The room was available before check in time. There is a Cabaret Show every night 8:30pm in the restaurant.
Old hotel not well maintained. No kettle, coffee or tea. There was no AC remote control in the room, I had to ask reception for one. No light in front of the room (pretty dark at night). The TV doesn't work, they told us the reason was the winds, but it didn't work for 2 whole days (even when there was no wind) also I stayed in two hoteis nearby (Phutawan and Diamond) where the TV worked just fine all the time. The biggest problem in this hotel is not whether the TV works or not, but the receptionist's negligence with a guest problem.

I have stayed here for the past five years for 2-3 weeks at a time. Excellent property, good enough location. Now the bad...always was a problem with restaurant-usually not a concern of mine in Thailand, but food in krabi is well under par with the mainland and the north, although my favorite restaurant in the south, The Mangrove, flourishes in Railay and is the only place I would recommend on the peninsula.
Viewpoint takes piss poor care of their food and the customers. Latest examples; four different rooms checked out early and suddenly the first few days I was there due to being violently sick. I learned my lessons there in previous years.
Twice this year the staff started a fight with me, and I am very well trained- actual confrontations because I was at breakfast (stick to the cereal and fruit and juice and eggs only) and they wanted to eat the leftovers, not let us paying customers enjoy it. Twice.
At the room, which I will never rent again, the gardener, upon day one arrival, was hiding behind the bushes staring us down. Very creepy and scary. For 15 minutes before I addressed him very intentionally.
On two different days, housekeeping took something from the room. One item, the case for my camera. The second offense was a pair of shoes!
Now the worst, as if the horror described above wouldn't deter the most determined traveler....the hotel front desk staff. I warn you. The first thing we experienced was an attempt to downgrade our room, which was reserved three months in advance and fully paid for. After resisting the change long enough, they permitted us to stay in the room which we already had for three days. Bear in mind the hotel was at about 45% capacity with four similar rooms to ours vacant!
Now the worst.....the hotel front desk staff, even while the manager himself mr.yong, was present are prostitutes that work the guests and use the hotel rooms. Nightly. Absolutely disgusting. 2 of them are ladyboys. We thought their disguise obvious, but they would pick off the drunk climbers and last resort bar patrons as they would stumble back to the resort, usually when they were alone. We saw them twice even go upstairs to rooms and look into windows of guests they previously saw walk by drunk and petition them further. This hotel, which I used to recommend to many people is a fkn nightmare. Do not rent here under any circumstances. I would even avoid staying there at all, unless you are vigilant and formiddable. Make Railay a day trip only, or go to phi phi where there are far less problems and tourists welcomed. I even had my belongings stolen from the beach at phranang beach, from the "security" staff of the most elite hotel there. 2 hours after a very firm standoff with four of them, they returned my camera and belongings.
The area has widely been known for petty thievery and hustling of tourists, case in point the reputation of the diamond hotel properties adjacently located in Railay. But I never experienced problems at viewpoint in my previous years other the deplorable food situation at the property, but the new staff is disgraceful and dangerous.
. I love Thailand. I love Buddha. I love Thai people. I met my wife at Railay and we used to love it at viewpoint. Now we will pay 3 times as much to stay across the peninsula at one of the safer bigger resorts such as sand and sea, if we return to Railay at all. I have never written a hotel review, but viewpoint has gone to hell and they certainly do not care. Heed my advice and don't go.

We booked this place at short notice whilst travelling around Thailand. All the other hotels where we stayed had been as good as, if not better than we expected and I suppose we had got a bit complacent.
We turned up a bit early and the room wasn't ready, not a problem but we were asked to pay up front for our 'superior' room which we did to our regret. We then went to have lunch in the hotel's restaurant where the service was terrible and the food not much better.
Our room turned out to be a downstairs Butlins type chalet which was dark, very smelly and in desperate need of a revamp. there was large gaps between the door and door frame and after just a few minutes in the room we realised we couldnt stay there one night.
We asked at reception for another room and were shown a 'standard' which was as bad as the first. We then had a battle with the staff on reception and then the manager to obtain a refund.
My partner stood his ground and the situation got quite heated but we eventually had the card payment voided and we moved to the hotel nextdoor.
So my advice is, if you have to stay at this hotel, please check your room before paying!

The room we stayed at in the back of the resort was spacious, comfortable, clean, and very much an island vibe with its stone decor. If you're looking for a Holiday Inn experience, this isn't it. It's better. It's personal.

The food is legit Thai food, but the owner lived in the US for a year and her staff prepares some regular western style food if you're missing home.

The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you feel at home. Need directions? Suggestions? Help booking a tour or catching the ferry? They got you covered.

The breakfast buffet has eggs, stirfries, cereal, coffee, tea, juice, french toast, and they offer othper stuff off the menu forva very good price. Try their thai omelet and if you're brave, ask for extra chilies. It is delicious.

This hotel was the worst one we stayed in thailand. For the money wasnt worth it at all. The shower was broken and i tried all 4 nights ask to repair it and noone bother. Staff doesnt speak english well. The room was nightmare wall coming off mould on walls. When you leave the fridge will switch off as well. There is much better resort to stay in Railay dont go to this one.

Was unable to visit due to medical reason and advised in advanced, requesting refund. Property simply did not reply. This is discourteous. I subsequently visited the property and saw that it was not well kept, the pool was dirty and therefore I am not surporsed that the business is also discourteous. I am relieved that I did not have to stay there. I can see that the photos and thr eepresentations they make as to the quality of the resport are misleading, beware!

I'll keep it as short as possible.

Owner is rude and aggressive.

Staff are poorly trained and seem to lack any enthusiasm.

The room was dirty, falling apart and unsanitary.

We returned to our room one night to find that a tap had broken and water was spraying everywhere.

Breakfast is of a very low standard and served next to open drains. Meaning most of the "food" is covered in flies.

My other half got sick while staying there.

The Wifi doesn't work, I assume this is on purpose to steer people towards there Internet room, where for 2 baht per minute you can surf using their outdated and virus ridden machines.

The pool area is quite nice.

OK, so I have never left a bad review before. Generally if I get a "bad" service, I just put it down to the fact that it's a cheap hotel and it's not the end of the world...

but these guys are thieves, and they have ignored 4 emails asking to rectify the situation, so I think I should just let everyone know the service they can expect.

I booked several weeks before my stay (which was on 8th March) on Booking.com.

As usual with Booking.com, they sometimes allow the hotel to debit my card in advance - no problem usually.

So I arrived on the 8th March, thinking that my room was paid for. When I arrived at reception, I was told that they had NOT taken payment.

As I was in Thailand and the hotel had ZERO wifi access, I couldn't check if this was true or not via my online banking. But I had no reason to suspect they were lying, so I gave them my credit card and let them charge my room.

On returning to the airport, I noticed my bank account was totally empty (I was on a pretty tight budget), so when I git home to Singapore a couple of days later I checked my online account.

They had indeed charged my account before I had arrived, and the second charge was taken from my account on the 11th March.

So I have fraudulently been charged for 2 nights. $118 SGD for 1 night's stay in a dodgy hotel with no WiFi and a dodgy manager.

I have written to them 4 times since then and received zero reply from their online contact form and my own email address.

So asides from the fact that these guys are scammers (or thieves, to be more precise), what else can I say about the hotel?

Well, I was sitting in the bar one night, trying to access the WiFi. I asked the manager if I could have the password, and he just stated bluntly that there no WiFi. Despite the fact that there were 2 hotspots visible with the hotel name on.

I now suspect that this is part of the scam to prevent people from checking if money has been deducted from their banks.

The breakfast was not great (but again, not the end of the world), and there were bedbugs. Again, not the end of the world. I have slept with bugs before...in a 10 dollar bungalow, I wouldn't even bat an eyelid.

But bear in mind, I have paid nearly $120 for this. So I am totally seething at this. I only wanted to see the solar eclipse from Krabi, and I ended up getting scammed by these people.

I just hope Booking.com can reimburse me, because these people clearly don't care once they have your money in their pocket.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Choose a different hotel. ANY hotel.

The breakfast buffet was empty. I had to tell the staff standing right in front of the food that the pans were completely empty, and they weren't too happy about having to work to refill it.

The rooms are dilapidated. I woke with something on my arm, so I jumped up to find a spider in my bed. I get out to see 20-30 spiders on the bed and on me.

I jump into the shower and grab a towel, only to see its not clean, and looks like it was used to wipe up mud or worse.

The price is not good to start with, and I forgot to mention the pool with a green hue in the water, and a poor repair job.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in early Feb. It was recommended by the travel agent.. We payed 1500 baht for a room with air conditioning. Once you arrive you have walk up a steep hill to your room. The rooms are dark and dungy. The bathrooms are horrendous. Major need of upgrading. It is hit or miss with the staff..some friendly some not. the owner of the resort is not very friendly. It wasnt until a giant bee was in our disgusting bathroom, that we decided to upgrade to a pool view room. The cost of the room was 2200 baht and it was a lot nicer!! It was nice to sit outside.. the bathroom was not great but better.. and very private. The bfast was good.. and dinner at the restuarant was also good.. If you are on a budget and can't afford the 2200 baht stay away from this place and Railay beach...
