Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent location and very safe and clean. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was very tasty. I would absolutely stay here again. This hotel also offers cruises and other excursions. It is at the end of the Malecon so there is a lovely seaside walk to be had.

Super cute little hotel in La Paz. It had comfy beds, drinking water for guests along with a kitchen area, a rooftop balcony perfect for watching sunset, and super friendly and helpful staff. We had a delicious breakfast at the hotel in the morning

We stayed at Posada LunaSol in October for 3 nights when Hurricane Norma hit. Despite no water or electricity with impassable streets staff showed up every day to cook us food, no restaurants or stores could open, and provide us water when I am sure they had their own issues at home to deal with. Not sure how they even made it to the hotel in the middle of the hurricane. Ricardo, the owner, was present every day making sure we were taken care of and provided flashlights for all the guests. The hotel is lovely with pretty details everyplace you looked. Thank you for going above and beyond. Brett

Dear Guest, What a crazy weekend that was for us at the hotel! We are just so glad everyone came through hurricane Norma safe and healthy despite losing power and running low on supplies. Luckily Ricardo and some staff live on site or nearby which was a great help to everyone. We always feel responsible for our guests no matter what is thrown our way. Thanks SO much for posting this very nice review here on TA. We really appreciate all your patience and flexibility while staying with us during this storm. Cheers, Mary & Ricardo

This was meant to be the jump off point for our Baja trip. It turned into a much longer stay due to the weather. During the whole time the hosts were helpful and obliging even during power outages and room flooding. We did manage one trip to the island organized ( but not run by) the hotel and this too was perfect. I can heartily recommend this hotel.

We usually visit Cabo w friends and had a vaguely negative vision of La Paz. That is very wrong. Fantastic city. Morning walk along malecon is great. Espresso. Sort of Euro vibe. Maybe Cali. Lots of Mexican tourists and locals. Hotel was perfect for us. Basic. Convenient. Friendly. Respectful. Safe. Secure parking Good breakfast. A little funky. (In a good way) fantastic rooftop palapa. We stayed on our way up the peninsula and on our way back. Will definitely stay again.

I fell in love with this hotel when I first saw the photos of it online! I love the very colors of the buildings, those of Indian or Mexican spices! I was so taken with the photos that I booked my room almost immediately! Now, when I got to La Paz last week, it was just after correcting a mistaken impression I'd had of the whole city. I'd been monitoring the weather there for several weeks; but it turned out there is ANOTHER La Paz in Mexico (NOT just in Bolivia!), that is much cooler! I believed I was going to that one! I only learned otherwise the morning before my flight left! This miscalculation altered things a bit for me. I'd planned on walking back and forth from the hotel to downtown, maybe several times a day! Lots of steps! The way it turned out, I could only do that early in the morning! My whole experience in La Paz was a learning experience...learning to deal with the city as it is, and where I was! HOTEL POSADA LUNA/SOL was a beloved Oasis for me! The hotel is, I realized during my stay, A WORK OF ART! All of its elements worked together to LOVE me! To AWAKEN me! To give me JOY! This included the wonderful decor...Mexican folk decor...of the rooms, the beautiful large wall tiles that are everywhere; the many plants in the hallways; the delicious breakfasts on the terrace beside the swimming pool in the morning, when there's shade and the breeze is a caress! I finally learned to navigate back and forth to the spots I enjoyed downtown...including the wonderful La Pax Art Museum and the Regional Anthropology Museum. I BEGAN USING...wait for it...UBER for the first time ever! That became another love! The Uber App is so helpful. You can tell just where the driver is. You agree where you're going to meet. There is AIR CONDITIONING IN THE CARS! It was a life saver for me! That and the hotel...wow! I also had some mild stomach discomfort eating in local restaurants, and ended up just buying fruit at a produce stand, my last day. (There seem to be no actual food stores, except the local OXXO, anywhere near the hotel. If I go again, I'll have to figure out a better way to deal with all that. But RICARDO, the owner of the hotel, and his family who work there...WHAT WONDERFUL HOSTS THEY ARE! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL ENVIRONMENT THEY PUT ONE IN! THANK YOU, RICARDO! THANK YOU, HOTEL POSADA LUNA/SOL!

Dear Guest, What a lovely detailed description of your visit to La Paz and of our hotel! We are happy to know you especially enjoyed our artfully designed posada or inn. We gathered lovely artifacts and tiles from all over Mexico to create our special little corner of paradise in La Paz. It's nice to hear how much others enjoy all those details... We are glad to know you survived the heat in La Paz in the summer AND found UBER so helpful in getting around. Just FYI, there are a few very small convenience stores near our hotel that carry some produce. Other than that the large grocery store with a huge variety of quality produce is 7 blocks away, an easy and inexpensive UBER ride. We are grateful you choose to stay with us and hope to host you again someday on another visit to La Paz, maybe in the winter next time! LOL... All the best, Mary & Ricardo

First off, the setting! Omg! Feels like your taken into a hacienda (Mexican style mansion) your greeted by the owners Reyna or her husband Ricardo or there wonderful staff. The pool is gorgeous!! Ohh and they tell you breakfast is included! (The beans are MVP) there lounge area and tables allow you to grab a couple beers nearby or lunch and just hang by the pool. The rooms are amazing , AC is freezing!!!! AGAIN THE AC IS FREEZING!!! Make sure when you check in if you haven’t made plans or you book ahead you ask for there tours , me and the wife have done whale sharks swimming, and tours to isla espiritu santo, (ask for CAPT VICTOR BRAVO) best capt ever I’ve take this tour numerous times with clients and family and it doesn’t fail! If you wanna fish , the staff in front can sort you out for a day pass on excursion. I’m a Bonvoy titanium member and I’ll choose this place over any marriot in the near by area. Period! We love this place and will continue to keep coming back every year. Thank you Don Ricardo and Sr. Reyna we love you and your hotel so much. I’m planning my 40 bday next year already with the staff that how much at home they make you feel. Best experiences ever.

Dear Guest, What a lovely, detailed description of our hotel! We are so happy to know how much you enjoyed your stay with us while on vacation in La Paz! All those details are just part of what we consider to be the quality service folks expect when staying away from home. We are definitely NOT a sterile, chain type hotel but more like what you coined as a Mexican Style Mansion where folks can feel at home even when traveling. Thanks SO much for choosing to stay with us in La Paz and for taking the time to write such a detailed review here on TA. We look forward to hosting you for your 40th birthday celebration next year! All the best, Mary & Ricardo
