Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked 2 nights at the Blue Bell Inn for a wedding at Newton Hall. Amazing little B&B and Chloe is a fantastic host! We received email communication from Chloe before our stay, and she gave us a local contact to arrange a local taxi to and from the wedding venue. On arrival, we parked right outside the Inn, and Chloe greeted us and showed us to our rooms. Great ensuite rooms with hairdryer, fresh towels, TV, tea, coffee, kettle etc..with more available if needed. There was even an iron and ironing board upstairs if needed..it was! The family room had a doule and single bed with plenty of pillows , the beds were really comfortable, and we had 2 great nights sleep. Breakfast was a lovely continental style with plenty of choice with fresh toast, boiled eggs, tea, coffee, fresh orange juice, and a vast array of pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cheeses, cereals and meats. The little village was lovely, with a small farm shop, golf club and local pub. We had a 10 min walk to the beach, which was stunning! I would definitely recommend the Blue Bell inn.

We arrived a little early and found that the room wasn’t quite ready so we went for a look around the area. When we arrived back, Anna could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We were upgraded to the Nook, a one bedroom apartment which was very fortunate as most of the local restaurants were fully booked so we cooked for ourselves. The breakfast the next day far surpassed what we were both expecting from a continental (fresh fruits, meats, cheeses, yoghurts etc) and Anna even offered us bacon sandwiches. Cannot express how impressed we were with her hospitality and friendliness.

No one at all there to greet customers the bar was closed, no other customers there. We were told by whoever runs this place that it is open at 5:00pm rubbish we left at 7:00pm to go to an evening wedding bash still closed. Continental breakfast was supposedto be available 09:00am till 09:30am NO and still no one there we left at 09:15am. Give it a miss for service, we are supposed to be getting a refund for this, watch this space.🤔😂

We were walking along the northeast coast for 4 days starting off in Alnwick and Embleton was our first overnight stay. The Bluebell Inn is a lovely little hotel run by the amazing Anna who couldn't do enough for us during our stay. The continental breakfast the next morning would put some big hotels to shame with the choice available as would the delicious evening meal the night before. A very friendly hotel which we will definitely be returning to soon.

Drove past all week and decided on the Friday afternoon to call in for a quick pint. We were greeted by the owner’s mum who was incredibly friendly and very, very welcoming. We ordered a round of drinks and sat outside in the late afternoon sun where she joined us for a lovely chat explaining all the local places to visit. Thoroughly enjoyed our chat and drink and cannot remember the last time we were made so welcome in a pub. Top drawer and would recommend to anyone to visit.

We booked 1 week in advance to make sure we had somewhere to eat after a 5 hour drive staying in Embleton at the start of our holiday. We arrived to the Blue Bell 15 minutes before our meal time to be told that they had run our of food. In fact the bar man pointed it that the people sitting in the corner were eating the last meal, so the chef had gone home. No apology, no interest, only rude indifference. They had my mobile number so could have called to let us know, but nothing. Stay clear to avoid disappointment and bad service.

Chloe the Manager was very helpful following booking.com mess up by not booking the accommodation that we paid for with them. Booking.com are a joke!!!! We were able to stay one night comfortable and friendly. At the moment no restaurant at Blue Bell Inn. Advise phone Chloe direct at the Inn.

Called in last minute for a family meal, the lady and man were the owners parents and they couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. Beautiful decor, the food was better than 5*, they were fantastic with our young children. They made adjustments to fit 12 of us in at short notice. I will be recommending this place to anyone I speak to and my husband and I will be returning again definitely.

Really pleasant staff, very family friendly, they were especially nice to our young daughter when we went there for our evening meal whilst holidaying nearby.

Food was great and the most reasonably priced in Embleton. The chef was very accommodating with the children’s options too.

There’s also a great playground just opposite the pub too.

They recently changed ownership so are no longer an Italian restaurant, so ignore menus online which refer to pizzas etc.

We had a lovely stay for our anniversary, the room was immaculate and the area was just so peaceful and tranquil. The restaurant (sambuca) was not open yet after the pandemic but was going to open the next day and the menu looked great and very authentic Italian! Laura the owner has some big ideas and I am sure she will succeed. We were made very welcome and I am certain we will be back to try out that lovely food.
