Forte Rose Resort Rose is a small fishing village at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. In the past, Teuta boats, Venetian galleys, Venetian sailboats, Turkish ships and Austro-Hungarian ships have entered Rose. Rose is the oldest port in the Bay of Kotor and on the entire coast of Montenegro. They were also known as ship quarantines at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor during Venetian rule. One of the interesting stories of Ross is the story of the relics of St. Tryphon. Due to a storm in 809, a group of Venetian merchants took refuge in Rosa Bay. The inhabitants of Kotor learned that it was a ship from Constantinople that was going to Venice, and that on board were the relics of St. Tryphon, a beheaded martyr of the 3rd century. The inhabitants of Kotor managed to buy the relics, and since then Saint Tryphon has been guarding and protecting Kotor. The history of the ancient times of this settlement is also interesting. Rose are mentioned in many historical writings as the settlement of Resnium in the fourth century. Previously, there was an ancient Greek settlement of Ponto Rose. It was destroyed by the Saracens (the name of the Arabs in the Middle Ages) in the second half of the 9th century. During the Venetian rule, ships had to quarantine in Rose, thus preventing the spread of the disease. Ships are approaching from all directions. Rose met them at the entrance to Boka, provided security and gave permission for further entry into the bay. In addition to the permission, there is also a blessing from the Luštica peninsula, which has twenty churches and thus justifies the epithet of the holy peninsula. Let’s mention the two churches closest to the Forte Rose resort, the Orthodox Church (Holy Trinity) from the 18th Century and the Catholic Church (Saint Carmen) from the 18th Century. Today, Rose is known as a small tourist resort with captain’s houses and palaces crowded by the sea, opposite the pier. Once the fortress was the basis of the defense of Rose, but today there is a need for relaxation and entertainment, so the fortress has an exclusive restaurant. Amid lush vegetation and pristine cypresses, pines, olive trees and centennial carob trees, stone villas have been built that welcome you to their pleasant accommodation. In addition to the villas, there is a swimming pool and a tavern in a typical stone and wood style in the ring of the fortress, an unforgettable experience for all gourmets. Below the tavern is a Saracen cellar, where today the owners keep a selected repertoire of wines and brandies made from the carob tree that has adorned the fortress for more than a hundred years. It also stores cheeses, prosciutto, olives harvested from the region and more traditional products. Since ancient times, there have been openings here that used to be loopholes, and now provide fresh air to these rooms. In addition to traditional lifestyle and enjoyment, Forte Rose also offers modern ways to relax and revitalize with a wellness and massage corner with sauna. Along the entire fort, you will be guided by a path that used to be pushed by cannons, from the “pool square” and “tavern square” to restaurants, 6 luxury apartments and the “terrace of love”. In addition to the beloved “terrace of love”, which is an ideal place for weddings, the fort is decorated with a “carob tree terrace” that creates an intimate atmosphere. Since ancient times, there have been openings here that used to be loopholes, and now provide fresh air to these rooms. Another interesting thing is the pond, where the guest can choose and catch the fish he wants to taste. This resort is enriched with 4 beaches, two of which are reserved for resort guests, located near the fortress, and one of them is reserved only for guests of luxury apartments. If you arrive by land, your vehicle will be safely parked in a car park with over 200 spaces. Not far from the parking lot is Forte Rose Beach First, overlooking the healing clear sea, with a bar and beach furniture. It is 120 m long. “Forte Rose Beach Second” is a beach that can be reached on foot from the restaurant, it is rich in vegetation, it also has a bar and beach furniture, 150 m long. Nature, buildings, people, the sea, smells, tastes… everything points to the justification of the name Rose, which bears the name of one of the most beautiful flowers and that is why the Rose can be called the rose of the Bay of Kotor. Welcome to Rose!

Amazing atmosphere, like you are at the end of the world with a view to some distant civilization across the bay... Even though I don’t like the fact Forte Rose is not pet friendly - I need to say it’s amazing that they take care about cats and respect natural environment... Beach guy is a bit too independent... in a bad way.

We loved our 3 days at this resort. The local staff are beautiful and can't do enough. They took us on the hotel boat over to the blue cave for a swim and snorkle, all inclusive in the price of the accommodation. Breakfast also included and just delicious. Other guests mainly locals and everyone speaks English. Can't speak more highly of this place.

Primarily came for a day, to visit the picturesque fishing village of Rose but having paid a visit to Forte Rose, we decided to stay the night.
Forte Rose is truly set in a superb location. At the edge of the small fishing village, with unparalleled views across the bay of Kotor.
We were warmly welcomed by Ivana and well looked after by the staff.
Our bungalow met our needs and had the most beautiful view out to the sea.
There are two small stone beaches, with easy access into the clear sea. Guests are given reserved loungers.
The food was good and the resort of an evening shimmers in the moonlight - you really do feel like you are in paradise.
Would love to stay again.

I should start by saying I did not stay here, but as part of a group of 10 staying in a villa in nearby Klinci, we found ourselves in the beautiful village of Rose a lot as it has the only shop for miles. Whilst exploring we found this hotel and made use of its facilities. Firstly, we rented sun loungers on the beautiful beach (it has a number, I’m not sure what number!) which has a 100m stretch with umbrellas, loungers and drink service (no food - this is the only thing that would have made it better). The beach is shingle so water shoes are recommended, especially since one of our group stepped on a sea urchin… ouch!
We also asked the reception about boat tours. Rose is absolutely beautiful and located at the mouth of Kotor Bay, but unlike any of the larger towns there are no boat tour operators there despite the perfect location. The receptionist introduced us to Milan, who in turn arranged a wonderful day out on the resorts sailing yacht where we visited the blue cave, went for a swim and stopped off for a lovely Rosé lunch. The Forte Rose team also fitted our group of 10 into the restaurant upon our return where we had an enjoyable and delicious dinner.
We found the team at the hotel so helpful that we arranged a return trip to Tivat by speedboat which was a great way to see the bay and the return journey in the pitch-black darkness (whilst 4 kids sang ABBA songs, as a result of watching Mamma Mia the previous evening) was a particular highlight.
We also arranged speedboat transfers to both Tivat airport and to Herceg Novi and were so impressed at how helpful staff were each time we made a request. Whilst the village of Rose is quite remote by road it really is easy to get to by sea and having someone reliable to contact to arrange boat trips made our holiday so much better. It is also very extremely beautiful, and several of our group have said if we were to return it would involve a stay at this hotel.
Thank you to everyone who was so helpful, despite us not being hotel residents. Your can-do attitude was a real highlight of our stay in Montenegro.

Looks good from the sea, feels terrible when on the shore. Overrated place with ok food and season workers who doesn’t have a clue how to deal with the clients. They brought bottle of wine in the basket and place it on sun site from the table. When I said that wine will be warm, the reply from the worker was that “ he cannot change for sun to shine”. For 49 min there was no appetizers, no bread but only warm wine, which waiter brought in a minute after we placed an order. Vongoles in wine souse were great, but nothing else. We would have some pictures, but at that time it honestly looked like a piece of excrement on the plate with nothing else there! Our waiter told her it will take 6 min to prepare a side dish. We waited for 30 min with our meats sitting in 35 degrees heat. After that we threw our meats out and abruptly left. Stay away from places open only during season. They don’t care about you

Over the past 15 years, I have always enjoyed staying at Fort Rose in the sea, rented a bed, had a delicious meal (bed rental was deducted from the bill). This year again in August we wanted to rent 2 beds again, 240 euros!!! Then we went to the new beach next door, operated by Fort Rose: 75 euros per bed. We wanted to go to the beach with our towel to give the disappointed children a dip in the water, but we were aggressively chased away. We were told private property.... Beaches in Montenegro suddenly private property?? It is clear that there were hardly any people on the beach and the atmosphere at Forte Rose is not really fun anymore... It used to be so much fun

Our experience visiting Forte Rose resort for the afternoon from boat in Montenegro was bittersweet. The setting was undeniably breathtaking, offering some of the most magnificent and charming views I've ever witnessed. The location was truly majestic, with a backdrop of some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.
I initially questioned the bartender whether the resort was open to the public, as it exuded an exclusive atmosphere. The bartender was exceptionally kind and accommodating, assuring us that we were welcome. However, our interactions with the maître d' left much to be desired. Despite the availability of numerous tables for four, he seated each couple separately, which seemed unnecessary.
A disappointing aspect of our visit was the limited menu and the unavailability of the items we wished to order. To make matters worse, my food never arrived, but it was still included on the bill. When I inquired about my missing order, the maître d' simply informed me that the meal I had requested was no longer available. This interaction left a bitter taste in my mouth, and it became increasingly difficult to enjoy the beautiful setting with such a seemingly unpleasant and unaccommodating individual attending to us.
I made a concerted effort to maintain a cordial and friendly demeanor, even though the maître d' appeared disinterested in providing good service. I had hoped to win him over with kindness, but after he informed me that my chosen meal wasn't available, I found myself increasingly disheartened.
In the end, it's regrettable that this unpleasant encounter marred what could have been one of the most memorable and beautiful dining venues of our 31 years of marriage. Despite the stunning surroundings, the behavior of the maître d' left a lasting negative impression. I’ve never encountered such a major display of rudeness, and I sincerely wish our visit had been free from this unfortunate encounter.

The restaurant have fantastic view and all preconditions for excellence. However the dishes are overpriced and the elementar hospitality is missing when it comes to advisory role. The starters are small and with prices for main dish. Famous potatous with rosmary was just a jocke.

We spent a lovely morning in Rose. When we arrived at Forte Rose, we asked if it was possible to have a table for a drink (coffee / tea), around 10 am. The hotel was empty, no table used, no clients. First, we've been told by a sorry waiter that all the tables were booked for the lunch. It was 10 am...Ok... Then we showed him tables not dressed for the lunch, and he asked his manager if we could have a tea or coffee. The manager, an angry man (still wondering why he is working in hospitality), told us no, even for a coffee or a tea. When we insisted a bit, he spoke in serbian to another employee (angrily), asking him to tell us no again. The place is lovely, the staff is certainly working under terror, but the owner / manager is just working in the wrong industry, hospitality is not an understood word for him.

We arrived at the mouth of the Sea of Kotor, and stopped at the delightful little fishing village of Rose. On arrival we moored at Resort Forte Rose, a beautifully restored old Fort on the eastern peninsula of the little village. We had a delicious lunch in the restaurant overlooking the sea, and were shown around the resort by the very polite and informative receptionist Dusân. This resort is a little gem, with and highly recommended. Dusân showed us beautiful appointed rooms all with their own terraces overlooking the sea. There is a lovely courtyard garden in the centre with mature Olive trees, bougainvillea, and a small swimming pool. At the back of the courtyard is a second restaurant with a well stocked wine cellar and local cured meats and cheeses. The staff were all so welcoming and helpful. Definitely thinking of coming back soon.
