In the heart of medieval Transylvania, few miles to Viscri, Saschiz, Sighisoara, we restored an old Saxon house. In order to keep the intimacy of the house we have only four rooms for guests (each one has a bathroom). The meals, cooked mainly with organic vegetables from our garden, wild fruits, and local farm products are accompanied with great Transylvanian wines. Activities: local tours, visit Saxon heritage by carriage, hiking, bicycle or by car, watch animals or birds, become friend with the bees and much more.

Our favourite accomodation in Tranaylvania! Dreamy design and garden, delicious home made good and wonderful hosts! We discovered Casa cu Zorele years ago and returned when we needed a break in a green oasis. The place is also conveiently located on Via Transilvanica, close to Viscri and Mesendorf

As there are not many recent reviews, I wanted just to let you know that Casa cu Zorele, and Mihaela and Tiberiu did not change since the previous reviews, so I warmly recommend the place.

I want to add that pets are allowed, and mine had an excellent stay there.

First, if you need the full "comfort" of a modern hotel, this house is not for you. You have no TV in a room, but you have marvelous hosts and fantastic atmosphere. The food is delicious and home-made. You can really taste the country-side life in Romania as it use to be, but with a well-provided personal bathroom :) The owners are charming, well educated and very helpful, and we spent a great evening discussing with them during dinner. Also, this B&B can be a good base to explore on your own some of the UNESCO-listed fortified churches of Transylvania, or the surroundings (Viscri, Sighisoara, Biertan, Saschiz, etc). All in all, a delightful experience.

I've booked 2 days at the beginning of June, but I've stayed only one night in the end because the room was very cold and we were not allowed to make fire in the stove. The houses-Casa cu Zorele and Crit 50 - nicely restored keeping the original elements like wood and some other stuff, but some decorative elements are kitsch.
The owners are inflexible: e.g. if you are late for dinner you will not eat, they don't like you to touch the decorative elements in the dining room. They don't adapt at the guests needs.
The food was ok (they are using chicken meat from the supermarket) and plenty.
The prices are very high taking into consideration the offer and the authoritarian style of the lady managing the house. I want to mention that they are not very happy with children.
So, for me was the first and the last stay at this location.

Response from Tibi_Ghita, Owner at Casa cu Zorele
Responded 7 Jun 2014
Thank you for your comments and we are very glad that you understood that: The Terms & Conditions (check-in/check-out time, hours of meals, cancelation terms) once accepted before the booking, have to be respected by both parties; During the meals, the old dinning room, where all our guest eat, cannot be transformed in a playground for children screaming and running; The decorations objects cannot be transformed in children's toys. Yes, from time to time the summer nights could be cooler than usual. Unfortunately, we cant' made the fire in the stoves during the summer. We have never hidden that some ingredients of the meals are from supermarket. Unfortunately, the local economy do not produce everything we need. Thank you again for your review.

My husband and I spent a fantastic weekend at Casa cu Zorele in the Saxon village of Crit. This old house has been nicely renovated offering spacious and very confortable rooms. Breakfast and dinner were simply delicious and served at our convenience. Mihaela and Tibi, the owners, were amazing hosts making sure we enjoyed our stay. At request, they can organize a variety of activities in the surroundings areas. Tibi took us on the hiking trail to Mesendorf where a new bike trail will be open soon. We highly recommend this place, not only for its location and relaxed enviroment, but for the superb service!

Casa cu Zorele was an amazing experience. From the first welcome to the last good-bye wave, we found Mihaela and TB to be kind, charming, wonderful hosts. Mihaelas' cooking was delectable (even according to our 15 year old) and TB's wealth of knowledge kept us entertained and informed. The property is historic, with all of the modern comforts; impeccably clean, comfortable and relaxing. The region is worth a visit and this home the perfect place to stay. We look forward to returning!

We booked a Christmas package (4 nights) at Casa cu zorele and were charmed right away by the hosts. They are a wonderful couple with a very inspiring story of career changing. As far as I could see they run the place almost by themselves. The building is nicely restored and some of the pieces of furniture are as old as the house. We received plenty of information about the region and about the history of the place.
The food is traditional and made of local ingredients. The breakfast is delicious, with, for example, home-made butter, yogurt, and jams.
Unfortunately 2 of the 3 rooms that we booked were cold and there was hardly any hot water. During the night in one of the rooms - the larger one - the temperature was uncomfortably low, we slept with extra pullovers on.
To sum up, it is a nice place, the hosts have done a wonderful job transforming an old house into a charming B&B, but they should pay more attention to details. We ended up leaving after one night.

The place is quiet and comfortable, the food is nice if you arrive in due time to dinner. The lady of the house is quite an authoritarian, she doesn't like people too much but she is at least polite. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the honey maker from the village.

Room with a tiled stove & simple beautiful wooden furniture, genuine food, great wine, ‘Ţuică’ (romanian spirit traditionally made of fruits) that Tiberiu was bringing and pouring before we started eating, Mihaela (what a cook & what a great courage to follow her dreams!) who was describing dishes with sparks in her eyes about how she made it & what are the ingredients, cats that our daughter was chasing passionately, people we had a chance to meet by the table. Will never forget this moment: silence, sitting on the porch with wine, chatting, listening to the sound of horse’s hooves pulling the cart…
We love Romania like that.
Ps. From Crit were ‘Casa cu zorele’ is located we took a trip by car to Viscri (must), Sighisoara (must), Mesendorf, Bunesti, Cloasterf (calm villages with fortified churches, unfortunately during our visit were closed/under renovation).

“I slept like a stone” was a new idiom I learned, presumably from the Hungarian.

This pension is perfection: an oasis of exquisite, gourmet food in a Saxon village, preserved in aspic. The whole is with that old-worldly, Hungarian charm and sophistication.

My dietary requirements were met with distinction and soup (potato & tarragon), stuffed vine leaves and apple pie/cake were 5*****.

A bedroom with 18th (?) century fitments, crisp, white linen and lotsa hot water (on a strangely bouncy shower tray) completed the excellent ensemble.

Hi, something is missing from the comment. Yes, the price is 90 Euro/double room, but the price includes not only the breakfast but the dinner too (you can see our web page), a glass of wine and a glass of our national drink, tuica. Best regards, Mihaela Ghita
