Detailed Reviews
Authentic and stylishly renovated by the owner, Mrs.Mihaela, we felt at home. The yellow room was very nice refurbished, comfortable and quiet The hospitality with which we were welcomed in the special dining room and the DELICIOUS dishes prepared with local products and fresh vegetables directly from the garden of the house, will definitely make us come back. We strongly recommend it.

The first thing that comes into my mind when I think back about our staying in August at this place is respect. In order to find the right property and to properly push the button on the doorbell me and my wife had to check the house number on several porches in the neighbourhood: our house had nothing to make it stand out in any way against all other houses on the street and everything to be in complete and absolute stylistic respect with its vicinity.
We eventually managed to step into our courtyard. There we’ve met our host and got to know the perimeter a little bit, stepping on the bright green grass which we were still to find that can get even brighter in early mornings.
At night, the hard-working tractor engines on the hilltops stopped, clearing the air for the cattle cowbells, the crickets and some lazy dog barks in the distance. All benches on the street porches have been cleared by now. The only pulse you feel is the one of the early night stars shining on a crystal clear blue sky.
Everything we were to feel from our first night on — the taste of food, the smell of wood, the vibrant sun on the so many all around colours, the kindnesse and discretion of the people around us and the refinement of our host — all that we do and do not get to describe here will stay with us in the most authentically pleasant memory in a holiday we had so far.
Convivium Transilvania is not the place to drop all clothes for a good old briefs-only sunbathe next to a large pool. This is not the treat to be looking for in here. Should you consider experiencing a genuine rural clean life cure in a Saxon house, well... at this place it may very well be as good as it gets.

We traveled as a family group of four adults by plane from Amsterdam to Bucharest, then by rental car from Bucharest to Crit. On the way we bought fresh chantarelle mushrooms from a roadside seller. The convivium is a wonderfully restored saxon farmhouse, we were given large rooms, each with their own bathroom and separate sitting room, tastefully decorated with antique farmer furniture. The charm of the place is that there are so many place where you can sit and enjoy the views of the vegetable garden, the village and the fields. Our host Michaela took us for a walk in the village and discussed the program with us. She had cooked an amazing dinner with local products, we talked a lot and we found we have a lot of ideas about natural food in common. Over the next four days, Michaela showed us around the region, we learned so much from her extensive knowledge of the history. All the time were either collecting or buying and cooking local food together and then eating it. The mushrooms and the fruits were fantastic, so was the meat. I think I gained 3-4 pounds in the process. I woke up every day at 06.00 AM to go out for long birding walks around the village. The landscape is amazing with its rolling hills, meadows full of flowers, streams and forests, full of birds and wildlife. It was a most wonderful holiday. Highly recommended!

We booked a room at Convivium based on the reviews, wishing to have a short brake and enjoy the nature. First of all, when we came, the yard was full of cars, with no places left to enjoy the sun or have a short walk. The room was nicely decorated, but it had spiderwebs and insects on the walls (same for the hallways). The pillows were very small and uncomfortable. We also had dinner - overpriced for the food offered and its quantity. The breakfast was a joke- 2 small recipients of jam (approx. 2 spoons), filter coffee, 3 slices of cheese per person, few slices of salami and grocery youghourt - Danone. The lady offered to make some eggs way to late - when we were eating jam.
Moreover, Crit is so overrated - there is garbage all over, there were kids on the streets who asked us money, the peasants direct the manure in front of the houses and, thus, a strong smell is in the air all the time.

We were in a short hollyday with the family and a small child for what was supposed to be an authentically transilvania experience with fresh food from the garden and also suited for small children, but it wasn’t like this: the food was tasty enough, but not from the private garten but bought from supermarket ( the bread icluded, even if you have a bakery in the village) and nothing to eat for a small child. The wifi is only in the dinnig room, an not in the rooms even if it’s said you have it everywhere. The rooms were dirty, i won’t start to describe ( pitty for the potential of the house). -The baby chair was during our stay not only once cleand! The land lady is sort of nice but pretty greedy and you just receive few light and no warming even if you need it. It’s sad, because the potential is quite big and could be a nice location. I don’t recommend it for families with small children.

Overpriced, toilets have a tendancy to smell (you can feel it from the room, too). Heating hours are not compliant with the temperature outside (we frize to death in the first and last night of our stay). Food is good, the lady is quite nice and helpful. Otherwise, nice painted furniture, spacious rooms, clean comfortable bed. It was not that bad, but will try something different next time.

I never thought my interest and love of cooking, culture and people, could come together into a Zesty, Tasty vacation filled with laughter with people I've never met before.
The drive to the place was a transormation from industrial to the country side, with a changing scenery that made me smile and breath the freshest air in a long time.
Then came the heartwarming welcome by the owner together with a group of guests I met for the first time in my life but will stay friends forever.
The cooking workshop and tours around was a great joy of knowledge and taste. Bringing memories of the past (the notion that I'm cooking like my great grandparents did not too far from here a 120 years ago).
Meeting people who are making a heavenly cheese in the meddow nearbye and in the village, raising their own fruits and vegetables in old methods and giving a helping hand to one another while discovering the history and beauty of the place and area with the host.
The Tzoyka and local wine added to the taste and conversation, as well as the walks in the clean air roads of the village and wonderful country side to nearby Unesco Herritage sites.
I'm looking forward for my next time there.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the people of Crit.

The real Transylvanian experience starting from the location that is a typical Saxon farmhouse restructured with perfect taste, on to the food that is prepared respecting the original recipes, only with local ingredients some from the location’s garden. A special thank you to Michaela the perfect host that follows you with suggestions and advices that will make your holiday a total success!

The property is amazing! Renovated beautifully from a Saxon old property, gave us the experience of going back in time. Traditional and comfortable in the same time, peaceful and in a beautiful surrounding. Each room has a unique set up of old furniture meant to be in a museum. We enjoyed having our coffee in the court yard that has plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy as loggias and terraces. Splendid views everywere.
We had plenty of activities to choose from and many historical attractions to visit. Perfect vacation!

This is a quiet, warm and welcoming guesthouse in a quaint German village in the heart of Transylvania, in Romania. It is surrounded by forested hills, hiking and biking trails, and many other quaint villages, including the already famous Viscri village, where prince Charles himself has a vacation home. A particularity of the region are the well preserved fortified churches, many of which are UNESCO world heritage sites, and date back to the 12th and 13th centuries. There are also the medieval towns of Sighisoara, Sibiu, Mediaş, Braşov, and the well preserved fortresses of Rupea and Făgăraş, all within approx 1h drive.
We spent our honey-week here, and would go back anytime. The house is furnished and decorated in the local traditional style of the German ethnics that populated the region until the early 90s, the food is entirely locally sourced, and the host has a passion for collecting traditional recipes from the region, and spoiling the guests with a different one every night. Everything from the organic butter and homegrown vegetables, to the locally baked bread, to the homemade berry preserves, and traditionally cooked meats and soups, will remain in our memory for a long time!
Strongly recommended! :-)
