Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I stayed for one night to break the journey down to a job on the south coast.
I was warmly welcomed by Trevor and I was initially pleased with the room, which had recently been refurbished.
However, the television didn't work - it just showed the message "Weak or no signal". Trevor brought another aerial lead but that didn't help. I did say I wasn't overly concerned, for one night, but no other option was offered.
I slept well but general noise from the upstairs room woke me early - it was only the guest walking about, but it reverberated down. I would suggest asking for a room on the top floor to avoid this. There was no other noise, either from inside or outside the hotel.
And then the shower curtain. It was pretty dirty. Mould along the bottom edge and dirty hand marks at each end. These really need regular washing and they are obviously not getting it. As the prices at Travelodge edge ever closer to (and sometimes exceed) Premier Inn, these are factors that can no longer be acceptable, but cleanliness seems to always be a gamble at Travelodges. The rest of the bathroom and bedroom were acceptably clean and the shower was very good.
Location of the lodge, on the services, means access to Burger King, Costa, Greggs and others, so food and drink is catered for. It's a bit of a dark and dangerous walk across the HGV entrance to get to the main building, but you could always jump back into the car and drive.
Parking is free, if you register at reception.

Arrived for a weekend away and met the helpful receptionist who kindly asked if we wanted to be upgraded to a refurbished room at no extra cost which of course we accepted. All the receptionist were extremely polite over the weekend and as we arrived in our room we found it well ventilated with a fan. The room was well done up with black out curtains (very helpful) and lots of little extras, the bed was comfy and there was no noise, i was very impressed and will definitely go back thank you.

Katie and Wioleta were extremely helpful, and even offered us a cooler downstairs room and bottles of water on what was a very warm night. Surprisingly, we didn’t hear much road noise and the bed was king size and comfortable. Also, because it was near the motorway instead of a town, the price was much cheaper, so we will definitely be looking at Travelodge for an overnight stay again.

I booked this hotel as it was on the way to Cornwall and was the cheapest I found (The ones nearer to Salisbury or Bristol was at least double the price i paid £38.99 inc wifi) I wasn't expecting anything special as I knew it was just going to be overnight.
But I must say I was very impressed, it is a excellent location quieter than I thought it would be, found parking close to Hotel at about 4.30pm and room, hotel and staff all good.
If we are ever going that way again and need to stop overnight or longer, I will defitnitley choose this hotel.

Rang the hotel before trip and from that point June was reassuring and welcoming. On arrival Trevor and June were helpful and friendly. The hotel and room were notably clean. The room was large with 2 seats and a seating area
The local pub olde red lion was great for an evening meal and only a mile and a half away but there are all the usual options on the services
The room was perfectly quiet and we could open the windows enough
Decent shower and towels and the breakfast box was very handy

Straightforward hotel no frills but bare necessities.
Katie was pleasant and very helpful considering our family has two very small children with my wife attending full day trainings. She(Katie) offered an early check-in (at a fee), a hand with our luggage both on arrival and departure. Then further offered Late checkout.

The staff in general were very nice and were interactive with our ever friendly toddler who greets everyone.

The Chieveley Travelodge is a perfect place to stay for a night or two, very clean and comfortable with all the basic stuff you need. It’s two minutes walk to the big service station, so it’s easy to get food or go for a tea or coffee. They also have their own breakfast service in the hotel

Not normally a fan of Travelodge but location and value for money were hard to ignore and I was pleasantly surprised. Although on the junction with the M4 I didn’t hear traffic from my room. Car park was very full although I did get a space and some “pipe noise” in the night which disturbed my sleep a little. Would definitely stay again

Travelodge itself standard Travelodge really. Cheap & cheerful.
Be careful though if planning to charge an EV during your stay, currently only 3 chargers, 2 rapid & 1x 7kW, more being built. However, these are by the services building so not covered by the free parking of the hotel, meaning you can only charge for 2 hours before paying heavily for parking. This is a shame as I was hoping to arrive late and let the car slow charge overnight but had to sit in and rapid charge instead a bit frustrating.

I arrived at about 11.30pm on Sunday night and was welcomed by Jodie (with an ie (important!) Considering she had just started a night shift she was the most welcoming, bubbly person you could wish to meet. I had two small issues that were dealt with immediately and efficiently. An absolute joy at the end of a very long journey.
In the morning Anthony was on reception. I had a couple of questions for him that were answered brilliantly. Again a great personality to be assisting your customers and guests.
These members of staff should be congratulated. They are both an asset to your business. Well done.
In respect of the facilities, I had a wonderful nights sleep and considering the hotel was full it was amazing not to hear any other guests departing early the next day.
I will be back soon.
Thank you.
