A beautiful, restful place to stay, in an exceptional setting. We thoroughly enjoyed being at Sandhill House. We were warmly welcomed by Mary, Andrew and the adorable Fudge, who all went the extra mile to make our stay special. Our room was extremely comfortable and had a gorgeous view over the Tamar valley. Breakfasts were delicious, and offered a good choice. We enjoyed some great discussions with Mary over breakfast! We can thoroughly recommend Sandhill House as a lovely place to stay, as it is so reasonably priced for what is on offer, and there are some interesting places to visit nearby.
We’ve just returned from a fabulous break at Sandhill House. Mary looked after us and my disabled father in law like we were family, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were fab, ours overlooked the chapel and my father in laws room had stunning views over the Tamar valley. The rooms are spacious and you can see the quality of everything in there. Breakfast was a real treat and once again quality ingredients and great cooking came to the fore. It’s easy to order too much as the choice is fab. The cooked breakfast was excellent but the scrambled egg and salmon was on another level. We really enjoyed our short break and meeting Mary, Andrew and Fudge (aka the butler) made our stay extra special. A big thank you to Mary for going the extra mile and treating my father in law to a birthday cake and afternoon tea, it helped make his day very special. We’ll be sure to stay again when we’re next in the area!…
We stayed for 1 week at Tamar Orchard Barn set in its own private garden within the grounds of Sandhill House. It's extremely private and a real rural oasis for a getaway. The kitchen is quite small but modern and extremely well equipped considering its limited size. The bathroom is fitted to a very good standard with hot water running quickly on demand. We found the king-size bed very comfortable and despite the relatively cool weather enjoyed sitting outside most evenings. On the couple of evenings where we had to retreat inside there were 2 comfy armchairs and also a small dining table and chairs. Being located in the middle (between the north and south) we found it perfect for heading out in a different direction every day, like spokes of a bicycle wheel. Most evenings we were greeted by the lovely, charming and placid Fudge (the dog) upon our return. Our host Mary was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Overall a great experience and place to stay.…
We absolutely loved our stay at the Sandhill house! Set in the beautiful scenery of Cornwall, the accommodation was just as beautiful and we would like to specially thank Mary, Andrew, Fudge and Theo for the very warm welcome. This was our last holiday before our new arrival and we were blown away by the kind and caring hospitality we received during our stay. We wish Mary all the best and hope to return to the Sandhill in the near future. Thank you from Amrit and Suman x
..... all the review before me are accurate, this place fully deserving solid 5 stars. Fudge made the stay, for sure! Mary and Andrew the perfect hosts and the views, sublime, the rooms warm and comfortable, the grounds just perfect with azaleas and rhodies in their full May glory. Thank you, make sure you stay!
Staying at this most elegant and charming country house, for my essential work, was the most perfect, stress free experience. After first night (still in lock-down) I was able to combine my work commitments with a precious visit with my son who was able to write and relax by the wood-burner in this stunning setting, whilst I went to work. Mary and Andrew were the most welcoming and thoughtful of hosts. The rooms were beautiful, with many added touches for comfort and pampering. Breakfast, was delicious and gourmet, with every diet catered for. Reservations were made for us at a charming local pub with excellent food. A treasure of a find! Thank you Mary and Andrew.
Thank you Mary and Andrew for a lovely break.... We wanted for nothing... Room perfect and breakfasts delicious.... Scenery is stunning.... Great location for both Devon and cornish places of interest.... Our 3rd stay and we got to meet fudge the dog... Bonus 😊! Highly recommend a visit you won't be disappointed. Debbie and Michael
We were incredibly lucky to be recommended to Sandhill by previous guests. Mary and Andrew are the most charming owners of this beautiful Georgian house and also the chefs of the best quality breakfasts we have ever had. The bedrooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and the beds are superb. Lovely touches such as electric blankets, fresh flowers from the garden and en-suite with toiletries made our stay so special. If you want to escape for a while and enjoy peace and tranquility then this lovely place is where you want to be. Thank you for such a lovely break .
My wife daughter and I had 2 nights here and it was lovely. Mary made us very welcome and it was what we needed as we were having a break away from our house build in Spain. The room was very elegant and my Spanish wife and daughter were very impressed. Personally I always preferring stay in more personal traditional home like this than the cold plastic hotels and Sandhill was better than we expected. After showing our friends the pictures of our stay they are all very envious and are asking my to take them there. I would recommend this to anyone who likes staying in real country homes that are run by owners who go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay. 4 star plus. That’s very much for making my wife’s dream stay.
Not stayed in many b'n'bs but I suspect they're not all as good as this! Room was warm and comfortable, views were great and our new friend Fudge was as loyal as any pet! Mary cooked the most delicious breakfasts and was kind and generous in her hospitality. The weather was off so we didn't get to explore the handsome garden - maybe next time!
