Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wow wow wow, what can I say. This place was so lovely. The welcome from Dawn and her mum was superb, great fun and the food. The food was home made and just lovely. I haven’t tasted food like this for such a long time. It had lots of taste, there was lots of it and we all cleared our plates. The pudding was absolutely lovely, can’t wait to go back xx

It was my husbands birthday. Dawn, John, Sarah and Mrs C were as always welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We had mussels and prawns for starters and filet steak and smoked cod for mains with all the trimmings. What can I say other than 10 out of 10. This hidden gem is definitely worth visiting. Even a dessert with a sparkler at the end with a chorus of Happy birthday 🎂

Won't be going again, the staff were lovely but we ordered two drinks and sat down at a table only to be asked to move a while later on as the table had been reserved. No reserved sign on the table, it confirmed the thoughts we already had that we wouldn't be returning.

It always amazes me when someone gives a 1 rating especially when the only issue here is you were politely asked to move your table as we had a call for a table of 5 who had to eat in the bar because they had a dog. As you stated the staff were lovely and you are of course allowed an opinion

Always made to feel like 'family' when visiting this family run pub, food is top-notch, even when I order something not on the menu (2 slices of toast and sliced tomato 😀), staff always happy to help and friendly. No other place I'd rather be on a Saturday afternoon

Stopped here for lunch on our Offa’s Dyke Walk, conveniently located just off the path. Nice main room, and the jacket potato and toasties were quite good. Small minuses for not having sour cream or strong mustard, rather big minus for the bathroom.

We recently had an evening meal with friends here. The family run business was very comfortable and the food was of an excellent standard especially the desert I had. There is a very comfortable marquee in the garden which mine host offered us to use. There is a very latge car park behind the premises

We have been eating at The Dolphin for many years now and have never had a bad meal. The food is all delicious! Great portion sizes and beautifully presented. The steak is consistently the best steak I have ever had anywhere else. The landlords and staff are welcoming and friendly and the pub/restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere. This is an excellent, family run pub!

In March we had booked a dinner table via email for Sat 6th May - we were walking the Shropshire Way and as we had no car wanted to ensure we had an evening meal arranged. I received confirmation of this booking by email from John Turner. He requested a phone number - I provided my mobile by return email. On the Sat morning we happened to pass the pub and saw a rather scrappy notice on the pub door which when my husband unfolded it, we saw it said no food. I immediately emailed to ask if that meant there was no food that evening. Getting no reply we called, left a message and then called several times during the morning. We finally got through at ~12:30 to be told that the lady had no record of our booking, they had had no bookings for weeks and in any case there was no food as they were away at a wedding. Fortunately the Bradford Arms did have a table and we had a lovely meal there. Whilst anyone can make a mistake, I fully expected a subsequent reply to the email sent that morning with a profuse apology. However, I got no reply at all.

It was unfortunate your booking was missed and it’s one of the reasons we don’t accept bookings on line. At the time I confirmed, my daughter hadn’t booked her wedding and it was on the 6th of may. Any other circumstances we would have been cooking on that day and feed you. The reason I didn’t reply via email is because I didn’t even look at my phone on such a fabulous day. It is such a shame you gave us a one rating purely on a miscommunication considering you had ample time to find somewhere to dine. As we are a small family run pub who try their hardest to make everybody’s experience with us a memorable one the whole family attended the wedding therefore no one to answer the phone before 12:30.
