Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Awesome camping experience!! We go to Tresseck as much as we can as it’s the perfect place to chill and relax. The river is close by for a cooling swim or a paddle. Or launch your paddle board or canoe. Awesome Coffees at O’s and bacon rolls. Saturday night pizzas with the rugby on the big screen. What more do you want. The guys there provide everything you need for a great get away. We will be back very soon! Chris & Eres

Jeff and his team have created a superb place to enjoy with friends and family. We used one of the "zones" with some friends, and it gave us a safe, dog friendly enclosure to enjoy. Launch canoes from the slip, or paddle boards from the beach, great for swimming, and not far to great walks in th forest of Dean and the Black Mountains. We will go again next year!

A wonderful camping experience and I can’t wait to return. I was camping solo for the first time which daunted me a bit but the camp site felt so welcoming and friendly I soon settled in. It’s easy too with everything needed to hand - loved the toasties, the little bar and enjoyed some really beautiful walks around the local area, the church in Hoarwithy is unique and stunning and there was a castle site nearby, lots of history. Being on the edge of the river meant swimming a couple of times a day was easy. I didn’t use my car at all which was a welcome break, the camp site and local area had plenty to offer. It really is a gem of a place to visit and I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can!

Another peaceful and enjoyable stay at this hidden gem of a campsite. We arrived early evening, on a busy bank holiday, but were welcomed by Jeff and his daughter and then quickly set ourselves up, before heading to enjoy a lovely pizza home cooked on site. This was our second visit to this stunning family run site and we were very happy to be back. Our son was keen to head to see the ducks and paddle in the river. After a peaceful night, we were overjoyed to have bacon sandwiches cooked for us and a nice warm cuppa. The toilet facilities are basic, but clean, and with plenty of loo roll. They are regularly cleaned by staff who work hard to maintain them. The on site catering is superb and very much appreciated and Jeff and his team seem to always be available to answer any questions about the local area etc. We love our trips to Tresseck and hope to be back!

Thank you so much for your kind review :) Like all good campsites, we are always busy on a bank holiday weekend, but the team work really hard to give everyone the best experience. We feel very blessed to be custodians of such a beautiful part of the Wye Valley, and love sharing it with others. Thanks again and hopefully see you again soon :)

I was reluctant to leave a review... in fear I'd create an influx of eager campers flocking to the river and turning our hidden gem into the next "it place". I even considered painting a horrible picture... using the thieving night stalking ducks as an excuse to warn you off... so that my family and I could enjoy Tresseck un disturbed, and our kids could claim the rope swings for themselves. However, although the little feathered buggers did make their way in one morning and scarpered with our chocolate brioche breakfast, they also brought us tremendous joy... and the slightest negative comment in this review would only be a selfish attempt at trying to keep this place to ourselves! In truth, this truly is a hidden gem, what a stunning intimate campsite right on the river wye, with stunning views and its own private pebble beach. The grounds are perfectly manicured with clean facilities.... and campfires and dogs are welcome too! What sets this campsite apart from the others however, is the quirky touches, such as a chaming open boot bar where you can buy cold beers... a little shop for your bits and bobs, and you can even grab a sausage bap for breakfast... and although I didn't try one... I also noticed a pizza van! Jeff the owner is a fantastic host and all round decent human! Kind, friendly and accommodating. We enquired about availability for a charity canoe trip down the wye, and after agreeing to stay one night before moving down river... we just couldn't pull ourselves away and stayed for three nights! We will certainly be making this a regular weekend getaway... even if it does mean bringing extra Brioche to share with our new feathered friends!! Thanks Jeff.

So disappointed. I know it was Bank holiday weekend but ..... In my opinion there were too many people. Too crowded. Not enough space between units. Toilets were filthy before they were emptied. Adults with footballs and frisbees hitting the wind break instead of using the fields. Even a couple of drones. No washing up facilities and no drains round the water taps. It was more like a temporary festival site. Having said all that, it was lovely to get together and enjoy time with our family and swim in the river. After reading all the reviews I can only assume they weren't there when we were.

We're very sorry you were disappointed with your stay with us; we're always saddened when we receive reviews like this. We were busy; the August BH weekend is always our busiest weekend of the season - the last 'get-away' before the kids go back to school. Like all good campsites we were full that weekend. But we do control the number of people on site. Others have made the comment we don't cram people in; we guess it's all about expectations. We do take onboard your comments about the toilets, washing up facilities and water taps. For next season we plan to replace the portaloos with a toilet block with vacuum toilets, hand washing facilities and washing-up station. Because we are on an ancient river meadow we are unable to put in a drainage system with underground pipes and tanks, so although a large investment, this vacuum system will be a game-changer in the facilities we can offer our campers. We hope you will visit again, maybe not on a Bank Holiday weekend if you want things to be less busy, and experience our beautiful campsite once again. Please contact us direct and we would be delighted to offer you a free pitch :) Best wishes Team Tresseck

Cannot begin to say how fantastic these guys and this place are. I had 2 of my team on a 100 mile charity Kayak, that needed a stop over for the night, these guys even though full (and I can see why) found them a spot and made sure they were good. The sites facilities are brilliant and it’s a very beautiful place. Can’t thank you enough, really cannot sing there praises enough, we will all return in the future after the charity event and spend some time here. Thank you!

I took my 2 young children camping here, it had already been recommended to me by a friend and we had a great time. The porta-loos were clean and well maintained, and we appreciated the freedoms around fire, simply select a pre burned spot so that the grass can be protected. Breeze blocks for BBQs are available and wood is for sale. A permanent shower/toilet block may have been nice. But the 'social area'; (a massive canopy with sofa's and tables near the coffee shop) more than made up for this and would definitely become a comfortable sanctuary if the weather had turned on us. There is a nice pub at the edge of the site, and BIG area's to play, with goal posts too. I enjoyed being far from any road and close to the River. The Tresseck Team were able to show their true colours when, upon arriving home; my Son realised that "Felix"- his favourite cuddly tiger had been left. They were quick to realise the magnitude of this event, and re-prioritised their workload to re-unite the duo. He arrived in the post. Thank you for a great time. We shall return.

This place was amazing, loved the food, loved the river, loved how the fire pits are already in place for you. The kids throughly enjoyed it and we all know happy kids = happy parents. Everyone was friendly, toilets were clean and I only have one point neither bad nor would it stop me from revisting but a place to wash dishes would be an added bonus.
