Isla del Canto Trip
We stayed for three nights and four days relaxing at Isla del Encanto the experience was wonderful and we had a great time. Our bunglow was spacious, clean, well maintained, and conveniently located near the pools, food service and beaches. Our activities were more for relaxation but there was a variety of options to choose from, including tours, snorkeling, kayak and other water transport, ping pong, and more. We mostly enjoyed our cool room, being around the pool, beach, and eating food while engaging with the people working there. Our interactions with the employees was the best part of our stay. They were cheerful, conscientious, and eager to be helpful. There was a wide range of language skills as far sd English is concerned from very little to fluent. The management seemed understanding in directing more fluent employees to those who needed it. My wife's Spanish is excellent and mine is poor so I had excellent assistance from a young man named Lucas. He is a pleasure to be with and made my visit very special. The food was good, plentiful, and varied. The fruit was freshly cut chilled and nicely ripened. I am sending a few photos though the ten picture restriction limits my ability to send allthe pictures I’d like. I will focus on the people and let web page show you the amenities. Here is my list of the people who made our experience so nice:
Marcelo, Alfonso, Sebastian,
Gustavo, Rosa, Señor Lucas,
Sylvia, Mayra, Samuel, Alberto, Molina, Andres, and several more that did not catch all their names. Benjamin our Gardner was an incredible worker with pride of purpose which showed in the plantings in our yard.
Katya and Jessica our masseuses were great. Jessica our housekeeper was diligent and kept out room looking clean and fresh.
Finally the administrative staff that answered all our questions patiently, politely and with smiles always!:
Maria Nela, Gyscar, Junior
There is no particular order in the listings here other than chronological as we met them and enjoyed their company.

Kindest regards,
John and Martha

We spent a week in Cartagena for my 51st birthday. Someone recommended we go to one of the islands for the night. A tour guide took us directly to the office and told us we would LOVE it. (I feel like he may have gotten a kick back) My husband and I travel often and were a little disappointed by the lack of amenties and activites. I did have a wonderful massage. The spa is located outside with hut for massages. Hearing the ocean and birds and feeling a gentle breeze added to the relaxation I was in search of. However that's were it stopped. After the massge my husband and I decide we would have an early dinner only to be told dinner didn't start until 7pm. Luckily I packed some snacks. At dinner they had 4 options. Non of the options meet our dietary needs, they did provide with a meal off the room service menu. The staff we encountered were pleasant and did what they could to make us comfortable. If I had to do it again, I would have done further research and vetted it against other options. I

The attention is great, and the cabins are beautiful, and in the bath they have L’Occitane soap, shampoo and moisturizer cream . The food is okay.
The water is clear, Learned to paddle board, and you can always find a quiet place to rest.
The bar serves the cocktails with to little alcohol, but it was ok with me, cause I don’t drink.

My husband and I spent two nights at the hotel at the end of our Anniversary trip to Colombia. When you first get off the boat you think..oh this looks nice. Then you go to lunch and realize that the food worth eating is gone and will not be replaced so you're left with scraps. The hotel looks run-down. Pool had mold all over and hot tub looks so filthy we never went in. The room was nice and actually better than expected (we stayed in Delphin 8) but the customer service was so horrible that I just wanted to get out of there! No one says hello to you and to top it off the boat ride back was not included as promised and we had to pay an extra $140 to get back to the mainland. Oh wait...I'm not done. After paying the $140 they wanted to leave us 20 minutes away from where we had agreed. Some lie about small boats not being allowed at the pier. I raised hell so they finally dropped us where we wanted and wouldn't you know it....small boats all over! I've NEVER had an experience as bad as this one and my husband and I travel a lot. Just stay away if you want to enjoy your vacation!

Very nice area and the room was clean with working A/C. That is where the positives stop. Food was mediocre at best and very repetitive(hint: the tiramisu and chocolate torte were the same exact thing). Meal times are extremely stringent and if you miss your window you will go hungry. But what really bothers me it that this hotel claims to be “all inclusive”. I guess what they mean is your room and 3 meals are included, literally everything else is pay as you go. Not to mention the 10% Colombian tipping VAT that is charged every time you get something(conveniently no one tells you this at check in). They also send an email with every purchase which is just plain annoying. It really felt like we were being nickeled and dimed at every corner. We arrived on the boat to the island at 12 noon but check in time is at 3pm. You can have lunch but of course this lunch isn’t included in your “3 meals a day” again with the nickel and dime-ing. We arrived at the same time as 2 influencers ( or at least wannabe influencers). During our check in, when we were being notified of the one towel per guest per day rule, the manager pulled them aside to ensure them that they would be completely taken care of(no such conversation for us..) The service they received was night and day compared to us. Different offering for meals, different dining locations, It seemed if you didn’t have you phone open to Instagram the entire time the staff was completely indifferent to your presence. I understand that this is how marketing is done these days but that didn’t help the fact that we felt ignored the whole time. But all of these things pale in comparison to the absolute WORST part….music. Yes, music. For approximately 1/3 of our time we were bombarded by a DJ in the town about 1/2 mile away. This building shaking invasion lasted from 7pm till 2am our first night and from noon till 10pm on our second day. Sleep was completely impossible. No relaxing beach days to be had. When I asked the manager about it he told me there is a concert EVERY Saturday and Sunday night and on Mondays when it’s a “special occasion” and there’s nothing they can do about it. I understand there’s nothing that the staff can do to help but that doesn’t make it easier to sleep at 1am.

Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Isla del Encanto is a unique Colombian island experience with lovely rooms, 3 meals included daily, an amazing saltwater pool (with a swim-up bar in the middle) and the opportunity to pay for additional activities - which were a little bit pricey to be honest. They offer free transport for guests to the hotel every day around 11 and back to Cartagena around 2 pm. We were flying in from Medellin and couldn't make the 11 am boat, so the hotel reserved a car for us. It was actually a full bus that picked us up at the airport. It's a 2 hour drive through Baru island to a parking lot in the small town where we hopped on a small motor boat for a 2 minute boat ride to the island. They gave us a lovely pineapple smoothie when we checked in and then we went up to our room. We walked around the property, took a dip in the pool and had a drink from the bar, and waited until dinner service started at 7 pm. The staff didn't seen overly friendly to me when we first arrived but I think maybe the staff that evening did not speak a lot of English. The next day I arranged a tour of the Rosario Islands and snorkeling with their partner business that works on the island / hotel and does all of the tours. The boat and snorkeling tour was a lot of fun, although in the end they took us to a beach to spend an hour where we had to pay for a chair and/or food which I wasn't into because we already had paid to stay by the beach and have meals, so I asked to go back to Isla del Encanto. That day at the restaurant our server was Lucas, who is learning English and was so nice and welcoming to us. The next day I booked a trip to National Aviary. It cost 3x the cost of the 2 hour bus ride for a 30 minute (each way) car ride to the Aviary, but we went ahead and paid it. The rest of our time on the island I felt very welcomed, and we enjoyed the pool and the sunset and also our boat ride back to Cartagena. In the end, we were very happy we spent three days there. There were a lot of other families there, and it feels like a very inclusive place.

We went for a day trip to this hotel (It was approximately $60/person) from 10am-3:30pm (leave at 9am from the pier and get back to the pier around 4:30pm), and it was wonderful. There was swimming, kayaking, and SUP-ing. There were additional activities (wakeboarding, snorkeling, etc) that you could pay for, which we didn't do. The lunch was incredible. The island was peaceful and relaxed. The staff were also so fantastic. I had booked the tickets through their website, and hadn't spoken to an actual person, so I was nervous about showing up at the Bodeguita pier the next day, unsure I would be able to find where the boats leave from, but it was so straightforward, and everyone was so helpful in getting us checked in. Ingrid, in particular, was great about helping us figure everything out on the island and on the boat ride. Our Spanish is pretty limited, but the staff spoke excellent English, which was a plus! Oh, and the bathrooms were so unbelievably clean - always a good thing! :) Overall, a wonderful time and a highlight of our trip to Cartagena.

My boyfriend and I visited Hotel Isla de Encanto for just a few days as we were staying at Boca Grande. One of the managers, Jose, took great care of us by providing incredible breakfast, lunch and so many delicious cocktails. Our server, Juan, always checked in on us, making sure we had everything we needed. The beach was so peaceful and we were able to lay under the shade of trees and umbrellas throughout the day. For lunch, the chef made an incredible seafood pasta and stuffed lobster that we will always remember. A great way for two teachers from Washington, DC to have a full day of relaxation! Could not recommend with enough praise!

Excellent all around!!! We arrived by a 2-hour bus ride from Cartagena and a 3-min boat ride in pouring rain, and immediately upon arrival, our family of 4 was treated kindly by the entire staff. Our bungalow was very spacious and clean. The main pool was very large (with few floaties and toys) and the smaller kiddie pool had a small slide for little kids to play in. There is plentiful food and drink options for all meals and snacks. The beach was small but very enjoyable with options for free kayaking, SUP, snorkeling and such.

The best part of our stay was by far talking with the friendly staff. Junior, in particular, was an ABSOLUTE GEM!!!! I enjoyed talking with him and learning about his life dreams. I will miss him and the entire resort. Highly recommend!!!

Our experience was amazing. The food was super nice and delicious. We were super impressed with the chef and the way he cooked and decorated his meals! Our room was super nice as well. Everything was super elegant and tropical. We had so much fun we were able to rent jet skis and they had other experiences like snorkelling. It was truly a great island it made our trip so much better! We went by boat and it was fast and a fun ride. The service was amazing as well! They always made sure you had everything you needed and treated you like family. They were all very friendly and helpful! Overall, we really enjoyed everything and we would definitely go again! We 100% recommend this island and hotel!
