In the heart of medieval Transylvania, few miles to Viscri, Saschiz, Sighisoara, we restored an old Saxon house. In order to keep the intimacy of the house we have only four rooms for guests (each one has a bathroom). The meals, cooked mainly with organic vegetables from our garden, wild fruits, and local farm products are accompanied with great Transylvanian wines. Activities: local tours, visit Saxon heritage by carriage, hiking, bicycle or by car, watch animals or birds, become friend with the bees and much more.

Our favourite accomodation in Tranaylvania! Dreamy design and garden, delicious home made good and wonderful hosts! We discovered Casa cu Zorele years ago and returned when we needed a break in a green oasis. The place is also conveiently located on Via Transilvanica, close to Viscri and Mesendorf

THE PLACE 4.5/5 These are two nicely renovated traditional romanian saxon's households. The place is relaxing, the inner courtyards maintain their rural flavor, and the owners' overall care for the premises is obvious. We had a very large room, with comfortable beds and a simple design that tries to evoke a traditional Romanian interior. The houses are situated in a quiet area of the village. I might be too demanding here but the authentic traditional design concept was not taken as far as one expects reading the online descriptions and reviews...It goes well for the main household with the restaurant area, but in the rooms one finds beautiful vintage furniture (either original or nicely crafted in a similar fashion) beside cheap decorations, and the bathroom is mostly what you would find in most Romanian accommodations, no more traditional design (or any design), tame finishings and objects (with the exception of the sink counter). It isn't bothering, but travelling through other villages and checking venues in the similar category lets one see that there is still room to improve here. BREAKFAST 3/5 The breakfast was quite generous, although it lacked variety and wasn't well suited for vegetarians or people looking for a lighter day-starter. We had expected products were really from the local farms (and some were, like honey, bread, etc.) but were surprised to get tasteless tomatoes like those in any supermarket, and same with cheese and cold meats. Overall the breakfast does not entirely fit in the 'high-end rural/traditional tourism' category the venue claims. COFFEE AND TEA 2/5 If you are a little bit into quality coffee, you need to find another place to drink your morning booster. Here they serve poor filter coffee, with a burnt, cardboard, overextracted taste and tea-like texture. Again, given the claimed tourism profile of the venue, we had expected a variety of herbal infusions that Romanians traditionally brew all over the country (chamomile, mint, hardhay, jasmine, and so on can easily be picked out or bought from local villagers who pick and dry these herbs anyway) , but were surprised to only be given the options of cheap tea-bags that one finds in any store. DINNER 5/5 Excellent food, well cooked, large meals! The wine and spirits are of great quality. The only downside was that they only served dinner beginning with 19.30 (we wish there was a little bit of flexibility here), and given the rich menu (two courses plus dessert), it was a little bit too much food too late in the afternoon for us, but that might suit other people's eating habits. HOSTS AND SERVICE 5/5 The hosts are really nice people, we especially enjoyed Mr. Tibi's politeness and sense of humor, he has a natural way of making people feel comfortable and welcome and is a great story teller, also knowing to listen to his guests and offer room for others to participate in conversations. OVERALL 4/5 A relaxing, wonderful rural experience, in a culturally rich area of the country, with great service and delicious, abundant meals. Breakfast and coffe/tea were disappointing for us given the expected authenticity and 'ruralness', and the interior design could receive more attention and cultural consistency here and there.…

This is a beautifully renovated house in a very quiet position in the village, The room I had was huge, overlooking the yard in the main house, sun came through the window in the afternoon which made it very light and airy. Lovely big walk in shower room. Mihaela and Tibi were perfect hosts even providing hot water to make tea in the afternoon, such a treat. Food was excellent from home made jams, local honey and delicious home made yogurt for breakfast, dinners were superb.

An authentic and personal rural experience with wonderful host! The landlady is an excellent cook and a very magnetic, pleasant person. The landlord is a very good guide for the surroundings and conversion is also a pleasure with him. The atmosphere is relaxed and cosy. Probably the best choice when in Criț or around there.

The absolute joy and love hosts Tibi and Mihaela have sharing their beautifully restored properties is contagious the moment one is greeted outside their gate. The delicious meals could not be more local- organic bounties from Mihaela's gardens, the neighbors cows and happy bees. Each morning, Tibi sat with us on the terrace and made wonderful suggestions for discovery. When the drinks were not home made, Tibi proudly showcased the best of Transylvania's wines. Highest point: In my wanderings through Budepest, Serbia and Romania- I had given up my quest for strudel like Grandma made: crispy on the outside, sweet tart apples on the inside. Mihaela- I will be back for your best ever strudel! Thank you! (Radical: huge THANKS for finding discrete ways to add screens to some windows!)…

What a gem! Staying at this lovely place, soaking up the serenity of the countryside, and feasting upon the delicious food made our short stay into a truly memorable experience and one of the highlights on our time in Transylvania. This lovingly restored home is inviting and comfortable. The owners truly care about making your stay a pleasant one. Fresh ingredients go into every dish and we enjoyed conversation, as well as the local wine, while we watched cows make their way home. An idyllic spot — wish we had a longer stay!

Our travel agent arranged us to spend an evening at this rural bed and breakfast. Mihaela greeted us like she was, in fact, thrilled to see us. Our rooms were spacious and clean, with high quality linens and well appointed private bathrooms. Our travel agent assured us that dinner would be a treat, and indeed it was! To say these folks are self sufficient is an understatement. I do not know of anything they served that was store bought. We were all poured a glass of a delightful white wine, a blend of Sauvignon blanc and Muscat made by friends of the hosts. Mihaela served a first course with thinly sliced and grilled eggplant, followed by her version of Hungarian Peprikash. The peprikash which was a particular hit with all of the guests. Dessert followed, although I am not much of a dessert eater, so I passed. The next morning, I got up well before breakfast. I readily accepted a few cups of coffee (okay, they probably did not grow and roast their own coffee) while I read my email and caught up on the happenings in the world. We then used the couples' mountain bikes and took a little jaunt to a neighboring village before returning for breakfast. That meal included more coffee, homemade yogurt, homegrown tomatoes, omelets, homemade cheese, milk from the neighbor's cow-but pasteurized here, apricots (homegrown of course), and grape juice from the grapes grown on the property. I think the local grocers must hate these folks! You cannot find nicer hosts and this was among the best food we enjoyed in Transylvania.…

We tried to book ourselves a place in Viscri but everything was full up during the May bank holiday weekend - I am so glad it was, because it made us expand our search and we hit upon this outstanding house in Crit- which is an easy drive from Viscri and Sighisoara. The hosts, Tibi and Mihaela, are very warm and gracious (even presenting my daughter with a jar of her homemade jam when we left) and it is clear that their house is a labour of their love. Everything has been renovated using 18th century technology to give you a very genuine feel of how things must have looked then - however, modern creature comforts are not overlooked either. The dinners were all home cooked, traditional and delicious as was the wine and the home-made tuica/palinca. Couldn't ask for more. A truly unforgettable experience.…

There are 2 locations, Casa cu Zorele and Crit 50, with 4 rooms each. We stayed in Crit 50 where there are 4 individual houses sharing the same courtyard. Each house consists of one large room and ensuite bathroom. 3 rooms have 1 queen bed and 1 single bed, while the 4th room is a twin one. All of them are nicely decorated, keeping the charm of old times, but fully functional and comfortable, good bed and quality sheets, hot water, perfect room temperature thanks to an ingenious stove running on wood. The village is very quiet and beautiful, with traditional architecture and the surroundings provide many attractions like fortified churches, Viscri village, Sighisoara etc. But the best part of our stay was the food, wine and the atmosphere created by the welcoming hosts, Mihaela and Tibi. All in, a very nice experience, we will come back in summer!…
