I really enjoyed the Melville it is located where you want to be if you want to explore centro/olas altas. You can walk to the market, Plaza Machado, and to the Stone Island ferry. Plenty of restaurants, bars and the ocean in walking distance. The hotel itself is unique with the history of the building, great grounds with lush trees... More

I have mixed feelings about leaving a review for the Melville. Not because we didn't enjoy our stay, we did. I'm more concerned that drawing attention to it might make it harder to book a stay in the future. I found it through Tripadvisor and was curious why it had so few reviews and none really current. I did some... More

I was staying on stone island and went into town to see my Uncle that lives at the Melville. I stayed in room #9 it was a lovely room( small apartment ). So close to the plaza and a few blocks to the beach and the large market.

Just spent two memorable nights at "The Melville" in Mazatlan's historical downtow. The D. H. Lawrecence suite on the second floor is very comfortable and like all the other rooms, all of which are named after cultural icons who have visited Mazatlan over the years, is tastefully decorated with beautiful Mexican colors and furniture. For anyone wanting to discover why... More

The location of these suites are perfect for enjoying the culture and coast of mazatlán. It's an easy walk to everywhere in the Centro and along the coast and there are plenty of buses close by to get to the Zona Doranda, Central Camionera and the southern coastline. The rooms are very convenient with fans and air con to avoid... More

I tried to contact this hotel twice via their website and once by phone in order to reserve a room for myself and my girlfriend. I had no response and no answer. Now booked else where, I have been to Mazatlan before and the hotel looks quite good from the outside.. it's a shame the response is a little lacking.

We loved he Melville. We went with 2 teenagers and another couple. The charm of this old hotel and the area of Mazatlan is worth visiting. It is in the heart of Historic Mazatlan and you can walk to great restaurants, coffee houses, margaritas and super good shrimp. The rooms are large, clean and comfy. We also stayed in another... Staying at the Melville is a very different experience than staying in the Golden Zone, but overall was a better one, I think. The hotel is only a block from the Machado, arguably one of the best features of Mazatlan, with a ton of great live music and restaurants. Unfortunately, you can also hear the bars and foot traffic in... More

The "Zona Dorada" of Mazatlan is all well and good with its beaches, shopping, nightlife and what not but it doesn't give much of a feel of actually being in Mexico. For that I recommend staying at the Melville in the historic old town of Mazatlan. The Melville is a well restored colonial style building with large, clean, comfy rooms,... More

Like others before me I found this wonderfull oasis by accident. Local rental agents refused to mention it and I know why. Once you stay here and join the very clubby group for happy hour it's hard to consider any other place. Most of the Club Melville people go on to buy a house or an apartment nearby. Join the...
