Travellers' Choice
If you are looking for a quieter beach style holiday we have the place for you! Located 1/2 mile from Brean Leisure Park right next to the beach at Brean Sands you will have a private access route to the five miles of golden sandy beaches that run from Brean Down to Burnham on Sea. Take a romantic walk and enjoy the sunset at dusk, or just take a casual walk and enjoy the scenery which includes brean down, steepholm island, and other local points of interest. You can even follow the nearby nature trail through the sand dunes. Why not take your fishing rod with you and try out some sea fishing, or for the less adventurous you could just buy an ice cream and unwind.

Booked Golden Sands for a long weekend for my partners 30th birthday after seeing the site on This Morning. We arrived just after our check in time of 3pm and was greeted by the warden who showed us to our lodge- Keys and welcome pack were waiting for us in the lodge which meant no long queues at reception, which was appreciated given the current circumstances . The warden( sorry didn’t catch his name!) was very friendly and welcoming and showed us the lodge and how the hot tub worked. We had booked the Mendip plus lodge and I was so impressed with the quality. It was a very comfortable, well equipped luxury lodge with the hot tub being the icing on the cake! The hot tub was located at the back of the lodge which meant we had lots of privacy. The park itself is small- probably only 20/30 caravans- so was nice and quiet. There is a private path to Brean beach which is massive! Good walks in either direction- would recommend walking to Brean Down- it’s tiring bu worth it. The leisure park and main HRU site is about a 10/15 min walk. We did check it out on our first day but it wasn’t really our scene. Very busy and “Butlins” esque. We were glad we were staying at Golden Sands and the main site looked very busy with the caravans very close together. We didn’t use any of the facilities on the main site so cannot comment but everywhere seemed busy. We did order a takeaway from the Indian down the road which you can order on the HRU app. It was about 20 minutes late but very tasty. Other than that we cooked our own food in the lodge as the kitchen was so well equipped. Only thing we missed was oven gloves so make sure to take your own! Overall we had a lovely time and absolutely loved the lodge. Golden sands is a great base to explore Brean beach and also other Somerset attractions. Unfortunately the main park and resort of Brean itself wasn’t really our scene but we still had a great time. Golden Sands has the best of both worlds where you are close enough to the main park if you want, but also far away enough to have a quiet break and keep yourself to yourself.

We booked a weekend away with various members of our family through the Unity resorts website, 3 different caravans. When we arrived on the Friday we went to reception at the main unity site to ask for a map with the location of our caravan on ready for check in at 5pm (which to me seems an extremely late check in time). She asked for the caravan number that I had been emailed and when I told her the number she informed me that we were not staying on the main unity site, and in fact we were at another site a mile down the road called Golden sands. It was not made clear at the time of booking, or any time after the booking that we would be in a different site, although it said golden sands caravan, I just assumed that it was the name of the caravan. Having explained to the girl at reception that the rest of our family were staying at the main unity site and we had book it especially to all be together, I asked if we could be moved to the main site instead. The girl was not interested and just kept saying that we were staying at the other site, very unhelpful. We decided that there was nothing we could do about it and that we would just have to put up with it. We were allowed to park at the main site all day as you were not allowed to park at golden sands until check in, and use the facilities on site....... which we found out were one tiny arcade by reception, and a londis shop....... everything else was not open! Having arrive at 10.30am to make the most of our short break, there really was not much we could do on the site, so headed over to the leisure park. When we got to the rides, a big sign read ‘Britain’s biggest free entry theme park’ , only to be told that we had to buy at least £5 worth of tokens to enter the park. We explain that we were guests at unity and that we really just wanted to look around to kill time before our check in. They said that we had to buy tokens for Covid restrictions, but that was a total lie as they were not counting people coming in or going out, and the park was totally rammed. It’s just a money making thing for them and using Covid as an excuse. At 5pm we went to Golden sands to check in. We were slightly worried that because they had told everyone to check in the same time that there would be a massive backlog of people all trying to get in (most holiday places are giving people staggered times to ensure gov regulations with Covid are adhered to) but the site was very small and check in was very quick. The site looked well kept, but unfortunately our caravan was right next to the road and was very loud with cars and people walking up and down all times of the night, we really didn’t sleep much at all the first night. The caravan itself was nice and big, decorated nice and had all we needed. It’s a shame that it wasn’t cleaned properly thought as we found a dirty hair brush and two empty bottles of alcohol on top of the wardrobe in the master bedroom. Not great considering we were told the van would be cleaned more throughly due to Covid-19! There were so many other niggles with the unity resort such as the staff just being miserable and unhelpful (at the main site not at golden sands) that I don’t think we would bother to come back here again.

hank you for your feedback. You would have recieved a booking confirmation where information about the location of your units were stated, prior to your stay. We also provide further information about the location of our units on our website. Had you of booked online it would have details Golden sands and the distance from the resort. If you booked over the phone, our reservations team would have explained the location also. Our wardens meet you on arrival at the accommodation to unlock the unit. Your welcome pack will be there with your key and further information about the resort. We also provide a text service number where issues can be reported with ease. Had you of informed our team of your accommodation issues, they would have been happy to of rectified this for you straight away. I apologise that the cleanliness standards were not as expected and I will pass the details on to the housekeeping manager for investigation. A check in time is stated for guests access to their caravans. However guests do stagger acces to site, as some arrive early to beat traffic, or take advantage of the facilities until they are able to access their accommodation units. There are two different check in times. Some units are allocated 4pm, with others 5pm to stagger this also. Further facilities such as restaurants, the waterpark, cafes, arcades and takeaways are available at the Leisure park to enjoy, prior to check in. The Theme Park is owned and operated by an external business with admission controlled accordingly, to access the park. I apologise that your expectations were not met on this occasion. Our team are trying their hardest to ensure our guests have a pleasant stay given the current, very busy and strange circumstances. We appreciate our guests patience at this time.

The caravan was disgusting. Despite your website and adverts of stating check-in times were altered due to additional cleaning, the caravan hadn't been cleaned at all - this was also feedback from neighbouring vans. We complained at the reception to be told they'd need 4 hours to clean meaning we couldn't be in until 10pm. The floors were dirty, toilet seat dirty, dirty bed linen, the pull out bed in the living room still had children's toys in it and dirty sheets. The vents hadn't been cleaned, nor the sink. We had to purchase our own cleaning products and spend time cleaning to make it suitable. Site staff are rude - when using the bar, their member of staff stood at the till told me they couldn't serve me because their shift had finished (this was 10pm - their shift finished at 10pm) and just walked off - the manager then served the person behind us in the queue, leaving us stood there and the manager couldn't muster an apology.

Stayed on the small sister site of Unity. The site was small and quiet which was perfect and also right by the beach. Close to bars, restaurants and leisure park. The caravan it’s self was super clean and spacious with lovely decking. The staff were so friendly and helpful, one of them even changed my flat tyre before we left! Would definitely recommend.
