recommend it highly enough.

We had a really lovely relaxing fortnight here with our 3 and 5 year old. House was great and had everything we required. Children were over the moon with the pool (occasionally chilly but always swimable in). They also had full entertainment from the large amount of space around the gites - including table tennis, trampoline, swings, space to play football, badminton, sandpit - shall I go on?! They also met other children so we had plenty of time to read and relax in the sunshine. Do the cloudy days there are great day trips near by.
